I missed the tip off but I think he started. Ingles is a good shooter and passer. His game goes great with Hayward. I would love to see Jokic on this team. He is amazing but I highly doubt Denver would let him get away even when his contract ends. I'm really happy for the Jazz Fans as it has been a while since they had a good team to root for.

Yes indeed! Gordon Hayward is my favorite player....followed him since his Butler days leading to the near miraculous 1/2 court shot off the rim at the buzzer to stun Duke in Championship! He's got solid all around game...smooth; yet explosive! 40 pt game..then w food poison in between...then 27 , 31, & 26!

I can't wait for the Boston Celtics to be eliminated, just so the media can shut up about Isaiah Thomas' sister who died in a car accident before the playoffs. Assuming he had a close relationship with her, that would be a personal tragedy, for sure. But, goddamn, the media is absolutely milking the **** out of it. Everything the guy does is "for his dead sister." I'm pretty sure he was the teams leading scorer averaging almost 30 points per game while she was alive. What was he playing for then? Anyway, the way the media beats these side stories to death is so annoying to me.

Hayward had a subpar Game 1 with only 12 points on 4/15 shooting. This series is his "Golden" opportunity to elevate his status in the NBA from really good player to superstar player. I'd like to see him play with a little more fire, leadership and aggression. He has all the skills, but he needs to combine it with a junk yard dog mentality, like Larry Bird. Either way, he and Kevin Love are the two best White American players in the league, and both are still playing.

He is rarely discussed in the media so it is easy to miss the fact that Gordon Hayward is eligible for free agency next season. Last night after they got swept by the eventual champs the Salt Lake city crowd was chanting his name as he exited. He is the face of the franchise, the only white player to earn that title although a case could be made for Goran Dragic of the Heat and many predict Porzingas will take over that role for the Knicks although he needs to mature as a person before he deserves such a title.
Gordon played pretty well against the Warriors, a team he has struggled with in the past but the truth is he is surrounded by average talent. I know the Center has improved but he is still an awkward force on offense. Beyond that, Utah has a few decent players but this team needs a giant upgrade to get themselves over the hump and contend for a title. Which begs the question will Hayward jump to another team with more promise? Some have mentioned Oklahoma and teaming up with Westbrook to give him a serious number two man while others have mentioned Boston which would reunite him with his college coach. I am of two minds. They love him in Utah and it would be nice to see the Jazz continue their upward swing. Then again Hayward would get more national exposure if he ended up on teams like Oklahoma City or Boston who are probably closer to contending for a title than Utah. Tough call but he is one damn fine all around player who is an excellent team player too so he could bring a team that is close to championship level over the top.

Well the Wizards lost to Boston and are out of the playoffs, but the bright spot was the Celtics were led by Kelly Olynyk who scored 26 points off the bench on 9-12 shooting.

Gordon really stepped up his game this year. He became the unquestioned leader of the Jazz, and I don't see why he would want to leave. The Jazz are a very good team, but were unable to stay healthy all year. Between Gordon and Rudy Golbert, (who was robbed for DPoY), they have two of the best players at their respective positions. They need a better PG, as Exum seems like a bust and Hill can't stay healthy.

The Jazz are young, and hungry. The Clippers will break up this off-season, San Antonio is getting long in the tooth and the Warriors won't be able to afford to keep that team together for a whole lot longer. I may be biased since the Jazz are the team I followed as a kid (they are very white friendly), but don't sleep on the Jazz.

Gordon spent the off season working with Kobe Bryant, and he said that Kobe really helped him step up his game. He also put on a solid 12-15 pounds of muscle. He plays with a chip on his shoulder which is paramount for any white player in this league. Gordon is a stud, and moves like a Point Guard. That's because he was only 5'4 his Sophomore year and he played guard (Dirk got his ability from playing guard as well). Then he grew to 6'8" and we are just now seeing what he can do. in this league.

I grew up watching during the 90s and I would rather watch reruns of that time than now.

Only team worth watching is Spurs, who incidentally play a European inspired offense and "miracously" manage to make guys like David Lee look like a good player again.

GSW is a decent team, but has some very unlikeable players like Draymond Green.

Mostly the NBA sucks because the NBA is corrupt as hell. Changing the rules to never calling travel, never calling carry or palming, moving screens, all done to mask that the players today are by magnitudes worse fundamentally than in the past.

It's often claimed that the league is just so athletic and 3 point skilled now, that there is no need for the so called fundamentals of the past, yet Spurs go out and demolish the Rockets with sound fundamentally sound basketball.

I could write novels on this topic. The truth is the modern NBA player is uncoacheable due to low IQ and selfishness. How else is the Spurs able to maximize the play of role players? Because the select players on exactly their intelligence and willingness to be coached. It used to be that players were drafted on the same things that Spurs look for, but today players are drafted almost exclusively on athleticism, so the NBA had to change the rules to allow the dumbed down players to look like stars. I remember the early 00s before the rule changes but with the same dumbass AAU players. It looked like ****. Usually that era is called to be a defensive era, but to me it was a horrendously bad offensive era. I remember watching brick after brick from mid-range, the bread and butter of basketball on the highest level. The NBA responded by changing the rules to mask this weakness and make the mid range less important.

Anyways, I completely agree with your post. I often find myself hoping the Spurs win, as they're one of the last remaining teams in the NBA to play this style of basketball, and it is pretty fun to watch. The usually have a few white contributors as well.

I've posted about this in the NHL section, but the NBA playoffs suck now. The talent is concentrated at the top half of the league, and with the black talent pool in the United States shrinking, it offsets the skill that Euro stars bring into the NBA. Look at the bottom of the league. It's garbage. Hell, the 4-8 seeds in the East were garbage this year too. Even DWFs acknowledge how bad the East is. If the NBA is as "talented" as ever, why is this the case? Why are the playoffs teams that are trash? It's disgraceful that the Warriors and Cavs are going to make the Finals undefeated. Yes, they have great players, but it's more of an indictment of how sh*tty the rest of the NBA has become.

Compare it to the NHL for instance, when an 8 seed can get hot and make a post season run. Nashville was that team this year. The Kings won the Stanley Cup a few years back as an 8 seed. That would NEVER happen in the NBA. The 8 seed is lucky if they win a game. Same with the 7 seed most of the time. The NBA has zero parity.

I like watching college basketball, but I've never been able to get into the NBA.

Great culture and crowds with these games too. Yep the NBA has done everything to reduce defense and destroy the inside game for junk 3 ball attempts all day.

This league has the least talent of all of the big 4 North American leagues. Some of it is the size of the players as only true outliers can play certain positions but much of it is nobody but pockets middle class people play the game seriously. 12 percent of the population are getting spread out rather thin and it shows with the quality of play.

Ps will anybody but bloggers raise the question of PED abuse of Lebron. His body and head size change screams of PED usage.....

That's exactly why I love to follow college basketball. It's a much better watch, and with more teams, you're able to pick and choose to watch the white players. There are always a few friendly white teams that are cheered for here. Iowa, Wisconsin, Notre Dame, Butler, Davidson, Duke (some years) Gonzaga (some years), BYU, St. Mary's, Purdue, etc. are all great teams to cheer for, and they all use a few different white players. There are a few more white college stars as well than in the NBA. That number has been increasing I feel as increasing numbers of Euro and Aussie players are playing college ball now as well.

The only reason I even pay attention to the NBA is so I can be in conversations with co-workers and friends when they inevitably bring it up.

Yes, the rules now in the NBA and to a lesser extent college ball are much more lax than they used to be. Much more travelling and palming the ball. Black players of course are allowed to get away with obvious holding, grabbing, and hand checking on the defensive end that white players don't have the privilege of being allowed to do. Another thing I've noticed is players are now allowed to take three steps before they take a jump shot. It is most obvious on a fast break when a player is on the wing, gets a pass from his teammate, doesn't take a dribble, takes one step and then jumps to a stop on both feet, and shoots a jumper. That always used to be called a walk, but now it never is.
