Kyle Schwarber is tearing it up for the suddenly white Cubs. Anybody know if he is part black? I know his gf is black and his sister dates a black guy.

German ancestry. I would believe that his two walk up themes are rap songs. Smh

Bad news is afleet Cruz leads the league in HRs
Good news is Chris Davis of Baltimore is starting to catch fire and might over take him soon.
Trout still stuck at 33. Hope he pulls out of the slump soon.

Arietta of Chicago leads all ML Pitchers with 15 wins. Definitely a Cy young contender. Hands down been the best pitcher for the Cubs and one of the big reasons they are in the wild card hunt.

Bumgarner with his 5th jack of the year tonight. What a beast!

On days when Madison pitches, the Giants compare to an AL team as there are no easy outs in their lineup.

Yes PhillisFan, there's no doubt Arietta is a major contender for a Cy Young as is Bumgarner who also got his 15th win tonight and as Freethinker reported his 5th HR and is batting .254!

Yes it could come down to Mad Bum and Arietta. Incidentally the top pitchers for their respective teams that are fighting for the one wild card left.

Both Arietta and Bumgarner won again this week. They are leading the league with 16 wins. Arietta has a better ERA, Bumgarner has more K's. Bumgarner also leads the league in complete games.(3)

I don't know how much emphasis will be put on their offensive numbers, but Bumgarner dominates there. He's batting .262 with 5 HR's, while Arietta is batting .143 with 1 HR.

It looks as though they are separating themselves for the Cy Young award. I would like to see Bumgarner win. It's the one thing other than more wins that stands in his way of becoming one of the greatest pitchers of all time, barring an injury.

Bumgarner is ahead of greats such as, Roger Clemens, Randy Johnson, and Tom Glavine's pace for 300 wins.

Arrieta w/ a no hitter! He was simply incredible. The guy has become an elite pitcher since joining the Cubs. Epstein struck gold trading for him from Baltimore.

Epstein is a smart man. He's turned around the Cubs in no time. One thing I've noticed is he stockpiles elite white talent which I see as a direct correlation to Cubs New found success.

Although this has nothing to do with baseball per se, I found it interesting nonetheless. The three reigning beauty queens were on hand for a Yankees game over the weekend, and I found it interesting that they are all white girls. Not a black, latina, ruby-noggin, or muhammaden in the bunch:

Yes, overnight Arrieta has become one of the best starters in MLB. The no hitter may have separated him a bit from Bumgarner/Zack Greinke for the Cy Young should he continue to win.

It will be tough for Bumgarner to keep the wins pace (17), with Arrieta as tonight he goes against the MLB leader in ERA, the Dodgers Greinke. Greinke also is 14-3 and should he beat Bumgarner and the Giants, he will be very much in the conversation for the Cy Young.

It will be a great match up and I would be watching if it weren't on the west coast.

If im not mistaken Arrieta also has a better whip and era compared to MadBum. They are each dominant pitchers in their own right. It looks like he wasnt able to get a win last night vs the Dodgers.

In LA, Greinke and the Dodgers eek out a win over Bumgarner and the Giants, 2-1. Bumgarner gave up 2 runs while striking out 8 and walking only 1. Bumgarner 16-7 on the year, failed to get career victory number 84, but got to 200 K's and walking just his 31st batter, on the year. And incredible 6.45/1 ratio!

Greinke 15-3, gave up only 1 run and leads MLB in ERA. at 1.59.

Looks like a 3-4-5 way battle for the NL Cy Young now, among Arrieta, Greinke, Bumgarner, and Cole and you could throw St. Louis's Michael Wacha in their as well.

Jake Arrieta goes for win number 19 and 8th in row tonight against the Phillies. He hasn't given up an earned run in his last 4 starts!

He shouldn't have too many problems against the last place Phillies, however, Philadelphia was the site of his last loss on July 25th.

That's right. He would be leading the bigs in Wins with a win by a couple, but you can't take any team lightly in sports especially a last place team. Hopefully everything goes his way today.

Yankees Mark Teixeira out for the season with a fractured leg. Teixeira, who hasn't played since August 26th, hit 31 HR's and 79 RBI's and was on his way to career HR number 400 before his injury. He has 394 career HR's.

Despite starting the season slow, Clayton Kershaw picked up his 14th win last night and the 112th of his career at 27 years old. He and Bumgarner are likely candidates for what some say will never happen again, a 300 game winner.

Kershaw is leading the league in K's, 264, innings pitched at 208, and tied for the lead in shutouts with 2.

Bryce Harper hit his 37th HR last night and is second in the NL. He leads the league in AVG. .333, Runs 106, OB% .464, SLG% .652, and OBP 1.115!

I love the baseball updates. Thanks for your hard work. Bryce Harper has been nothing short of incredible this year. I love this story so much. He has had alot of pressure to live up to. That would kill most guys but he has lived up to the hype if not went above and beyond it. The guy along with Mike Trout is one of the 2 best baseball players on earth. They are a joy to watch.

You're welcome wl. I wish I could do more.

Here's an update for you. Harper now leads both leagues in 5 categories. BA. .338, runs 110,
SLG% .667, OB% .467, and OPS. 1.134!

No one else leads in more than 2 categories. Harper is clearly MLB's MVP, with Josh Donaldson 2nd, and Mike Trout 3rd at this point.

It also worth noting Harper has missed 8 games or he possibly would be leading in HR's also!

I've heard sports writer say Harper was overrated. This disproves it. Isn't he only 22 also?

Arrieta went for win 20, but did not get the decision in the Cubs win. Those dastardly charcoal Pirates managed to get lucky in the end.

I think last year Harper was voted the most overrated player in MLB. Yes he's only 22 and right now he's playing like the best player in MLB.

.....and maybe Trout is finally out of a month long drought, he just hit a Grand Slam. His 37th HR of the season and his 3rd in the last week I believe.
