TE Coby Fleener and WR Griff Whalen are both gone from last year’s team. The 2016 Colts boast Andrew Luck, the young quarterback whose march to greatness was stymied last year by the team’s porous offensive line leading him to suffer multiple injuries, and precious little else to follow in the way of White players.

Still just 26 years old, Luck threw for over 4,300 yards as a rookie in 2012, and by 2014 had improved to 4,761 passing yards and 40 TD passes. Also an excellent runner at 235 pounds, he rushes for an average of about 300 yards per season with several touchdowns.

This year’s line features three White starters who will try to keep Luck healthy. Left tackle Anthony Castonzo was Indy’s first round draft pick out of Boston College in 2011 and is a good one. Center Ryan Kelly from Alabama was the team’s first round draft pick in 2016. 31-year-old 6’7” Joe Reitz holds down the right guard job.

Two other rookie linemen made the team as backups – LG Joe Haeg and C Austin Blythe.

Sixth year veteran Scott Tolzien from Wisconsin is Luck’s backup.

Fourth year backup Jack Doyle is the only White TE on the roster.

End Henry Anderson comprises the Colts’ entire White defensive contingent. Drafted out of Stanford in 2015, Anderson was vying for Defensive Rookie of the Year honors before suffering a season ending torn ACL knee injury. He is slowly being eased back into playing time and should regain his starting position as soon as he’s ready.

Guard Adam Redmond from Harvard and tackle Jeremy Vujnovich from Louisiana College made the practice squad.

Starters:
QB Andrew Luck
LT Anthony Castonzo
C Ryan Kelly
RG Joe Reitz
(DE Henry Anderson will start when fully rehabilitated from his knee injury)

Total number of White players on 53 man roster: 13

Grade: F+

Also, Jack Mewhort is a starter on O-line. Doyle's situation bears watching, as he might emerge as a defacto second TE starter, if the Colts use two TE sets a lot.

Really impressed with his play last week! Western Kentucky despite being a dark team has produced 2 athletic TEs the past couple years, Doyle and Higbee. Doyle has a chance to shine as long as his hands hold up and Luck has confidence in him. As we all know Allen is overrated.

DL Kristjan Sokoli has been called up from the PS. He played DT in college at Buffalo and was one of Seattle's white dlinemen to oline converts. Looks like he got cut and went back to defense for the Colts!
