Good to see you back posting! Not enough attention is being given to the MLB season here. I have honestly been distracted this season so I have not been as active in the MLB sub forum myself.

The Fat Papi Ortiz farewell tour made it's stop through Detroit this weekend. It was a ridiculous slobber fest for another teams player. For some reason the two Venezuelans, Cabrera and Martinez, appeared on the field with the Dominican tub of lard for some unseemly fraternizing during his pre-game ceremony.

I will give some credit to the local sports talk radio. They were not happy about all the positive support from the Tigers. Ortiz has beaten the Tigers like a mudshark girlfriend over the years. His playoff grand slam a couple of years ago was one of the lowlights in the recent history of the organization. The point was made, why is this guy getting so much love, a free pass into the Hall of Fame, with his history of steroid abuse? Clemems and McGuire are pariahs in the game and this guy is america's hero?

Trout continues to dominate at such an unbelievably young age! He just turned 25 and he's already racked up some incredible stats. He's well on his way to his 5th straight season of 100+ runs.

Trout started putting up huge numbers in all categories at such a young age - he may very well end up as the best MLB player since Babe Ruth by the time he ends his career..... most kids are just getting their first call up at age 25 and Trout has 4 (maybe 5 with this year) straight first or 2nd place MVP seasons under his belt already.

Right KS5000. Trout just hit HR number 26 tonight and is closing in on some milestone numbers in his age 24 season which includes:

Hits: He has 891 and will get number 1,000 at age 25.
Runs: He has 580. Could get his 600th this year.
RBI: Despite batting lead off earlier in his career and 2nd many times, he's closing in on his 500th RBI, with 484 currently.

He can possibly achieve, 900 hits, 600 runs and 500 RBI in his age 24 season!

Another amazing stat is his OPS+ in which he is leading the league at 175 and has 170 average for his career. Incredible!

I cannot stand McCutchen. I am not sure if he even had better numbers than his competition to win NL MVP years ago.

That was in 2013 PHillisFan and no McCutchen numbers were not that good and he didn't lead the league in not one stat. Arizona's Paul Goldschmidt was robbed of the NL MVP that year! Goldschmidt led the league in HR's, RBI's, SLG., OPS, OPS+, and total bases! Goldschmidt even scored more runs, 103 to 97.

I'm not taking up for McCutchen, but it's hard to blame him. He's not responsible for the voting. It's our own race of sports writers that betrays the truth in these cases. How they could have robbed Goldschmidt that year, I'll never know. They will have to deal with their own conscience. If they have one?

BTW, McCutchen has been rewarded for the undeserving MVP. He's set to make $14 million per over the next 2 years. Crazy!

I know most everyone here is watching college football and I caught the Stanford game and McCaffrey last night, but there's a great pitching duel going on in Chicago, if anyone cares. Madison Bumgarner and Jake Arrieta. Right now it's 2-1 San Francisco. Bumgarner with 3 WS rings is going for career win number 99 at only 26 years old! Most here will probably pull for Chicago, Bumgarner grew up in back yard and the Giants are white friendly. I believe they start 6 or 7 white players. Depends on who's pitching.

Wow! Bumgarner and the Giants beat Arrieta and the Cubs, 3-2. Bumgarner's 99th career win is a big one at only 26 years old. He should get at least 3-4 more starts by the end of the year and get number 100 or more this season.

Meant to do this last evening, but I'll post it now. Pretty good night last night in the MLB.

Brian Dozier, MN. 2B had 3 HR's and hes' hit another tonight, giving him 39 HR's on the year. May be the first Twin to hit 3 HR's in one game since Harmon Killebrew!
Davis, BLT. 34 HR. Davis hit his 35th tonight.
Braun, MN. 25 HR
Hosmer, KC. 21 HR
Trout, ANA. 3-4, 2R. Now leads the league in Runs, OB%, OPS+, and WAR. No one's really close to him right now in WAR!
Turner, WA. 3-4, HR 6
Jankowski, SD. 30th SB and 2-3
Scherzer, WA. 16th win
Hendricks, CHI. 14th win and leads MLB in ERA.

Tuesday night Rizzo was 2-4 with HR's number 27 and 28. Wednesday night Rizzo 2-4 again with HR number 29. He's seems to be having a good September. Bryant will be the NL MVP!

However, with Donaldson,(TOR), slumping just a little, and Trout who should be the AL MVP on a terrible team, the MVP will go to Altuve or Betts, but Altuve hasn't been great this month so far. The writers should do the right thing and vote for Trout who's been consistent all year long and clearly the best player in the MLB!

Trout's BA is now 5th in the league. You are right, on a better team he might have more RBI's and overall better stats.

Trout has also batted 1st, 2nd and 3rd for most of his career, which hurts RBI total somewhat. Pujols,(110) is the guy benefiting from Mike Trout with RBI's. Trout leads MLB with a sick On Base Percentage of .442, giving Pujols plenty of RBI opportunities. Trout doesn't have anyone in front of him getting on base almost half the time. Maybe if Pujols ever retires, Trout will get a chance to bat 4th or get traded to a better team. Can you imagine him with the Cubs? I can!

Hunter Renfroe for Padres who had been called up recently has been impressive. A shame they waited so long to call him up.
