I was checking the population of the Milwaukee metro area and it's listed as approx. 1.6 million. I had thought it was about the same size as Pittsburgh but Pitt's metro population is about 2.4 million and it's considered a medium to smaller sized market. Both are relatively White for the USSA at around two/thirds White. Pittsburgh has always been a bad basketball town and will never have an NBA team but is a good hockey town. No reason Milwaukee couldn't support an NHL team, except both an NHL and NBA team probably would be too much for a market that size, as WIR stated above. Too bad because being a northern city and relatively White, the NHL would go over well in Milwaukee.

After a great thanksgiving meal and after the family left, I was able to watch the last half of the Devs- Can game. Great exciting game.
Hockey is a great sport. It has everything. More and more high schools are starting to have teams. I know it will never be a huge sport here in
America, but within the White community it should have a bigger following.

I have no idea how well a hockey team will do in a particular city. But I would like to see the NHL be financial solid for both players and teams.
I would not want to water down the talent to expand the league more. If a team that's not doing well moves to another venue that's probably the way
go.

Bucky, here's the deal: Milwaukee was once seen as a virtual lock for NHL expansion, but the very wealthy, elderly prospective owner refused to pay the "exorbitant expansion fee" of $50 million.
Back in the early 1990's the NHL had 21 teams and wanted to keep it that way. Unfortunately for them, the Gund brothers wanted to move their Minnesota North Stars to San Jose. NHL fought them, but eventually brokered a deal: The Gunds could have an expansion team in San Jose and could take some top prospects (not named Mike Modano) and draft picks with them from Minnesota. In exchange, they had to sell the N'Stars to someone that would keep them in Minnesota.
Soon after the greedy NHL owners tasted the $45 million expansion fee from the Gunds, they changed their minds and eagerly embraced expansion. Fearing San Jose (Sun Belt team) might fail, they decided they wanted "safer" U.S markets . Reportedly Milwaukee and Seattle were chosen as the clear-cut front-runners for expansion cities. According to media reports, it was basically a formality that both cities would be added, if they simply agreed to pay a $50 million expansion fee.
Seattle, which history tells us was granted an expansion team in 1974 that was aborted in 1976, was largely sabotaged by the Jewish owner of Seattle's NBA team in the 1990's. Basically, the Sonics owner pretended to want an NHL team, knowing he'd pull his offer at the last minute. This would make sure a group of wealthy Microsoft Goys in Seattle would not get a NHL team to compete with his Sonics. Totally low-class move by the Lonsman!
As far as Milwaukee, there was no chicanery involved. The parsimonious elderly gentleman, a life long NHL broadcaster (Blackhawks), was livid at the expansion fee and the set up of the Expansion Draft -- did not think he could get decent players. It turned out to be short-sighted, as $50 million would soon be a bargain for an NHL team. Tampa and Ottawa, once deemed expansion "long-shots", came in with $50 million to fill the void. Tampa was forced to use money from Japanese investors to seal the deal. The Lightning have since thrived way beyond expectations. There was some talk of Milwaukee buying the Hartford Whalers or other teams in the 1990's, but it was never taken seriously.
Looking forward, it seems the NHL has no interest in Milwaukee. Houston and Quebec City are the only cities I know of that are seriously talked about, if the NHL was forced to relocate a team.

Another head was rolled yesterday as the Dallas' coach was fired for bullying and using homophobic and misogynistic language, this language directed at players from coaches was quite common place in the NHL and the other 3 leagues until fairly recently. I remember going to a Leaf game back 35+years ago and hearing blue language from fellow players against each other. One Leaf who had his own hamburger franchise seemed to only say 4 letter words all shift against opposing players.
Hockey is the second most violent team sport and media wants the players to wear tutus and be similar to golfers I guess.
PS, the player that started this firestorm is an immigrant from the Ukraine and according to his Wikapedia page regards himself as Ukrainian first and Black/Mulatto second and was on his couch waiting for a pro league phone call that was probably never happening so he decided to press his nuclear button and start this firestorm as his career was basically over. IMO he reminds me of a criminal who burned through his take on a robbery and decides to dime out his co-conspirators because they wont give him a further share of the bounty...

This all sucks to no effing end. I wanted a sport this year I could get into WITHOUT PC crap. The PTB just can't leave anything alone. They have to destroy, destroy, destroy. I hate them with a righteous hatred to no end. If anybody can name one thing they touch that they don't destroy and ruin I'd like to know what it is...

Earlier this season I caught New Jersey on NHL Center Ice, and noticed they had a very mediocre looking pre-game host with the surname Wachter (likely Jewish), who regaled the audience with tales of how incredibly excited she was when she found out the Devils traded for P.K. Subban and Wayne Simmons, then drafted the Kosher Prince of Newark, Jack Hughes #1 overall. Recently, the somewhat heavy set bleached blonde has been doing between periods cooking segments with P.K. Subban, who is usually dressed in an all white Chef Boyardee outfit. In this video he actually dons a red chefs hat.
Anyhow, it seems like Subban's stay in Jersey has been much ado-about nothing: Subban's last goal was November 2nd. His last assist was October 25th. P.K. has not scored a point in his last 20 games. In that span, his plus/minus is -12, which is not a surprise, considering even at the apex of his career, he was a bit of a defensive liability. Overall, Subban has contributed 2 goals and 3 assists this season (-13 plus/minus) in 33 games. At this rate, he's on target for a 5 goal/8 assist season and about 13 points overall!
Subban did have six good seasons, in terms of posting offensive stats, between 2012/13 and 2017/2018. But at the age of 30 his down-slide has been very swift and surprisingly sudden. That said, I assume he's already an absolute lock for the Hockey Hall of Fame. Although I'd assume most players with his resume and defensive short-comings would not be absolute locks, unless they turned things around and had several more All-Star years?
P.S: Simmons and Hughes both have 4 goals and 8 assists thus far this season. Prince Hughes currently is on pace for (about) a 10 goal, 19 assist season. His career might skyrocket at some point, but he currently looks more like a future Nico Hischier or Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, than Sidney Crosby, Patrick Kane or Connor McDavid. This might be the second time in three years the Devils fall-short of drafting a "franchise player" #1 overall? And the Hischier/Hopkins projection might be too optimistic, who's to say he won't be the second coming of Brian Lawton or Alexandre Daigle?

Subban is prone to lots of bad mistakes and gaffes. The Penguins have a similar defenseman in Kris Letang, one of the best but also prone to bad mistakes, but of course Letang gets only a tiny fraction of the media hype Subban receives.
Letang at least is fast; Subban is slow. One of my favorite memories of the Penguins winning the Stanley Cup in back to back years is the empty netter by Carl Hagelin that clinched Game 6 in Nashville against the Predators in 2017. Watch starting at 3:27 as Hagelin blows by Subban and puts the Predators out of their misery:

Great points, Don. Particularly regarding Letang. They are somewhat comparable, in terms of age, time in the league and stats. Letang is much faster. In his prime Subban's greatest asset was his booming slap-shot from the point, particularly on the power play. His speed always seemed to be an issue when he got too deep into the offensive zone and had trouble getting back to protect his goalie or his teams empty net goal (example in your video). It has become an overwhelming issue now that he's older. Might explain why Nashville let him go for for very little in return -- 2 current, mediocre AHL players and a pair of 2nd rounders.

Doing a bit of research, the Devils are owned by a pair of liberal Jewish owners, who have run the franchise into the ground, after purchasing a team that had just made the Stanley Cup finals and was coming off a 2 decade (plus) run of excellence.
The Lonsmen that own the Devils claimed they would not got involved with the hockey side, but they were probably behind the push for P.K. Subban and Simmonds, who both appear to be prematurely over-the-hill. They are no doubt following in the footsteps of the Atlanta Thrashers' Jewish owners several years back, who felt loading the team with Mulatto's would bring out blacks brothers from suburban and urban Atlanta. The plan was so effective, they moved to Winnipeg soon after. Looking at all the empty seats after the Hall deal, it looks like smaller and smaller crowds will be the norm in Newark.

I know this is why hockey has this firestorm, which is largely fake news. But there is no talent to replace any of these players.
Canada has a tiny minority of Black/Mulatto people largely situated around Toronto and Montreal and in the United States hockey is still an upper middle class sport for the most part. People forget that JJ Watt quit hockey because the expenses were too high for his family.
This push for diversity by writers is a pipe dream that will hang over the NHL's head forever and whenever some isolated incident of perceived racism, sexism and any other ism happens the NHL leadership will beg for forgiveness to the media.

The Penguins went 18-6-4 while Crosby recuperated from core muscle surgery and are now one of the top teams in the league point-wise, breathing down the necks of the Capitals in the very competitive Metropolitan Division. They've been a MASH unit all season; Jake Guentzel, who scored 40 goals last year and was on a similar pace this season and was named to the All Star team, was recently lost for the regular season with a shoulder injury that required surgery on top of all their other injuries. Just about every important player has lost time to injuries, but the Penguins come to compete and play hard most games which is a refreshing contrast from the past two seasons. Crosby and Malkin (ages 32 and 33 respectively) are still at the top of their games, but the window is closing and hopefully the Pens will be a Cup contender in the playoffs. If Crosby-Malkin-Letang can win a fourth Cup they'll clearly be the best team since the end of the last NHL dynasties -- the Islanders and Oilers of the '80s.

Alexander Ovechkin has 698 career goals. He'll be just the eighth player in NHL history to reach 700, and may be the last for quite some time given that the current long-lasting "dead puck era" shows no signs of abating.
Just watched the Penguins rout the hapless Red Wings in a nationally televised game on NBC. Pens are looking good and just traded this year's number one draft choice to obtain Jason Zucker from the Wild, which means they feel they have the talent to seriously challenge for another Stanley Cup as Crosby and Malkin enter their twilight years as superstars.
NBC also nationally televised last night's outdoor game in prime time between Colorado and LA. That's the good news; today's game was billed as "Hockey Day in America," celebrating the growth of U.S. hockey, but because this is the U.S., NBC made sure to run plenty of filler on female hockey players, handicapped hockey players, as well as employed a black announcer for a game that featured exactly zero blacks. And all that was while I was mostly ignoring everything but the actual game, there probably was more I had the good fortune to miss. Oh, and there was a loving segment showing a morbidly obese black woman who is the head of Pittsburgh's "Black Girls Hockey Club," showing yet again how racial exclusion and discrimination is wonderful when practiced by blacks and of course everyone else except for those evil Whites.

NBC always tries their damndest to make their NHL coverage as unbearable as humanly possible.
Don, what do you think about the Florida Panthers this year? Living here in Miami, hockey doesn't get a whole lot of coverage mainly because the local team stinks on ice, pun intended (only 5 postseason appearances in their 27 year history) But they finally have a couple of players to get excited about which they never really did before. They're the #1 scoring team in the NHL and Barkov and Huberdeau look to be quite the duo if there ever has been in South Florida. They're right on the playoff bubble battling it with Toronto for that last playoff spot in the Atlantic. Do you think they make it in this year or do you think it's another year of disappointment for them?
Florida has impressed me when I have watched them play the Penguins. In fact the two teams are a lot alike -- both are fast and talented and are pretty disciplined at sticking to their system.
As far as the playoffs, the Panthers' main problem is that the Eastern Conference is so much better than the Western Conference this season. The Oilers currently lead the Pacific Division with 70 points but if they were in the Metropolitan Division they would only be tied for sixth!
Right now it looks like six teams are fighting for the 5th through 8th seeds in the East, with Florida one of them. If they get hot down the stretch they have as good a chance as any other team. That's the beauty of the NHL playoffs, it's a brutal endurance contest where the will to endure and persevere factors heavily. The Panthers are young and hopefully eager so if they get in they could make a splash.
