It's been funny to read so many of the comments on the Big Ten websites after Iowa's loss to perennial FCS champ North Dakota State. Some go so far as to call the NDS run of success "way more impressive" than what Saban does at Alabama, the rationale for that being 1. the Bison are on their third coach of this dynasty, and 2. who wants to go play in Fargo, North Dakota, an uncool place?
Another goober figured out that the state of Minnesota has a 5.5 million population but only one D1 football program, so North Dakota State has a recruiting advantage of being in relative proximity to all those people. So far, no one has posited that "they recruit the white kids who measure well and win state championships that D1 schools pass over." This concept is probably way too abstract to grasp, almost supernatural even.
Kinda sucks that Iowa takes the hit in credibility, as they are always a white-friendly team. Coach Kirk Ferentz still has fresh ink on his new ten-year renewal though, so at least the Hawkeyes are not at risk of a roster overhaul.
