During the Purdue game Kirk Herbstreit slipped up when he blamed the defensive woes squarely on the linebackers. Herbie has improved quite a lot from his caste beginnings so I was surprised he threw the white players under the bus when it was unwarranted.
Then caste disciple Brock Huard appearing on a panel that included Herbie suggested the LBs lack speed.
Of course ESPN has the biggest mouthpiece so any push back will get lost in the wash.
That said it was still gratifying to hear ex Buckeye and recently retired NFL LB James Laurinaitis say the linebackers, who he watched workout in the fall, are very athletic. See below.

JL sounds like Head Coach material.
Anyway while the Ohio State QB Haskins has some talent and a probable NFL career there were murmurs about back up Tate Martell suddenly not playing lately and that he would have been the proper electric change up to get Ohio State out of there trance against Purdue. Fill in HC Ryan Day utilized Martell quite a bit but Meyer has been hesitant to throw him in there.
I don't like Urban Meyer ( who does?) but he has had success. Still in recent years his teams have come up ultra flat at least once a year now ( last year Iowa destroyed them. )There are murmurs this could be Meyer's last year for various reasons and I hope so. I was very impressed when his OC Ryan Day took over for the first three games. Day showed a greater tendency to give white players some more playing time and in general it seemed like the team was looser and less constricted.
Meyer has a great resume so no need for me to slam him on his career (albeit too caste for my liking) but for everyone in Buckeye land it would be best if he moved on after this season.
