2018 NFL Conference Championships

Since the NFL is a copycat league I’m sure we’ll see a lot more composed, pocket passing backups like Jacoby Brissett and Brett Hundley after this epic Nick Foles performance
 
With playoff blowouts comes.........the obligatory chimp outs. Diggs is just one example. They never fail to exude anti-social behavior in times like these.:banana:
 
I could see the Vikings lose coming. As one who lives in Minnesota and has watched nearly every game I could see the offense starting to get stale towards the end of the season. When Case Keenum emerged on the scene he seemed to look to a lot to Thielen - like a number one receiver should be looked to. In the last third of the season their seemed to be a concerted effort to spread the ball out and get Diggs, Treadwell, etc. involved more. Brady doesn't seem to forget who his best receivers are especially in crunch time - just look at amendola's performance today. At least Foles has proved he deserves a starting spot somewhere today.
 
That's why the Patriots are smart in having multiple capable White receivers. The Packers should have developed Janis to go with Nelson but didn't. The NFL should have a lot more White receivers, not to mention a lot more Whites at the other positions that have mostly been black only for the past 35 years. Receiver is a position that Whites obviously excel at just as obviously as they excel at tight end.
 
So who's the favorite in the Super Bowl? I think the Eagles might win.
 
Foles: 352 yards, 3 TDs. Outstanding. Glad for him. Still Brady and Co. going to get another SB.
 
All in all a pretty good season. Patriots back to the Super Bowl, Vikings almost make it, no Seahawks and Raiders in the playoffs, White QBs dominating again, tight end becoming more of a White position every year, lots of individual White players excelling yet again. Some injuries to players like Edelman, Burkhead and Hogan, Jordy being rendered useless, Zenner ignored and other disappointments, but for the Caste NFL things could have gone a lot worse than they did. Just need the Patriots to finish it off in two weeks.
 
Foles may have peaked tonight. In two weeks it will be the biggest stage and that's like Tom Brady's second home. If they still had Wentz, I would favor the Eagles because they have a better defense. As long as Gronk can recover and the Pats have everyone healthy, they should win it. But that affletic defense is always a concern.
 
Wanted the Vikings to win obviously, but at least the Pats pulled it off. Foles was throwing 60 yard passes right on the money tonight. The fact that guy is a back up in the NFL shows why the level of play sucks. Unfortunately he ate up Harrison Smith who was back on the long bombs and covering Ertz who had a great game.

Amendola being the main factor in the Pats win shows why that team is the best. Lose Welker, get Edelman, lose Eldeman play Amendola. All key factors in the Patriots dynasty that were not wanted by any other team.

I wouldn't bet against Brady and the Patriots, especially if Gronk is able to play. But the Eagles look good. Looks like it will be a close game. Its not like NE will be playing a vile caste team like Seattle. Philly has Foles, Ertz, Jason Kelce and Lane Johnson.

It is great to see Foles have this great success with Philadelphia, the team he had his record-breaking season with. He is showing he should have been their quarterback since 2013, and Wentz should have gone to Cleveland.
 
Not to forget IMO the biggest surprise this year was a rookie white WR, Cooper Kupp, actually got a starting spot right away and of course did very well. Would love to see a healthy Burkhead and Gronk in the superbowl. Being several years over 40 it is great to see Tom Brady play his best ball at over 40. I hope he defies the prevailing thought that Over 40 is curtains for athletes and plays for several more years. Nowadays intense training and unusual drive/motivation/perseverance can overcome age. I know that at 47 I am at my best athletic shape in my lifetime.
 
Nick Foles obviously had a yuge All Pro game tonight. But one outstanding playoff game pales to Brady's career. Like Flint said the only thing that puts a question mark on Brady's 6th ring is his defense. Still, NE is in the driver's seat.

Pats/Jags ranks as one of the best non-SB playoff games of the Brady/Belichick era. The divisional games with Oakland in 2001 and Baltimore in 2014 are the only ones that are comparable.

While it was disappointing the NFC game was a blowout, I'm thrilled for Nick Foles. Jeff Fisher nearly destroyed his career. That Foles got zero consideration for a starting job the last two years is an embarrassment, even to the caste system. It would make a lot sense for Arizona to bring in Foles and Jim Schwartz for next season and beyond.
 
Patriots are 5.5 point favorites according to Forbes magazine. NE were 7 point favorites vs. PHI before the game, but the Eagles' performance brought it 1.5 points closer.

No way. The Jets were 19 point underdogs when they upset the Colts. The Eagles will be nowhere near being one of the top Super Bowl underdogs of all time.

Edit: I just checked BSPN and the article says biggest underdog since '09 at 5.5 points. Less than a touchdown.

Wow, I should have known that. I stand corrected.
 
In fact, the last Pats-Eagles Super Bowl in 05 had a bigger line (Pats by 7)...hopefully Foles stands up a bit more and has a good game, as opposed to renowned choker McNabb who threw two picks in the last quarter.

The biggest spread in the post merger era is probably the 49ers vs Chargers game that game opened around ten points and moved immediately a few points. This game could still be competitive if Foles plays as good as he did today. If it's how he looked against Atlanta the game should be a blowout.

Yeah you got it there, it was Niners by 18 and they covered easily.

The top six highest Super Bowl lines:
2008 - Patriots -14 vs Giants - Giants covered and won
2002 - Rams -14 vs Patriots - Patriots covered and won
1996 - Cowboys -13.5 vs Steelers - Steelers covered, Cowboys won
1995 - 49ers -18 vs Chargers - 49ers covered and won
1969 - Colts -17 vs Jets - Jets covered and won
1967 - Packers -17 vs Chiefs - Packers covered and won

So funnily enough, three of the top six biggest ever super bowl spreads resulted in the massive underdogs not only covering, but winning (Giants, Pats, Jets)! While one more covered but did not win (Steelers). I love oddities like this haha.
 
I was watching the replay of the Vikings-Eagles game on NFLN and realized once again how quickly a game can get away from you. Things can turn on a dime and if you don't have right people with the right mindset and mental toughness, you can't recover.

For the Vikings, it all ended in a 3-min span. Down 14-7 in the second quarter, they were putting together a solid drive and moving the ball. 3rd and 5 with about 3 min to go on the PHI 20, Keenum fumbled (not his fault) and the Eagles recovered. If that doesn't happen, best case they tie the game, worst case it's a FG. Even if PHI gets another score before the half, we are looking at 17-14 or 17-10, a very competitive game heading into 2nd half.

Instead Foles hits Jeffrey with a bomb, somehow they get the ball back again with 20-some seconds left and gain enough yards for another FG and it's 24-7, game over. The Vikings never knew what hit them.

In that scenario, your only chance for a comeback is if you have a HOF'er like Brady or Big Ben at QB.
