Yeah, Bennett never came near his epic '04 numbers with McNair as his QB. He and Volek were unstoppable, but Jeff Fisher went right back to McNair when he was healthy. That marked the end of Fisher's curious short era when he had the relatively White friendliest team in the league, except for McNair at QB of course. Bennett was starting at WR, Eddie Berlin was a backup receiver that played some, the line was 4/5 White, and Frank Wycheck was the TE for a number of years, but not during Bennett's big season in '04. And the Titans defense was 12/25 White in that same time period, likely the closest a team has come to a majority of White players on defense in at least 30 years.
And then it quickly ended and Fisher went back to being his normal Caste clown self. I remember he accused Volek of "betraying" him somehow, though the details of just how were never explained, and Volek left Tennessee after the '05 season. And the obvious superstar Bennett went back to getting his usual 500 to 700 yards from McNair, while when Volek started 8 games in '04, Bennett finished 80/1,247/11, the yardage being tops in the AFC that year, and included a memorable Monday Night game when Drew went 12/233/3, which Uncle Al called in the usual semi-stoic style he does when White players are kicking ass.
