2015 Utah Utes

Since '05, Utah has started 11, 11, 11, 8, 8, 11, 11, 11, 6, and now 5 whites. I had to look twice to make sure I didn't miss anybody, but that seems to be correct for the time being. The Utes return the same paltry pair of whites to their offense. Senior quarterback Travis Wilson is regarded as a game manager type with respectable accuracy. Junior J.J. Dielman won the right tackle job last season and will shift to the blind side this year. Junior Nick Nowakowski might yet win a job on the line somewhere.

On defense, Hunter Dimick should hope to build on his 10 sack campaign last year. He will attract more double-teams this time around. Whittingham and Norris are a pair of run-stuffing linebackers, both seniors, who will be expected to anchor this stout defense. Sophomore safety Evan Eggiman and freshman Austin Lee are the only white defensive backs on the roster, and neither looks projected to play much.

Punter Tom Hackett and kicker Andy Phillips both return from first team all Pac-12 seasons and could each find themselves playing on Sundays.

Coach Kyle Whittingham has been in place for over a decade now and seems to be leveraging his new power-conference status into "higher-ranking" (darker) recruits, as well as Samoan linemen and tight ends. This is a run-first, ball control team with a competent defense. Utah will enter the preseason ranked somewhere between #14-24, but there is really no reason for CFers to root for this team at all.

Not that it matters regarding any of our guys' playing time but yesterday Utah CB Dominique Hatfield was arrested and "suspended indefinitely":

According to charging documents, Hatfield robbed a man of $180 at knifepoint last Tuesday afternoon outside a car wash at 625 W. 3900 South. The victim had responded to an ad on KSL.com, believing he had arranged to buy an Xbox gaming console from a man named David Wilkins, according to court documents.

After the victim was robbed, his wife texted "David Wilkins" at the same number and claimed she was interested in purchasing two iPhones the man said he was also selling, the charges state. The couple also contacted Unified police, who observed as Hatfield walked to the woman's truck at the same car wash where her husband was robbed the day before.

Hatfield denied being involved in the armed robbery but told officers that he was going to sell the iPhones for $380, according to the charges. When asked where he obtained the phones, Hatfield said "he went to parties where sometimes drunk people would leave their phones, so he took the phones and sold them," the charges stated.

Well, Utah must certainly be a hotbed of black athletes, considering there are soooo many blacks in the state. I can only imagine what importing these blacks (not to mention their homies who tag along with them) into formerly white college towns does to the crime rate. Isn't this Whitingham the same black coach who screwed it up at Notre Dame some years ago?
