Thomas Sperbeck had a quite a night for Boise State.

in an upset loss to New Mexico, Sperbeck did all he could to keep his team in it. he finished the game with school records for both receptions (20) and yards (281) in a game. and considering talented freshman quarterback Brett Rypien just barely missed him on 3 or 4 additional loooooong bombs, Sperbeck continues to prove that he is simply uncoverable against man coverage.

Sperbeck's HUGE numbers are each single-game highs by an FBS player this season.

as an aside, Sperbeck is the ONLY wide receiver on the team who didn't drop multiple balls in the game. he's also the only receiver to have more than 50 yards in the game.

one wonders why, after the excellence (Tyler Shoemaker, Matt Miller, Sperbeck) and solid play (Kirby Moore, Mitch Burroughs, Vinny Perretta) by White receivers for Boise State in recent years, the Broncos haven't been prioritizing similar athletes as potential replacements in their recruiting classes.

It's very simple. Where are they going to find these overachieving players? College recruiting is lazy work. Virtually every school simply relies on the services for player rankings. Here is ESPN's top 100 receivers for 2016.

There might be two or three crackas on the entire list, and they're not even in the top 75. What? You expect coaches to actually look for the talent themselves, looking at high school stats and scouting players themselves? Hah!

as was mentioned in another thread, the 10 Biletnikoff Award semi-finalists were named on November 17, and nary a "deceptive" wideout made the cut ... despite having 3 of the top-10 wide receivers (based on production) in the nation (Thomas Sperbeck, Daniel Braverman, and Trent Taylor). "weird," huh?

once again, the media reveals that no matter what qualities a White player has it's not the "right" one.

Thomas Sperbeck is a model of consistency, despite being an afterthought in the minds of the so-called media "experts." he once again led Boise State in every receiving category, finishing with 7 catches for 79 yards, including this 34-yard touchdown catch-and-run.

in the same game, Air Force tight end Garrett Griffith finished with a game-high 107 yards and 1 touchdown on just 3 catches.

record-shattering wideout Cooper Kupp has decided to return for his senior season of college football. here's an article detailing why he made the decision.

Kupp, who i feel is the best wide receiver in all of college football, has already put together one of the most eye-popping careers in the history of collegiate football. and he's done it in just 3 seasons.

Kupp by the numbers through 3 seasons (the short version):

- second in FCS history in touchdown catches (56, two behind the record)
- second in FCS history in receiving yardage (4,764 yards, only 486 behind the record)
- fourth in FCS history in receptions (311; 84 off the record)
- third in FCS history in receptions-per-game (7.97)

in addition to all his accolades for his on-field performance, he recently was recognized as a first-team Academic All-American this year. he was a second-team Academic All-American last season.

DraftDaddy posted a link to a wideout i've never seen play, Eric Blinn. Blinn, not surprisingly, is a record-shattering performer despite wearing a hard hat and a blue collar and carrying a lunchpail.
