2019 College Football Write Ups

I try to start this thread every year in June - the annual college write up sign up. Please volunteer if you can - I will post a template from last year for the basic layout of the write up. Some posters do a great job on doing a deep dive on specific team(s) they follow which are always great to read. We have seen a steady group carry on this project over the years and have seen newer posters volunteer and contribute.

Over the past few years I have noticed some differences in approaches - some prefer to wait until closer to the season for the most accurate depth charts from the college/university, others go off of projections from spring practices, preview magazines, ourlads etc. I understand where both sides come from as I do a little of both myself.

I am looking forward to see who volunteers and hopefully this will attract some missing posters back to the site who have contributed in the past. Just post the team(s) you want to do write ups for in this thread and I will assign the team on the master list. I ask that everyone just respects each other - if someone signs up for a team I would rather have them do it than someone else just take the team and do it themselves (just trying to keep everything organized). If there are teams that have been accounted for but no write up is done in the week leading up to the regular season then the team is opened back up to anyone.

I am probably going to start write ups for some of the mid major teams from Conf USA, the American, MWC, MAC and Independents sometime in the next week or so in the interest in getting all teams covered prior to the beginning of the season. Still hoping to get some more volunteers if only for a team or two.

If everyone can follow this basic template for their write-ups it would be greatly appreciated - just to keep them somewhat consistent as well as track the number of white athletes that started each year. Feel free to add more information on top of the basic template but it's important to do our best to track the number of white starters each year.

A good example is Vanilla_Sky's 2018 Iowa St write up:

Since 2005, Iowa State has started 14, 12, 8, 9, 6, 11, 10, 11, 10, 9, 5, 6, and 11 whites. They fall back down to 9 this year, all on the offense led by sixth year senior Kyle Kempt. It is disappointing to see a school like Iowa State field no white defenders but the positive news is that this team seems to have slightly bounced back demographically from the two years before last that saw it field a starter number on par with the SEC. Overall, the team has good depth and a lot of white two-deep back ups on defense so hopefully they can make it onto the field frequently this year.

Is it true that Texas Tech has the fans that everyone in the Big 12 hates the most? That's what I keep hearing at WVU games. We were of course the dark sheep of the Big East, but I'm not sure how the Big 12 fans perceive us. They all seem pretty nice when they show up. Certainly a lot less tension and fighting in the parking lot since we joined up with you guys.

I’d say we definitely know how to instigate but I don’t think it’s anything out of the ordinary for sports fans. I think the other schools in the big 12 are starting to dislike us for being really good at a lot of sports all of the sudden (besides football). But we do like to get rowdy and such and sometimes teams don’t like the chants we do, I don’t think we’re bad fans though, just really passionate. Personally I’d say Texas fans are the worst just because of how annoying they are for being average in most sports. It’s usually the drunk students that other fans dislike, but if you meet an adult Texas Tech fan in public they’re usually super nice.

Anything you'd recommend about Lubbock if I get down that way for a game? I've been to Austin twice and Ames once since we've been in the Big 12. I'm going to try and hit up one away game every two or three years probably. I've spent quite a bit of time in various parts of Texas (Houston, Dallas, Austin, San Antonio), but I've never made it out to West Texas.

There’s honestly not too much to Lubbock, lots of good food and a lot of nice little bars to go to. The best bar scene is on Broadway but you’d want to go early to avoid the crowds of students, other than food and drinks there’s not a lot to do. I like to go to the range which is a driving range where they serve alcohol and play music, it’s a good time. There’s some nice music history there and you can get anywhere in the city in less than 15 mins!

Im going to try to crank out some more of the less desirable unclaimed teams in the next few days. If anyone wants to take any of those teams from the smaller conferences (and SEC) that would be great. The - the teams like Utep, Fiu, Fau etc. I’d rather get them out of the way sooner rather than later.

I appreciate all the write ups. It’s almost unanimous decrease in White players across the board. My interest in college football is almost zero.
