I like the quarterback situation this year. Some good potential storylines. Josh Rosen, a likely #1 as far as talent and NFL readiness, but comes with personal baggage. Sam Darnold, the "safe" pick. Baker Mayfield, the high-risk, high-reward choice, and Josh Allen, the dark horse. And Lamar Jackson, the other dark horse.

(Sorry).

Forgetting for a moment that Rosen, similar to Peyton and Eli, has made it clear that he doesn't want to play for the Browns (I don't like it when players pull this stuff) this draft is so strange that any one of the four "core" QB's could end up being the first pick in the draft.

The Vikings are in an interesting position. All three of their quarterbacks are free agents. They could lose all three in which case they would look to the draft for one.

Or, if they sign one of them, they could target a QB in the mid or late rounds.

I saw that. .. ridiculous.. I wonder how many Fullbacks let alone Tailbacks have had as many 50+ YD td runs as Nall. Pretty impressive for a so called FB.. complete BS... Unbelievable. Someone should light up the Walterfootball forum about that..
Why doesn't Nall just call them and tell them he is NOT a fullback? If he doesn't this is part of the problem. "lunch pail Nall, just happy to be considered" BS mindset is where the caste system is able to further sink its teeth.

Nice breakdown Leonardfan! Thanks for the practice update during the week.

Senior Bowl announcer Charles Davis announcer says QB Josh Allen "is not sneaky athletic" ...."He is Athletic!" Carson Wentz got same treatment ......

Nall suffers from the Big White RB Syndrome. If you're too big Caste whores see you as a Fullback or Hback.

If youre too small you're a slot WR! Or just completely ignored.

Before I get to a quick Senior Bowl report the silver lining in Nall being seen as a FB is it actually IMPROVES his chances of getting invited to the Combine.

Speaking of Combine it is ESSENTIAL that WR Braxton Berrios gets invited. The Senior Bowl announcers were trying to 'place" him and they ended up with a "poor man's" Ryan Switzer. Like Switzer Berrios, who is even shorter, doesn't have a big catching radius so he is strictly a slot and PR. And like Switzer he will have to go to teams that can use him properly which rules out some teams from the get go. That said he did a very good job returning punts yesterday (5-70) and I like his burst. But he has to get to the NFL Combine.

I suspect he will run a 40 yard dash in 4.4 or a low 4.5. I see no reason why he should not get drafted on the third day. After the season he was seen as a long shot but his quickness wowed scouts at the Senior Bowl practices so now that my hopes are up nothing short of being drafted will be a huge let down. He played for a team that eats sleeps and drinks caste so it was hard to get a proper feel. Like Switzer you can plug him in the first day as a PR and then work him in over time to play the slot.

In my "SHADOW" draft I already said I would do anything to draft DE Sam Hubbard. Another player I would do anything to draft is TE Mike Gesicki another player who wowed scouts--see Leo's Senior Bowl wrap above--this past week. Under used at Penn State I see a player who will EXPLODE in the NFL. He is a cross between Travis Kelce and Zach Ertz in my opinion. Which means to me he should be a first round draft pick but most have him going in the second or third. Some teams are going to look foolish come draft day.

Now it looks like 4 out of the 5 top picks could be QB's. Mayfield got an A this past week from everyone.

Then there is Josh Allen. Undeterred by the critics Mel Kiper has said for the last couple of weeks Allen will likely be the first player taken. This past week all the scouts gave him an A + for character. There are concerns about his accuracy and processing. And while I don't like to put too much emphasis on all star games Allen is TANTALIZING.

Early on he threw an ABSOLUTE PEA to a Penn State WR who dropped the grenade. Who throws peas anymore in the NFL anymore? A young Brett Farve comes to mind but wait he hasn't played in years. He can flick a ball over 80 yards. He has great mobility. And he tossed two picture perfect TD touch passes to white TE's yesterday. I have seen enough including over ten Wyoming games the past two years. Add him to Hubbard and Gesicki for the "SHADOW" draft must haves. He is a risk. But I don't want to be the team that passes over him either. I see the next bigger version of John Elway in Allen.

The Senior Bowl game took place yesterday. Richmond QB Kyle Lauletta won MVP honors and Josh Allen had a strong showing as well in the second half of the game. WKU QB Mike White also had a good game and looks to be a rising commodity.

Combine invites should be announced sometime in the next couple of weeks. This is typically the last caste obstacle the system places between white athletes and the NFL.

Pundits are now talking up Baker Mayfield to the Browns at No. 1. Heaven forbid that poor Baker ends up with Clueless Hue.

Chatter commences of Baker Mayfield to the Browns, at No. 1
Mike Florio,ProFootball Talk on NBC Sports 17 hours ago

Four years after the Browns swung (and missed badly) on quarterback Johnny Manziel, they may be preparing to take another shot at the fences, again.

Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports makes the case for Baker Mayfield to the Browns. Not with the dreaded (by the Browns) 22nd pick in the draft, but with the first overall selection.

Robinson establishes a connection between the Browns and Baker Mayfield by drawing lines between Mayfield and G.M. John Dorsey.

“A lot of what he is as a player fits with the mentality of John Dorsey,” an unnamed source told Robinson. “Just his mental makeup as a player, John believes in building around those kinds of guys. . . . I think he’s a strong candidate [for the top pick] after this week.”

That’s fine, but Dorsey ultimately isn’t the one to watch. It’s owner Jimmy Haslam, who became hopelessly smitten with Manziel — and who could end up becoming equally infatuated with Mayfield. If/when Haslam starts making it clear (without ever issuing any mandates or directives, but then again not issuing mandates or directives is one of the benefits of being a billionaire) that he wants to flip the coin again on a guy with the same moxie as Manziel, it will be hard for Dorsey or anyone else to push back against it.

Haslam defintely moved the Manziel needle in 2014, as sources made clear to PFT at the time and more recently. And Mayfield has plenty of the same positive traits that Manziel possessed. If the Browns can sufficiently ensure Mayfield doesn’t possess any (or too many) of the negative ones, Mayfield could be the pick, possibly as high at No. 1.

The Browns also have the No. 4 overall pick, thanks to the trade that allowed the Texans to move up and get the guy that Browns should have fallen in love with a year ago, Deshaun Watson. So, if they want, they can aim for the moon with a guy like Mayfield and then take the best player available three spots later.

Whatever the Browns do, the stakes are higher than ever. It’s one thing to take a quarterback who busts; it’s another to pass on one who becomes a franchise player. In each of the last two drafts, the Browns did just that by passing on Watson and Carson Wentz. This year, the risk for the Browns is that they could end up doing both.

With the Senior Bowl over there are two/three steps left before the draft. Between now and the Combine the only exciting thing of import is who gets invited to the NFL Combine. Then there is the Combine and the Pro Days.

I want to explore the WR situation which I have been pretty precise in forecasting the past several years and when I have missed like with Jordan Taylor he ended up in the NFL despite not being drafted which he should have been in the first place.

Before that a quick word about the HORRIBLE DB situation. 22 mentioned some players on this thread. As of now I have ZERO DB'S getting drafted. Last year only one right?

I know nothing about Cole Reyes. I know a lot about Troy Apke since I watched practically every Penn State game this year. They will have to burn up things pretty damn well on their testing days to even get a sniff. Not impossible but the only likely best case scenario is one or both are drafted very late. At that point they will be seen as Special Teams players at least to start. But it is still a longshot from what I can tell.

Of course the irony is as blacks start to dominate defensive backfields more and more the level of play in general has NEVER been as ATROCIOUS whether it be college or the NFL.

Any football fan knows that play by the Saints S at the end of the Vikings game wasn't just plain STUPID. It was stupid on steroids. The next level beyond mere idiot. His headless chicken act is what is the norm now in college football as black DB's run around with no purpose. Meanwhile their black WR counterparts who burn their asses put up huge numbers that have the NFL come a running. Yet many of these very same idiot black DB's get carried along with them into the NFL. What ATHLETES we are told time and again.

Plus a local beat writer for the Chiefs figures S Daniel Sorensen is an awful player. He was crying over the idea that Eric Berry got hurt. Never mind the Chiefs never won anything with Berry. But the facts reveal otherwise. The Chiefs would have advanced if Kelce didn't get skulled. The problem with the Chiefs D was primarily their front seven. And Sorensen led the team in tackles and in the game that got them into the playoffs and the playoff game too he performed like a safety should. He helped out his CB's and broke up key passes which is the main responsibility of a safety. And of course he was in on a bunch of tackles and made a crucial late game sack in their playoff game. Yet Sorensen an above average player somehow qualifies as awful while these ultra moron black DB's that populate countless teams who give up huge plays and are mentally too deficient to diagnose a play or adjust to a ball in the air are hailed as the best athletes in football. Oh and most of them can't tackle worth a crap unless they decide to skull a player a dirty trick they have perfected.

Football has managed to wipe out the species known as the white CB and the caste lickers just love the inherent denigration. It feels as if the next step is to wipe out white safeties too. Anyone remember that electric football game--do they still make those things? Well you have the players lined up and you turn it on and the plastic figures run around aimlessly. This is what the DB position has slowly evolved into. Headless chickens running around with no CLUE. And they keep coming. VERY SAD.

In each of the last two drafts, the Browns did just that by passing on Watson and Carson Wentz. This year, the risk for the Browns is that they could end up doing both.

Florio is more cucked than ever. His first sentence brings up Manziel being a swing and a miss, but Kizer is never mentioned, a swing and a miss just last year. Unlike Kizer, Manziel at least had the ability to succeed, it was his strong self-destructive streak that did him in.

And then in the last paragraph, Florio already annoints Deshaun Watson a "franchise player" based on a sampling of just a few games. Okay, Mikey, whatever you say.

Speaking of Watson, came across this about him last night. The author may be out of a job for not towing the party line:

He looked dazzling as a rookie, or did he? Watson’s numbers benefited mightily from garbage time – his five-touchdown day against Kansas City, for example, was almost laughably bad until the final few minutes. I didn’t care for Watson as a prospect, and I’m still not sold.

He’s one of the weaker-armed newbies in recent memory, clocked at a pitiful 45 mph prior to his draft. It was the third-slowest measurement in the 10 years that velocity has been tracked, which is yucky – a top prospect never wants to be compared to Colt Brennan. Feel free to laugh off ball velocity, but it’s been arguably the best measurable of late to project NFL success.

I also take note of the fact that Watson regressed efficiency-wise at Clemson, which is never a good sign. It’s not that I’m just looking to discount his rookie success based on pre-draft data; if he’s turned a huge corner, he’s turned a huge corner.

I guess the Combine invites are already coming in. I read somewhere that by Thursday night most invitations will be finished but I am not sure about that at all.

Anyway as expected RB Ryan Nall has been invited. Some discussion about a possible move to FB or H-Back but he is going in and will be listed as a RB. So he will be doing RB drills etc.

Story of two players - neither played in a major conference. One has the size of an LB, the other has tweener size, one had three years of production, the other had two. Player A improved year after year, player B's production declined from 2016 to 2017.

Player A: 6'0" 245 lbs

2017 stats: 94 solo tackles, 79 assisted tackles, 173 total tackles, 13 tfls, 2 sacks, 3 pbus, 3 FFs
2016 stats: 50 solo tackles, 49 assisted tackles, 99 total tackles, 11.5 tfls, 6.5 sacks, 1 int, 2 ffs
2015 stats: 42 solo tackles, 38 assisted tackles, 80 total tackles, 4.5 tfls, 1 sack, 1 ff

Player B: 6'2" 229lbs

2017 stats: 44 solo tackles, 30 assisted tackles, 74 total tackles, 13.5 tfls, 7 sacks, 1 int, 1 fr, 2 ffs
2016 stats: 57 solo tackles, 35 assisted tackles, 92 total tackles, 20 tfl, 11.5 sacks, 1 int, 2 ffs
2015 stats: 5 solo tackles, 4 assisted tackles

Player B has one hand, is undersized to play LB at the next level but is a "human interest" story. He is Shaquiem Griffin - ever since the Senior Bowl their has been pressure for him to be invited to the combine. I am not trying to denigrate his accomplishments due to his handicap but in a game where measurables are supposedly everything I would think having two hands would be a basic necessity. The screwed over player - player A is San Jose State LB Frank Ginda who was screwed out of a combine invite although he has the prototypical size of an NFL LB, the production and ability to tackle which is the main job of a linebacker and all of his limbs. I suppose the NFL has no need for able bodied white "tackling machine" LBs.

According to the blurb below it is because several offensive linemen were invited to the combine - should be interesting to see how many sumos the NFL pulls out of the woodwork for this years combine now. Of course the OL invites come at the expense of LB invites, a position where a decent number of whites are allowed to play. Year in and year out the caste system pulls out every stop in the book.

Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline hears that San Jose State LB Frank Ginda did not receive an invitation to the NFL Scouting Combine.

Per Pauline, several surprise offensive linemen received invitations, which has pushed "a number of draftable linebackers" off the NFL's list for Indianapolis. Ginda is apparently among that number. It's unfortunate for the 6-foot, 245-pound San Jose State standout, who likely would have tested extremely well. Pro day now becomes that much more important for Ginda. He's looking to lock down a Day 3 selection.

Not inviting Ginda, with his huge tackle numbers, smacks of pure racism. This is the kind of thing that often happens to white players.

On top of that he loses his spot as an LB to a one handed player who probably got his combine invite because of external pressure as news of Griffin's no invite was all the rage last week at the Senior Bowl. This reeks as a PR move by the NFL to bring a "human interest" story into the combine and draft. Meanwhile it is Ginda that gets screwed over since he won't have that type of exposure. The combine is supposedly all about measureables not feel good stories. If he gets drafted it will be another Michael Sam type charade.

Just watched a mock draft video on the NFL official YouTube which was pretty favourable

1. Sam Darnold (Browns, QB)
5. Josh Rosen (Broncos, QB)
6. Baker Mayfield (Jets, QB)
9. Quenton Nelson (49ers, G)
13. Josh Allen (Redskins, QB)
16. Connor Williams (Ravens, T)
25. Hayden Hurst (Titans, TE)
26. Taven Bryan (Falcons, DT)
27. Harrison Phillips (Saints, DT)
29. Dallas Goedert (Jaguars, TE)
30. Sam Hubbard (Vikings, DE)
31. Mike McGlinchey (Eagles, T)

Anybody have any stats on the last time a dozen white players were taken in the first round? Real run on late in the round, including three defensive linemen and a pair of tight ends. Only complaints I'd have with the above would be one of Rosen and Mayfield not going at #2 to the Giants and a long run of mediocre afflete prospects through the middle of the draft between Williams and Hurst. Definitely potential for Billy Price, Kolton Miller, and Mason Rudolph to jump into the first round as well, but unfortunately it may be at the expense of another white player.

OK now that the SB is over it is time to go full throttle on the draft. Huge news. Perhaps we should have a separate NFL Combine thread?

The players have just been announced for the NFL Combine and a quick look at the list is promising.

Four WR's have been invited. Berrios, Cantrell, Quinn and Wieneke. Must say I was sweating out a Berrios invite and Cantrell was a nice surprise. All in all I am pleased. This could have been as low as two players.

Also S Troy Apke was invited. The only white DB but I thought he might not get invited.

So not bad so far considering the desert we have to deal with in the first place.

Late edit.

There are a lot of good white TE's invited.

The biggest omission I have noticed so far is DE Joe Ostman.

I would argue against a combine thread - just throw everything in the 2018 draft thread since it is all related. Another pathetic combine coming up.

68 out of 336 invitees to the combine were white skill position players. 11 specialists (punters/kickers) and one long snapper (Tanner Carew). Subtract 12 from 336 and you get 324. Divide 68/324 and you get approx 21% of the skill position players going to the combine as being white. Remember the combine acts as the final NFL controlled gate keeper between whites and getting drafted - Pro Days are many white athletes only shot at getting noticed if they were passed over for the Combine, Senior Bowl, Shrine Game and any other post season all star games.

Disappointed there weren't more than 9 of our guys invited amongst defensive front 7..

But it's not surprising, as it's been mentioned NFL does a damn good job of keeping the League 20% white.

Yea I'm not surprised at all. When you follow the draft for going on 15 years you can pick up on obvious trends if you are willing to look past the blatant discrimination and ask the obvious questions. We just saw Amendola, Gronk and Hogan have huge days receiving in the biggest game of the year against an all black secondary and people are either unwilling, scared or just complacent so they won't ask the uncomfortable questions. It's good to come here to talk the draft with like minded individuals and troll twitter when possible but its obvious to me nothing is going to change. Maybe the XFL can put a nice dent in the NFL's fanbase. It all depends on whether or not they can put a decent product on the field. If they are able to do put a competitive product on the field and do so with alot more white athletes then the caste system can begin to be questioned since the sample size is bigger. It does not matter that in the NFL a majority white NFL offense dominates year in and year out - they are treated as an outlier and exception.

Here is the supposed process:

All 32 NFL teams are invited to provide input on draft-eligible players which is used by the Player Selection Committee to select each year’s participants. The Directors of both National and BLESTO scouting services, which combined represent 28 NFL teams, are joined by members of various NFL player personnel departments to form the committee. The participating NFL executives can rotate on a yearly basis, and remain anonymous. ALL eligible players are reviewed and voted on by the committee members. Each athlete receiving the necessary number of votes, by position, is then extended an invitation. While it is not a perfect science, the goal of the committee is to invite every player that will be drafted in the ensuing NFL Draft.

For the items I put in bold - it looks like the National and BLESTO scouting services are the 24/7, Scout, BSPN Recruiting and Rivals of the NFL. Why would 28 teams need a scouting service when they fork over tons of money to their own personnel departments? I find it funny that the goal of the committee is invite every player that will be drafted in the NFL draft rather than picking the players who project best to the next level. To quote Trump - "The system is rigged!"
