We have another fast white American sighting and it happened a month ago. Senior Wayne Sherbahn ( trust me that is the real spelling. Iaaf.org has it spelled differently ) of Indiana Tech ran a 10.22 with no wind early last May. I have never heard of the kid but his bio says he was only running 11.1 his freshman year at Tech. We have not had this kind of 100 meter depth in the US in how long? Teeters, the USC kid, Quinn, Dusty Fisher and now this kid. Not to shabby.

Sherbahn came 2nd at the NAIA Championships with a 10.21w.
But apparently he pulled his hamstring, fell, and broke his arm.
So he's done for the year.

Some dude I have never heard of who ran for Devin Quinn's Illinois squad is 26 year old South African Hendrik Maartens. He just ran a legal 20.40 wind legal 200 meters. I guess South Africa might be starting to get some quality white sprinters back. They also have 3 of the top ten under 18 110 high hurdlers whom are all white trudging forward. Speaking of Devin Quinn he has a junior teammate in Cole Henderson who has run a legal 10.51 this year and a slightly winded 10.42. His name sounds familiar but from a football standpoint.

In Germany we have a Talent: Konstanze Klosterhalfen (Born 1997) 1500m : 3:59,30 (Today in Rome), 800m : 1:59,65, 5000m = 14:51,38 et.

yes, Lemaitre finished hard to squeeze out that 2nd place but Tortu virtually held him and had he seen Webb (obscured by Lemaitre) he could possibly have dipped for 3rd. He certainly didn't disappoint his home crowd. Great talent.
Schippers getting some speed in the legs with her sub 11. I'm guessing she isn't in peak 200 form yet.
Andrew Pozzi was looking at a close 2nd in the hurdles till he hit 7,8,9 and allowed two guys to pass him.

Tortu's PB was just over 20.9 coming into this race so a 20.34 was a huge jump for him, I think at 18 y old he just lacked a bit of strength in the last 30m's or so. Great race and one to keep a close eye on.

Katie Hall of Georgia, won the NCAA women's Long Jump.
Her winning jump was 22ft, 1 inch.
She is the HS record holder.
Glad she's made a successful transition from high school to college. Many do not.

no idea as to why, the dude can run 6.5+ 60m so he can obviously get going quick enough, as I mentioned last year his left arm movement around the bend is not very tight and his left shoulder actually goes backwards in the bend.... I am not a world class coach by any means but that is what I see...

A Tortu thread will be due soon....from my anyalsis of the 200 meters in Rome, he ran with great form and was actually 1st place at 120 meters...I read up on him and there was a article form a month back that said he grew 1.5 inches in height this year, meaning his body is still growing and developing. I see some very very fast times for him the next 2-3 years.

He may be afraid to hit the curve too fast since he is tall with long legs and may loose balance causing him to get out his lane and DQ'ing, thats one thought on it, but he still have that great closing speed

my daughter and I were discussing celebrations like this and how many times athletes end up hurting themselves accidentally....it is a shame for Tortu as he was really starting to put it together....

Kristoffer Hari 10.37 - the youngster from Denmark.
Angel David Rodriguez 10.29 - pretty old sprinter from Spain. Still running fast. (nothing yet from Bruno Hortelano, last year's sensation)
Pavel Maslak 10.30 (very fast for a 400m runner)
Karsten Warholm 44.87 - Norwegian record for the 21 yr old
Fabrizio Donato 17.32 - 41 yrs old. New 40+ world record

Thanks for the update jacknyc. Some good results.

Very glad to see Hari finally get a race in. He hadn't raced since a bad hamstring pull in his last indoor 60 meter race
which he was leading before he got hurt. I can see him breaking into the 10.20s this summer if healthy and he is still
only 19 years of age so he has plenty of time to progress!

Angel Rod. still runs because he loves to sprint. Can't argue that. Very nice time for him.

Maslak is a beast over any distance on any track. Especially indoors!

Never heard of Warholm but could we have a future Wariner type sprinter coming up in Europe? Time will tell. What
an amazing time for the young lad.

Donato is just an ageless wonder. True respect for a great career.


Now I'm waiting to see some of the german sprinters get it going. Time to see some fast times leading
up to the world champs.

Who in the hell is roger Gurski. The kid is 19 ( 20 in July ) and just ran a 20.42 200 meters in real cold rainy conditions. You think he would have been mentioned before but I have never heard of the guy until today. He is built like a bull dog. He looks like a cross between a young Wayne Rooney and Richard Kilty. I know build does not determine speed but I wonder what this kid could do in the 100 if he just stuck to training for it. A 20.42 says at least 10.4 100 meter speed. Look what Polish sprinter Marcin Urbas did 18 years ago. He broke 20 flat in the 200 and never ran below 10.4 in the 100. Another one to keep an eye on. Because he has no previous close times I wondering if there could even be a bigger jump in his times down the road?

I guess he ran in the World junior championships last year. I still don't remember reading about him. He does have a personal best of 10,32 in the 100 form this late May.
