Since 2005, Iowa has started 11, 13, 15, 15, 13, 12, 11, 12, 16, 13, 14, 14 and 16 whites. On the first official depth chart of the season they are projected to have 15 white starters. Let's hope the Hawkeyes have another successful season.

Players to look out for listed on the two deep depth chart include QB Peyton Mansell, WR Kyle Groeneweg, TE Shaun Beyer, DT Tyler Linderbaum, DT Garret Jansen, LB Jack Hockaday, S John Milani.

QB Nathan Stanley was a pleasant surprise last year and should only build off his strong first season as a starter. The defensive line may have 3 NFL draft picks on it next year as well!

Offense -
QB - Nathan Stanley
FB - Brady Ross
WR - Nick Easley
TE - TJ Hockenson
LT - Mark Kallenberger
LG - Ross Reynolds
C - Keegan Render
RG - Cole Banwart

Defense -
DE - Anthony Nelson
DT - Matt Nelson
DT - Sam Brincks
DE - Parker Hesse
LB - Nick Niemann
LB - Kristian Welch
S - Jake Gervase

Thanks Leofan.

Iowa is that rare team that you can instinctively get behind every year without too much of a fuss. There is usually something to cheer about in Hawkeye land and unlike a lot of programs Iowa is a program that is as steady as it comes.

Not everything falls into place. Last year I was disappointed that the white WRs were used as an afterthought.

This season's team offers up the same real diversity you would like to see in more programs and as always I will be rooting for them.

Their home games are quite an experience as they are tied into the children's hospital that overlooks the stadium. It is a difficult situation for those families but Iowa puts a positive spin on their ordeals by integrating the kids into the whole football scene. Who doesn't want to see sick kids have a good time.

Iowa gains another paleface starter on defense at the MLB position as Hockaday replaces Jones.

According to coaches, Jones was struggling in the first quarter of their game with NIU, so he was pulled for Hockaday. Hockaday now listed as the starting MLB in their latest depth chart. It could change back in the future if Jones can get the mental aspect down, but that's where it's at right now. That gives them 8 on defense, including the entire front 7. They were dominant against NIU.

Iowa defensive backs Matt Hankins and Trey Creamer have been suspended this week against Purdue for a violation of team-conduct rules. Both second-year players were charged Saturday night with disorderly conduct at a house party in Iowa City. Neither player traveled with the Hawkeyes to Penn State over the weekend. Hankins started Iowa's first four games at cornerback.
