2017 Tennessee Volunteers

[Deceptive Speed]

The Volunteers started 7 whites in 2016. I couldn't find the previous years. The Vols look to start 7 whites again in 2017. Butch Jones's Vols are coming off a good 2016 season with a record of 9-4.

The biggest position battle for the Vols this offseason has been with (Jr) QB Quinten Dormady 6'4 222, and Mullatto, black quarterback RS(Fr) Jarrett Guarantano 6'4 200. I've read that white QB Quinten Dormady has the edge for the job, lets hope their right!

Caste buster alert, Rs(Sr) WR Josh Smith 6'1 206 is the leading contendor to be the starting slot receiver (although he really has an outside game). TE Ethan Wolf returns as starter for his Senior season, hopefully he gets a shot in NFL! The Vols got some good O-line depth. Also, (Sr) LB Colton Jumper 6'2 230 is in a fight for the MLB spot with black Darrin Kirkland Jr., only time will tell. Former 4-star recruit (Jr) LB Dillon Bates 6'3 225, hasn't lived up to expectations apparently looks to be a primary back-up for OLB, and MLB, regardless he should break-out this year.

(Sr) LB- Colton Jumper has been having a great season! He's emerged as the Vols best defensive player, he has 5 sacks already at LB thru 5 games

Looks like Dormady is being demoted and mulatto Guarantano is taking over

In this case of Dormady being benched for black quarterback Guarantano, I must say Dormady had a terrible start to the season. I wish it wasn't a black quarterback who replaced him, but Dormady has gotta play better if he wants to get back in there..

Tennessee started Fr. QB Will McBride vs Mizzou this past week, passing 16/32 for 139 with 1 TD/2 Int's, while running for 63 yards on 14 carries! Apparently Guarantano was out injured, hopefully McBride hangs on to the job. This likely spells the end of Jr. Quinten Dormady at Tennessee, maybe he can get another shot during the off-season.
