Is today really opening day? I haven't posted anything in a few weeks, so I'll start with an opening day thread. Well, it begins on a negative note. I meant to post this earlier, however I've just been extremely busy!
Anyway, Madison Bumgarner begins the season on the DL with a broke hand due to a line drive on the last spring game start. He will miss a minimum of 4-6 weeks. What a contrast to the beginning of last season when Bumgarner, became the first pitcher in history to hit 2 HR's on opening day! I hope this isn't a precursor of things to come. There were far too many injuries last season as everyone knows.
Does anyone want to do a team preview? I will try to post as many day to day stats as possible.

Ian Happ, Kyle Schwarber, and Anthony Rizzo have all homered for the Cubs.
Brian Anderson HR for Miami.

Opening day and it's raining here! Heard on Radio that The Reds had to move back their opening day, 1st time ever I do believe.

One thing id like to know, injuries aside, which teams are most likely to have the most white starters?

I was surprised to find Opening Day was today - I thought it would be early next week. I didn't get to compile a list - been busy and can't devote time to fantasy baseball this year which is where I do most of my research.

Are the nationals still a mostly white team? I also just realized something after observation (unless everyone else noticed and I'm just slow lol), I tend to see that there more whites in the N.L. than the A.L. maybe because small ball requires more brain.

After going 0-6 for the first time in his career yesterday, Mike Trout homers in his first AB tonight against Oakland!
Yes sib89, the Nationals are mostly white. They started 6 or 7 of 9 whites today.
The Arizona D'Backs also started 7 of 9 white players today.
I haven't been able to look at all the opening day rosters/starters yet. Like Leonardfan, I've just been extremely busy with work and family lately. I hope to get you updates as the season progresses. I hope others will help out here. Loads of talented white players in MLB right now!

Matt Davidson with 3 homers in Chi Sox opener!

Matt Davidson with 3 homers in Chi Sox opener!
Washington's Adam Eaton goes 5-5, 2D's, HR. Probably would have hit for the cycle if not for last year's horrific ACL tear. I looked at his highlights. It seems his knee is not quite the same as can be expected.
Trea Truner, HR, and also Matt Adams with a 3 run HR for the Nats!
Strasburg with the win.
The Reds CF Schebler with a HR as well as Duvall

Mike Trout doing what the best player in MLB does today. 3-4, 2D's, 2 runs scored, 2 RBI's, and of course a stolen base, so far. Game still in the 6th inning.

IDK.
Washington Nationals Bryce Harper goes deep twice today. If he plays this way for the entire season, look for him to be the highest paid MLB player EVER, next year! In the $400-500,000,000 range!
Also, Adam Eaton, 2-5, HR, 2 RBI, 2R.
Toronto's 1B, Justin Smoak also with 2 HR's, including a Grand Slam and 6 RBI's!
Trout having another nice day, 2-4, D, RBI.

The Cardinals have darkened up quite a bit. They spent huge money on Dexter Fowler to play CF a couple years ago after taking criticism for not having enough blacks on the team. So they spent huge money and overpaid for Fowler, who played such horrible CF that they had to move him to RF. He's hitting .000 on the year so far.

Cardinals lineup:

Fowler RF (black)
Pham CF (some sort of black mix)
Wong 2B (Pacific Asian)
Ozuna LF (black Hispanic)
Carpenter 1b (white)
Molina C (Hispanic)
DeJong SS (white)
Gyorko - 2B, 3B (White)

Awfully dark.

Thing is, the Cardinals could easily be much whiter if they so chose.

Carson Kelly (white) is the #1 rated Catching prospect in MLB and is ready to start today, but he's being blocked by the overrated and moody Molina and the Cardinals sent him down to AAA since he's blocked.
Tyler O'Neal (white) OFer is a top rated prospect with big power
Harrison Bader(white) plays good CF defense and is a well rounded player. I think he made the bench this year.
Gyorko could easily replace and outhit Wong at 2B, Carpenter could go to 3B, and Luke Voit could play 1B

Chicago has a black problem disguised as a gun problem just like every other urban shithole in Amerika 2.0.

The three white players(Starters), Carpenter, Dejong, and Gyorko combined to go 7-10 with 5 runs scored, 4 RBI, HR(Dejong's 3rd). Even the winning white pitcher, Mikolas won the game and hit a 2 run HR, so they were responsible for 6 of the runs scored! As the Cards beat the Brewers today, 8-4.
Leadoff hitter Dexter Fowler got his first hit and RBI of the season.

Bryce Harper hit his 3rd HR already, in past 2 days! A 3 run shot against the Braves.

The "make potential gun buyers take a test" idea, with one test to purchase a firearm and a stricter test for concealed carry, which has been floated around before, may have some unintended consequences for the liberals if it passes. There is a certain group that tends not to do well on written tests, and as for marksmanship...well, I've seen members of this group hold their pieces sideways at the range many times. We know how well that works out. These...individuals may end up being barred from buying guns in record numbers. Quite a comical irony it would be, if a liberal gun control law had to get voided due to liberals' own "disparate impact" policy.

Just two days after getting his first MLB win, Japanese star Shohei Ohtani hits his first HR in his first AB. A three-run blast. He finished 3-4, 3 RBI, and 2 runs.
Ohtani, 6'4, 200lb., P/DH for the LA Angels is the first player since Babe Ruth to win as a starting pitcher, then start and homer as a non-pitcher in his next game.

Bryce Harper, 4th HR in 3 days.
Trout, HR
Donaldson, HR
Reddick, Hou. HR, 6 RBI.
Freeman, ATL. HR
Yelich, MIL. HR

I hope that Ohtani inspires other teams, like say the Giants, to use pitchers, like say Bumgarner, in a similar way. Sometimes the Giants use Bumgarner as a pinch hitter; maybe they can let him DH in AL parks...or maybe do the unthinkable and start him at first base.

In the last four years Bumgarner has hit .224 (59 for 263) with 15 HRs.

If Bumgarner got 500 ABs a season, one would expect him to have a higher average as he would be able to get in a rhythm. I would expect him to hit .260 - .280 with 20-25 HRs given 500 ABs in a season.

I agree. Ohtani gets the start today and goes for his second victory! He's hitting .389 and has 3 HR's. He will bat ninth also.
After hitting two HR's early, Mike Trout in a little slump. I look for him to have good day.
Bryce Harper remains hot, hitting his MLB leading 5th HR yesterday!

The top 4 HR hitters are white. I know it's early.
Harper 5
Blackmon 4
Davidson 4
Dozier 4
Trea Turner is tied for the MLB league in SB with 4 and hasn't been caught stealing yet!

Top Pitchers, Wins
McCarthy, ATL: 2-0
Ottavino, COL: 2-0
Porcello, BOS: 2-0
Mike Leake, SEA: 2-0
Chris Hatcher. OAK: 2-0
Patrick Corbin, ARI: 2-0
Robbie Ray, ARI: 2-0
Jacob DeGrom, NYM: 2-0

LA's Ohtani flirts a no hitter. One hitter through 7 and 12 K's
