Oregon St. started 10 whites in 2007/2008, 13 in 2009, 10 in 2010, 8 in 2011, 5 in 2012, 8 in 2013 and 2014. Could not find a 2015 write up and in 2016 they started 6. In 2017 they drop down to 5 projected white starters.

RB Ryan Nall is obvious focal point of this team. Big, athletic and fast - he should have a good season if he remains healthy. QB Jake Luton is an intriguing QB who transferred from the JC ranks - he is 6'7, 234 lbs and put up great numbers at Ventura college - 3551 yards and 40 tds. Luton should keep defenses honest and the passing game will create holes for the uber-athletic Nall to run through. Nall is probably the best kept secret at RB in the nation.

Oregon state was 102nd in rushing yards allowed in 2016 - the all poly-black defense returns again.

Players to look out for include QB Darrell Garreston, WR Timmy Hernandez, S Austin Hudson, S David Morris?

Gary Anderson resigned today. He did nothing to revive Oregon St. and so much for all of that athleticism he was talking about when he left Wisconsin for the PAC 12 - I think he referred to it as juice.

Oregon State football coach Gary Andersen and the university agreed to mutually part ways on Monday.

Beavers AD Scott Barnes called Andersen's decision "unprecedented in major college athletics." In leaving Corvallis, Andersen agreed to waive all future payments and contract obligations. He had just agreed to a contract extension through 2021 this past December. Andersen ended up going 7-23 during his tenure. While things looked like they could potentially turn around this fall, the Beavers are 1-5 and have lost their last four games by a combined score of 180-54. "Coaching is not about the mighty dollar," Andersen said. "It is about teaching and putting young men in a position to succeed on and off the field. Success comes when all parties involved are moving in the same direction." CB coach Cory Hall was named interim coach.

Is Ryan Nall being used as the featured runner since Anderson quit? Mike Leach thinks very highly of him:

WSU’s Mike Leach says Stanford’s Bryce Love isn’t Pac-12’s best running back
By Tom FitzGerald

Bryce Love might lead the nation in rushing yards per game by a 35-yard cushion over his next closest competitor, but Washington State head coach Mike Leach doesn’t think the Stanford junior is even the best running back in the Pac-12 Conference.

On his weekly teleconference Monday, Leach rated Oregon State junior Ryan Nall as the best.

“We’ve got a lot of great running backs in this conference,” he said when asked about Love, whom the No. 18 Cardinal hope to have back when they visit the No. 25 Cougars at 12:30 p.m. Saturday. “I actually think the one at Oregon State is the best one in the conference.

“First of all, he’s big (6-2, 237). Second of all, he’s faster than you think. Third of all, he’s very elusive. The other thing is, the guy catches the ball really well. The guy blocks pretty good.”

He said, “Everybody in the stadium knows that he’s going to get the ball,” although the same is true of Love.
