Lemaitre pulls up injured

Very sad about Christophe. Here are the results of the mens 100 meters B race where Lemaitre got hurt. Look at the incredible time by Hassan Taftian running a 10.03 for 2nd! Wow was that impressive. He is so close to a sub 10 and he has been consistant every race. Happy for him and their country to finally have an elite sprinter.

I was happy to see that. Also Prandinni finished 2nd in the womens 200 meters. She has really started to
establish herself on the world stage. I hope this continues. She has so much talent!

Beth Dobbin of Scotland won the British Championships today in a PB, Championship record, Scottish record, and 7th fastest Brit woman ever - 22.59.
Congrats to this young woman. A new name we can root for.

Outstanding. Glad to hear it. On the mens side it was not very good but hopefully some of the young
guns will improve over in England.

I noticed that Richard Kilty didn't even compete. He must be hurt or thinking about retiring. That would be
a shame as his 10.01 p.b. is so close. I really have rooted for years for him to get that elusive sub 10. At the end
of the day he won a world champs gold medal over 60 meters and a European Indoor 60 meters gold too. His start
is there with the best guys in the world. He just didn't have to top end or speed endurance needed. Hope he doesn't
quit yet. Love watching him sprint.

surprisingly Laura Muir won the British womens 800m in 2.01.22 which is a pb for her. Love to see her continue in the 800m as she has all the talent in the world to do some damage in the 800m on a world stage.

Emile Erasmus ran twice today at a meet in France (i think) and almost broke the 10-second barrier both times.

he clocked a personal best of 10.01 in the heats and returned to the track later in the afternoon to win the final in 10.02, barely missing out on becoming the sixth South African to crack the sub-10 mark.

over the last 5 days, Erasmus has run a 10.11, 10.15, 10.01, and a 10.02. he's also posted a personal-best 20.48 in the deuce. he's doing some good work.

it has been an exciting summer for our guys!

Fantastic improvements. Yes, after his 10.11 I remarked that, wind conditions taken into account, it was a better run than his best of 10.08.
No argument now - he's in lifetime best form

Lea Sprunger of Switzerland ran 50.52 in La-Chaux-de-Fonds ahead of the Netherlands' Lisanne de Witte (50.96) and Lithuania's Agne Serksniene (50.99).
All 3 set National records in this race.

It looks like Xie broke 10 flat again in his heat. Erasmus was very close. A little bit of wind and he would have been sub 10.

Dobbins powered through down the final 30 meters at that point she was about 4th but caught the badly tiring Jody Williams and others and won fairly convincingly.

On the opposite end Adam Gemili died down the stretch and finished second in a tight finish. I noticed Gemili didn't run in the 100 for this championship and seems like he has become a 200m specialist. Being a sub 10 guy(at his best) he could have easily beat out roid head Harry AA for a finals lane.

I wonder if his coaching team have decided that the 100 is too hard on his hamstrings and the more controlled 200 sustained speed is easier to avoid injuries.

I have to say I'm shocked at his progression. Can we say Lemaitreish (several years ago) in his consitancy. The reason tha I like that comparison is because of their height and long strides. Emile Erasmus eats up the track. Another guy wih huge strides is the young lad from Finland (Samuel Purola) who is only 18 years of age.

Emile Erasmus has shown he belongs on the world stage. This is going to open a lot of doors for him. Damn he was so close. I hope this doesn't haunt him like Julian Reus and Richard Kilty who both are still stuck on 10.01 personal bests and probably will never go sub 10. Please for the love of sprinting let Erasmus dip under the magical mark soon. It's so unfair to be that close twice in the same day!

Erasmus is max 6ft 2inchs ...l..has been a regular on SA .4 by 100 for last couple of yrs ...has run consistently 10.2s towards 10.1s over the last 2 yrs ago .......Beth dobbins has been flagged since late last yr ...her training is 400 meter based ....and she will continue to be a 200 specialist ....kilty isn't retiring any time soon ......

A couple of German sprinters have been hitting low 10.2 s but nothing special ....as said many times before the Germans have to perform more often outside of Germany to believe in themselves ...

The world record is 12.80 by Aries Merritt. Still quite aways to go but very possible. Man would that be incredible. Shubenkov has such incredible speed to go along with great technique. Would love to see what he could run a 100 in with some serious training. I'm guessing 10.10 to 10.20's but who knows? He needs to stay where he is at. Incredible performance, a meet record and a world leading time of 12.92! Wow simply amazing!!
