But it has been at this summer’s World Cup where the midfielder has glided from precocious talent to global star. Back in Colombia few are surprised.Consecutive man-of-the-match performances against Greece and Ivory Coast helped Colombia brush aside the lassitude that swamped the country’s World Cup preparations after injury to their talismanic striker Falcao.
Balanced, intelligent and technically gifted, RodrÃguez has been the drive and vision behind Colombia. And it’s not just as a creative force where RodrÃguez has been one of the tournament’s standout players. With three goals he is already Colombia’s all-time top goalscorer at a World Cup finals.
Credit must also go to the sagacious Pékerman whose faith in the young star has allowed RodrÃguez to truly blossom. One of the first decisions the Argentinian coach made upon taking the Colombia job in 2012 was to hand RodrÃguez the No10 shirt; Carlos “El Pibe†Valderrama’s No10 shirt. It was a huge gamble for a player still only 20.
colombia's best player james rodriguez:

i can't wait to see brazil - chile
chile is superior to brazil in every area except freekicks and corner kicks :icon_eek:
Yes,he has scored in every game in the WC,so far:
From a caste perspective, Chile isn't that much better than Brazil, but I'll be rooting for them because the constant Brazilian hype gets on my nerves. I really liked that "Myth of Pele" article.
According to Wikipedia Columbia is only 10% black.
we didn't address the neymar hype yet either but it's already out of control after scoring against extremely weak teams or from a gifted penalty
if colombia wins against uruguay it will be the first time they go in quarter finals i think
and they have won only 1 copa america, when they hosted it
not very impressive for a big south american country, especially compared with the tiny country that uruguay is
The reason for their regular under-performance can be attributed to the number of blacks they have .
I strongly disagree. Chile is almost all white and mestizo where Brazil is a jumble (though less black than usual). I also see Chile winning though the refs may well help out Brazil again (as usual). As for Uruguay I see them as a possible win - would have been closer with Suarez. Maybe we will see more of Forlan? From a caste perspective, Chile isn't that much better than Brazil, but I'll be rooting for them because the constant Brazilian hype gets on my nerves. forlan's current level is a mystery because he hasn't played in a real league in the past years
he is in pre-retirement
Does anyone know why so many seats are empty at the matches in this World Cup? I've watched many of the matches in this year's Cup and in many matches you can easily notice entire sections of empty seats. Totally vacant. In the Switzerland-Ecuador match for example it seemed the stadium was at a generous 66% capacity. In many other group matches we've seen empty seats. Was this Cup poorly marketed? Or fans have no interest in traveling to Brazil?
One of his strengths is his ability to score from long distances during both open play and free kicks. Surely age does not affect that ability, no? They should at least put him on in the second half when the defenders aren't as fresh.
Of course. Why, everybody knows only they can play "the beautiful game," right? Why was that not a yellow card for Fernandinho? Oh right, it's Brazil.
I was just thinking these Chileans haven't produced a single scoring opportunity. Then a black defender came to the rescue. Marcelo passed it straight to Alexis Sanchez in the box.:biggrin1:
Edit: I'm wrong. It was the not so incredible Hulk. lol
