With Senior Bowl practices over (they are treated as more important than the game itself) it looks like quite a few of our guys made positive impressions:
QB Carson Wentz - his strong senior bowl showing is the first step, he plans to do all the drills at the combine as well. It sounds like he is making himself a viable top 10 pick.
OT Jason Spriggs - probably the best player not named Carson Wentz all week in Mobile, was pretty much perfect in drills - I think he is a late 1st round pick - reminds me of Nate Solder (same type of athlete)
OG/OC Nick Martin - not as good as his brother Zach but was damned impressive and more than held his own in drills
C Graham Glasgow - probably one of the biggest risers - dominated the Shrine Bowl and was invited to the the Senior Bowl and dominated against several 1st round projected sumos
OT Joe Dahl - answered questions about himself coming from a spread offense - they bumped him to the interior line like they seem to do with so many white OTs but he played very well
TE Nick Vanett - probably solidified a 3rd round stamp on him with his overall game - he can block as well as get out and be a reliable pass catcher
LB Kyler Fackrell - had a good week of practices and has probably solidified himself as at least a 3rd round prospect
DE Carl Nassib - has answered all the questions about him being a one year wonder by having a dominant week
DT Matt Ioannidis - if he were black he would be talked up more than he is being, he was very good all week. He was projected as a 5th/6th rounder - hopefully he gets bumped up to the 3rd/4th round. Won't surprise me if he is another Henry Anderson - a very good d-lineman pushed down the draft because he is white
Both Glen Gronkowksi and Dan Vitale played well at the underutilized FB/H-Back positions so they probably will not be more than late round picks anyways.
Ed Eagan had a nice catch and run for a TD during the drills - I hope he has a big game since he only had once practice to show himself.
I would say all the white LBs - Matakevich, Kwiatowski, Martinez, Ganus, Norris and Schobert were solid and helped more than hurt themselves. I didn't read anything about them being liabilities in any way.
As for the affletes - overweight, soft pudgy Reggie Ragland is getting hype as a 1st rounder - can anyone think of one alabama prospect that has actually come out and played well at the NFL level, especially on defense. I believe Amari Cooper is the only one. Most of the Alabama defensive players have been average at best.
Shawn Oakman was a huge disappointment, the guy flat out sucks. Is a workout warrior type, like I said in my previous post which has disappeared - he is vernon gholston 2.o
Also it should be interested to see how the long armed sumos fare once they are in the NFL. The arm length thing is one of the most comical measureables because every year so many of these players with long arms end up busting even though they have such a supposedly desirable trait that ensures success in the NFL.
