As most of you know, the NHL will be going to 31 teams next season with the addition of the Las Vegas Golden Knights. I actually like the choice of Vegas; it's the city's first pro sports franchise, and I think the city deserves a chance. Hopefully people will take a liking to the new team. I also like the choice of their mascot and logo as well.

The Expansion Draft, during which Vegas will get to select one player from the other 30 teams, is set to take place from June 18-20, with the results announced on the 21st. There are certain protection rules involving different players and how many defensemen, forwards, and goalies the Golden Knights can take.

The NHL Entry Draft is June 23rd and 24th, just days after the expansion draft. The top two prospects are considered to be center Nolan Patrick and center/RW Nico Hischier. Both of them have some great skills, but neither are considered "slam dunk" prospects like Auston Mathews or Connor McDavid. Regardless, they'll be the top two picks for the Devils and Flyers.

The only minority that I've seen lately in 1st round mock drafts is Asian Nicholas Suzuki. Kailer Yamamoto has some Japanese ancestry, but it looks like he's at least 3/4 white, and isn't exactly going to help the powers that be bring any underprivileged "people of color" into hockey.

Other than Suzuki, there's one black player who may go in the first, and that is Oliver Pierre-Joseph, a lanky defensemen. I've seen him going to Toronto at 17, to falling out of the first round. I imagine there's more, but those are the ones that I've seen. The draft should be a nearly all-white affair this year!

Exciting times for the NHL after wrapping up another great Playoffs and Stanley Cup Finals! It'll be interesting to see how this Vegas Franchise fares in the Nevada dry heat!

Yep, this was probably the best year yet for the league. The fanaticism of the Nashville fans helped, along with the music celebrities singing the national anthem there. In Pittsburgh, various Pirates and Steelers took in games. Charles Barkley came out as a big hockey fan, which the media of course ate up. Seems to be a lot more general appreciation of how tough the NHL playoffs are and what an achievement it is to prevail and hoist the Stanley Cup. Hockey should continue to grow despite the best efforts of ESPN and most of the rest of the sports media to downplay it.

the NHL should be a white only professional league...unfortunately there are more than a few negros playing hockey in Canada and the USA, as well as far too many Jewish owners and staff at the NHL level to keep the negros out. PK the wimp Subbans status does not help either....

If you watched the finals at all, the cameras were on Subban as much as they could be. Heck, he was about shown more than anybody in the finals. I had to listen to a couple of the games on the radio, and sure enough, the primary Predators' pre-game "story" was on Subban leaving Montreal. It was great seeing Nashville get behind the Predators in the playoffs, but as long as their good, Subban will continue to be one of the "faces" of the league, even though he's not at the level of any of the other "faces" of the league, like Crosby, Ovechkin, Patrick Kane, Connor McDavid, etc. At least this draft looks to be better, with only 1-2 other blacks players (I think) besides Joseph (mentioned in the first post) even being considered to be drafted.

I do agree that this season was probably one of the best for the NHL in a while. I just hope they're able to start marketing the game a bit better as well, which has always been a problem.

In addition to the three players you mentioned, there are a few other non-Whites in this year’s draft.

North American skaters (number preceding player's’ name indicates final rank):

14. Jason Robertson (LW, Kingston Frontenacs, OHL):

Thanks Rebajlo! I've been busy, and as you can tell from my lack of depth above, I didn't have time to delve into a lot of the lower ranked guys. I don't think there'll be a draft any more without at least a few minorities in it. There seems to be a push to get Asians into hockey - what's with all of them popping up this year all of the sudden? Maybe it's just me not knowing, but I haven't seen many ranked this high. At least the draft is nearly all-white yet, and you can bet that at least a few of these guys (despite the best efforts of Bettman and Co.) won't make it into the NHL.

However, as we've seen with Subban, any average black player is going to get their status blown up big time.

The results of Las Vegas' selections will be announced during the NHL's awards show tonight. Apparently, there are a LOT of deals in place, so there's going to be some player movement.

The draft starts Friday - it should be a fun event! I'll try to keep tabs on it this year.

The draft starts tonight!! It'll be nice actually being able to understand the players getting drafted when they give interviews. The number of minority players being draft will likely be lower than the 11 whites drafted in the NBA last night, and there are 7 rounds! We should all be thankful we've still got a "major sport" like the NHL to watch.

As I mentioned, New Jersey will be choosing between two players more than likely: Nolan Patrick and Nico Hischier. I'm not the best evaluator of hockey highlights, but both of these guys look great.

Nolan Patrick

Nico Hischier

The Penguins traded their first round pick to obtain Ryan Reaves of the Blues, a black semi-enforcer with minimal offensive and defensive skills. He has enough ability to at least play part-time on a fourth line. The only enforcer the Penguins had this past season was Tom Sestito, who couldn't do anything but run guys and fight and was rarely with the team because of his utter lack of skill.

At least the Pens realized they had to get tougher as teams took liberties with them all season long and then more so in the playoffs. The Penguins are smallish and had no tough guys, so teams could bang Crosby, Guentzel, Sheary and the rest with virtual impunity. That's a major reason they had so many injuries in 2016-17. I'm hoping they get at least one more tough player who has more talent than Reaves.

Too bad there aren't tough guy power forwards anymore like Kevin Stevens and Rick Tocchet. Tocchet was mean as hell and was a great fighter and also had some nice scoring years, led by his 48 goals and 61 assists in 1992-93.

I was honestly hoping for more than Reaves to fill that role. Even a lot of regular Pens fans aren't happy about the trade; they gave up a first rounder and a decent center in Sundqvist to get him. The other half of Penguins fans think he'll be some revelation completely keeping guys off of Malkin and Crosby, etc., and I think they'll be pretty disappointed with that. I think he'll do what Don said, playing on the fourth line a lot of nights when the team needs toughness. But as you mention, they're going to need more than Reeve's 8-9 minutes on the ice to help protect their star players better. Looking a Penguins prospects, a lot of guys fit the young and fast mold, and aren't exactly very big. Daniel Sprong, a winger who's the Penguins best prospect right now on Pen's AHL affiliate is another smaller and faster player. I know somebody like Reaves is needed to toughen the team up somewhat, but I hope it's not at the expense of one of the Penguins' younger, more skilled guys not developing. I like guys like Archibald on the 4th line, and I hope his playing time isn't completely taken away.

Getting back to the draft, in addition to the three minority players in the first round (although Yamamoto is at least 3/4 white), there were only a few more drafted, with Tyszka (Canadiens), Robertson (Stars), Joly (Flames), Inamoto (Panthers), and Parker Foo (Blackhawks) (not listed by Rebajlo) making up all of the minority skaters from what I could see. So, 8(7) out of 217 isn't so bad. I think the other teams had all-white drafts. I know Pittsburgh's picks were all white this year.

Looking at prospects next year, there are two minority prospects, Jett Woo and Akil Thomas, who are getting first round looks.

I think there were 6 Finns taken in the first round. And as usual lots of Swedes were drafted. Those two countries are both gold mines for producing quality NHL players. There's a steady supply of Russians who want to play in North America. Canada will always keep producing plenty of top-end talent, and more talented White athletes take up the sport in the U.S. every year.

I don't see the racial demographics of the league changing for a very long time if ever. And if the national TV ratings keep increasing it will become difficult to suppress the NHL's popularity much longer.

As you are aware, there are literally hundreds of draft-eligible players each year so I limited my post to those listed in the final official NHL prospect rankings and those who had dropped out after the midterm assessment. ;)

I believed that Parker Foo (LW, Brooks Bandits, AJHL) perhaps had a very marginal chance of being selected in the 6th or 7th round. As things went, the Blackhawks chose him in the 5th round (144th overall). Foo played for the same AJHL team as defenseman Cale Makar, who the Avalanche picked in the first round at number four.

I was surprised that Foo was drafted higher than Skyler McKenzie (LW, Portland Winterhawks, WHL) who went to Winnipeg in the 7th round (198th overall). But I guess McKenzie’s comparatively small size worked against him despite playing in the stronger WHL.

Far more Asians than blacks play hockey in Canada. That’s because Canada is loaded with east Asians, Indians, Sikhs, Pakis, et cetera while the Negro population is comparatively small. Blacks are also less likely to be involved in hockey as their so-called “culture” conveniently dismisses the demanding game as a “White boys’ sport”.

When one considers the minuscule number of Negroes who play hockey at all levels in North America one realises that blacks have become significantly overrepresented in the NHL since the 1990s.

There are far too many Asians in junior hockey for my liking. Here's a link to the scoring stats for the 2016-2017 WHL:

http://whl.ca/stats/players/257

In addition to Kailer Yamamoto (first round pick by the Oilers) you’ll notice the name of his younger brother Keanu in addition to Tyler Wong and the Indian Tyler Sadhu. Earlier in this post I mentioned the AJHL’s Brooks Bandits in relation to Parker Foo. Well, the Bandits had a second Asian on the roster, Oliver Chau.

I don’t know if you are aware of this but Nick Suzuki’s younger brother Ryan was the number one overall pick in the OHL’s 2017 Priority Draft. In case anyone is wondering, he went to the Barrie Colts.

The lack of interest in hockey among the Caste Football fraternity is quite disappointing. The NFL and NBA threads generate dozens of pages of replies while the NHL draft - complete with expansion draft - passes almost without comment. This thread now boasts a whopping twelve posts by a grand total of five contributors...

Yes the caste system is trying to be implemented in hockey thankfully the NHL players continue to make sure the "competition" gets owned so bad it makes the situation laughable, and yes blacks are way over represented meaning 3-5 whites whoi should be in the NHL are screwed out of it.

Rebajlo,

I was in no way criticizing you for not including Foo, I just mentioned that since I was using your post as a "base" of sorts to check for minority prospects. I simply noted that Foo was not in your post, just so people weren't going back up and trying to find him.

I'm hoping that more CF posters become interested in hockey when next season rolls around.

I know I'm going to try and pay more attention this year. Most years, I usually just watch a few Penguins regular season games followed by their post season run. This year, I actually made an attempt to watch a few other games, and was pleasantly surprised. I'm going to try and pay more attention this year, and am hoping other posters follow suit.

Of course, certain minorities are overrepresented, but I agree with Don in that the demographics of hockey will remain more or less unchanged.

We'll see how many black players are actually on rosters. A lot of them are over 30 at this point, like Reaves, Ward, Iginla, Oduya, Byfuglien, Daley, Bellemare, etc. It's a good bet nearly all of these guys will be retired in 2-3 years. Given the limited number of black prospects as well, not all of them will make it into the league. Like PK Subban's brother Malcolm for instance, is not looking like he'll ever be a regular NHL goalie, even Bruins fans are calling him a bust as of now. Besides the manufactured "star" status for PK Subban, there are no other black "star" players, and no Asian stars as of now. I'd say the next closest thing to a star would be the Flyers' Wayne Simmonds or Columbus' Seth Jones. By and large, most of the black players are usually obscure players like a Reaves or Oduya, and will never be the "star" player, which is important given the media's fixation on star players.

Wayne Simmonds is a very good power forward. Iginla was a big star for a long time.

I don't mind some black players in the league. It's the ones that act like a-holes like Evander Kane and Ray Emery (think he's out of the league now thankfully) that I can't stand, but they seem to be few and far between in hockey, probably because it's such a white sport when it comes to traditions and the way players handle themselves. A defenseman like Trevor Daly simply goes about his business and is a team player. Same with Iginla. Former goalie Kevin Weekes is impressive as an analyst for the NHL Network; he's well spoken and seems like a genuinely nice guy. I don't think hockey's in any danger of being "urbanized."

I agree with your post, Don. That's an important distinction for me as well. It's nice seeing somebody like Daley make a nice play, and keep playing the game, rather than chest pounding and celebrating. Another reason why I like watching the NHL, there usually isn't much buffoonery and clownish antics to speak of. I'm fine with a few black players, just as long as it doesn't go the way of other "major" sports.

Free agency starts pretty soon, so if anything happens, just post about it here. Looking back on other threads, I've seen a few of our posters posting about their own teams and what not. I'm hoping they'll be able to make their way back to do that. I think we could have some good discussions on the NHL here.

I know Pittsburgh still has to fill their bottom two center spots yet, as well as getting a couple of blue liners. Their depth on defense was tested big time in the playoffs, but I'm thinking there'll be some additions there.

I changed the thread title to include free agency.

I think the best way to get into hockey is to pick a favorite team and start watching some of their regular season games. During the regular season I mostly only watch the Penguins, but in the playoffs besides watching the Pens' games I watch and enjoy any playoff game when I have time. I was hooked on the Washington-Toronto first round series and Edmonton-San Jose. You can't beat the non-stop end to end action, and the fans in the arenas go nuts. After soccer, hockey fans may be the loudest and most devoted to their teams.

I agree with Don. I don't see any drastic changes in the racial demographics concerning the NHL. There simply are no future indications that point to changes. So CHEER ON!!! And from a noted pessimist like me that is saying something. And I think, probably like most others here at CB that it is damn REFRESHING given what is going on in most of the other major sports like baseball which is actively pursuing blacks at the expense of whites. Baseball isn't looking for "diversity." What they are pursuing is the "targeted selection" of American blacks.

Thanks for the help, Don! I also encourage CF users to pick and follow a team.

Shadowlight also has a good post. I don't think the NHL is actively trying to get whites out of the sport, and there really isn't a caste system in football as there is in the NBA or NFL, hell even the college versions of their sports. Although the NHL of course has their token "Hockey is for Everyone" programs, I don't think it's like baseball at all, where the number of Latino players has simply exploded the last few years.

I'm hoping the NHL's popularity really explodes in the coming years. If there is a Stanley Cup Finals series like Pittsburgh/Chicago for instance, I think that could definitely help people watching the sport in the future.

Jack -

No worries, mate. I took your comment as the purely innocent statement of fact that it was. You’re a cool guy whose posts across the entire forum are always informative and enjoyable.

My own overall post count is so embarrassingly weedy that I probably shouldn’t be remarking upon a lack of interest in or contribution to any section but I’ve always been - to a certain extent - perplexed by hockey’s lack of appeal within the Caste Football universe.

I understand that most of our members grew up playing and watching football (the American version, that is… ;)), basketball, and baseball and that serious interest in hockey has traditionally been confined to certain areas of the United States. But beginning in 1967 the NHL has gradually expanded into most broad regions of the country, particularly during the 1990s. One would therefore assume pro-White American sports fans are acquainted with hockey and its virtually White dominated rosters. More significantly, when contrasted with the almost exclusively coal-fuelled rosters of the NFL and NBA (and their insultingly anti-White antics…), the NHL might perhaps become a lot more attractive to the discerning pro-White fellow who wishes to watch and finance a sport in which the players actually look, sound, and behave like he does.

On previous occasions, I’ve stated that if I was born after 1990 I’d never have developed even a passing interest in soccer due to the high numbers of blacks entering the game following that date. Believe it or not, I quite like American football as a sport in a strictly conceptual sense and if the NFL’s “playing staff” mirrored that of the NHL I’d probably be a full-blown enthusiast. Yet the demographics of American football back in the late 1970s and early 1980s automatically prevented me from becoming even a casual fan and I’ve always despised the NFL and everything it represents. I genuinely marvel how any race-conscious American male under the age of forty can possibly pay anything more than fleeting headline attention to that particular league. Investing any time or thought in the thick-lipped circus which is the NBA is even more of a mystery to me. But that’s just the ever-extreme Rebajlo... and I’m sure that many Americans view soccer as a sport for poofs and greasers… ;)

I’m not implying that the racial demographics of the NHL are about to change. I’m just saying that more and more Asians are filtering into the lower echelons of the professional game. The following statement may sound like its filled to the brim with poisonous hatred…but I cannot stand the sight of any non-White in hockey. Why? Because I’m sick of seeing non-Whites on the street, at work, in stores, in clubs, on television, in films, in magazines, in comic books, in parliaments, and on sports fields. I’m sick of hearing non-White voices. I’m sick of headache-inducing Negro songs being constantly played on the radio, in shops and other public places. I’m sick of passing restaurants and outlets which serve non-White food. I’m just sick to the back teeth of non-Whites in general. So I sure as hell don’t want to see a single Negro, Jap, chink, curry, Paki, camel jockey, beaner or any other non-European in - of all places - the NHL. :D

There is a movement in Canada to get more and more minorities involved in Hockey. In the last 10-15 years the Canadian Junior team has had at least 1-3 minorities make the roster over better suited white players.

Womens Hockey has been given preferential treatment in Canada in regards to ice times for leagues, lotto monies, endorsements etc etc I mean who even watches womens hockey knowing a boys Pee Wee triple AAA team would beat the Olympic level womens teams....just like soccer.

I believe NHL should be kept white and strictly Canadian and American players. With the influx of Europeans especially this years draft it will be a matter of time before NHL is European...... I doubt very much the level of play would be less with just North American players...

One can dream right?....

P.S. about 10 years ago or so I was playing Mens hockey, some of the wives of the players were on the top level womens hockey team in Province(BC) they wanted to play us for a tuneup for a big tournament they were going to, well needless to say we beat them 24-0 with little effort.

Cheers....

Cheers....

Its about white dispossession and thats the issue, meritocracy and true freedom is the way to go, not artificial rigged imposition that denies the qualified and talented their fair shot

A really strong class elected to the Hall of Fame, led by Teemu Selanne, Paul Kariya, Dave Andreychuk and Mark Recchi. Unfortunately they had to also add a female, Danielle Goyette.

Sprintstar -

The Jews (no triple parentheses required here...) and their venal, self-hating white leftist catspaws in concert with the eternally White-reviling Negroes have been doing their utmost to force “minorities” into hockey for longer than people think. The NHL Diversity program - which has morphed into “Hockey Is For Everyone” - began all the way back in 1995. But the tiny number of “minority” players who have managed even a single NHL appearance is a pitifully paltry return for all of the money, time, and effort invested in such an ambitious venture.

Despite this embarrassing lack of success, the Yids and their white puppets predictably refuse to admit defeat and have been joined in their quest to darken Canadian hockey by the Chinese, Indians, and other Asians, whose demographic weight, economic leverage, and consequent political and social influence is expanding by the minute, particularly in British Columbia and Ontario.

The following story appeared on The Hockey News website earlier this year:

If the Chinese “diaspora” sticks its grubby chopstick fingers into anything, the fanatically Han-supremacist Chinese Communist state will inevitably involve itself by bankrolling, bribing, and bullying through the agency of some sort of “billionaire businessman” proxy.

Yes I tend to agree, even about China. I have been to China many times and have even gone ice skating in the rink inside the Global Center(biggest building in the world under 1 roof) It was very interesting to see the interest in Hockey although not many of the people there that day could skate well. The push for minorities in hockey and the preferential treatment given to girls and womens hockey is not a good thing. I never watch female hockey........just the one game played against them many years ago...
