So much for being far and away the best rookie quarterback in 2013. From Weenieworld:

ESPN's Adam Caplan believes Mike Glennon is "going to be as good as gone" in Tampa. "It's obvious to me and people around the league that (the Bucs) are going to try to move him," Caplan said. New coach Lovie Smith has brought in Josh McCown to be his starter and the Bucs have repeatedly been connected to Texas A&M QB Johnny Manziel ahead of next week's draft. As a third-round rookie last season, Glennon flashed some long-term appeal as he compiled 19 touchdowns, nine interceptions and an 83.9 passer rating. The Bucs would be losing value by dumping him for anything less than a third-round pick.
 
Mike Glennon had a good rookie season. Trading him would be a mistake. Why not give him more chances to see how he progresses?

It will be interesting to see if Tampa drafts Teddy Bridgewater or Tajh Boyd or Logan Thomas.
 
The Bucs are in an interesting position. Glennon looks like he has a good future in the league, but they had the chance to sign McCown, who was simply outstanding in his chances with the Bears last season. If McCown continues to play like that, great, but he will be 35 when the season starts. He might have a couple of good years left, but the end is in sight. They can get what they can out of McCown, and continue to bring Glennon along. If they draft a black quarterback, they are hopeless.
 
If Glennon was black their is no way they would be talking about getting rid of him. The way he has been treated when compared to Manuel and Smiff illustrates the double standard that is now being put in place at the quarterback position. I feel bad for Glennon, he was put into a terrible situation last year and was able to overcome the obstacles and have a very good rookie season.

There is no doubt that the Bills and Jets need McCown more than the Bucs. I don't know if this qualifies as "stacking", but the outcome is the same. Glennon and McCown are both starter-quality QBs, at opposite ends of the career spectrum. I wouldn't think twice about the situation if it weren't for the most recent black quarterback push.

Yes, especially for Smith who looked mind boggling bad until the Jets basically used a college playbook and used his legs instead of his arm. While I don't think Glennon is truly an elite prospect like Luck was he is at least as good as Manuel and already demonstrated he is a full level better than Smith.
 
it's ridiculous what's happening to Glennon. Playing 13 games on a dysfunctional team he had 19 td and 9 int, projected over 16 games that's 24 td and 11 int. That's pretty damn good for a rookie. And he was by far and away the best rookie qb. Even with all that he got benched, put on the trading block, and he didn't even place in the top 5 for rookie of the year voting. Not even top 5 ?

I wonder how different things would be if his name were Le'Myke. The media would have been creaming themselves over him all last season and he would have won rookie of the year in a landslide. And at the end of last season he would have already been promised the starting job uncontested for the next 2-3 years. There's no way McCown would have been brought in, and no talk of the Bucs drafting a QB because they'd already have found their franchise QB of the future in Le'Myke Glennon

Absolutely true.

After Glennon's excellent rookie season the media would be hailing him as the next big thing at quarterback if he were black.

Instead, what you get is plans to replace him. It's simple. They want Glennon replaced because he's a white, drop back passer. He doesn't fit the new model they're pushing, a black running quarterback.
 
O well about Glennon hes young. McCowns been screwed his whole career I hope he has a good couple years to end it ala Kurt Warner,Gannon, and Favre couple other QBS who were playing very good ball all the way into mid 30's.
 
I can see Glennon getting traded on draft day to the Texans if they pass on Manziel and Bortles.

If I were a QB needy team I'd be trying to trade for Glennon rather than draft a player who it's unknown whether or not can play in the NFL. It makes more sense to trade for a player who, not only has proven he can play in the NFL, but has a strong arm. That's Mike Glennon.

With the exception of Manziel, who I think will be the next Tarkenton/Flutie, I agree. Glennon virtually had no running game as a rookie and did an excellent job. Gap toothed wigger Shiano did him no favors by not starting Brian Leonard.
 
2014 Position Battles/outlook

TE - Brandon Myers vs. Austin Seferian Jenkins ... Myers is an all around solid TE, whether he wins the starting job or gets the backup spot, should still be heavily involved in the offense My guess though is that Jenkins will probably be handed the starting job, whether he deserves it or not. Jenkins is one of those guys that the media seems to drool over. Myers has 1300 yards and 8 TDs over the last two seasons, and Jenkins has upside, so I guess we'll see.

OLB - Dane Fletcher vs. Jonathan Casillas ... Fletcher should easily win this battle over the undersized Casillas, but Fletcher is listed as a MLB, behind Mason Foster who finally proved his worth as a starter last season with 96 tack, 2 sacks, and 3 ints. In other words, if they don't allow him to compete outside, Fletch will be on the bench again.

Looking at the projected starting lineup, the Bucs should look for some help along the o-line; aside from Dietrich-Smith and Nicks, I don't see much talent. It will be interesting to see what McCown can do as the starter, but other than that, the only way I'll follow this team is if Fletcher starts at LB.
 
There are always a few UNDER-THE-RADAR players that slip thru the cracks...6'-4" 215 Free Safety Mycal Swaim from Eastern Michigan; an undrafted rookie(signed in May) impressed at his Pro Day...running a 4.49; Vertical Jump of 39' inches & 6.97 in the 3-Cone Drill.

Sure he has an uphill battle...Hopefully Swaim can make some noise in Training Camp!

The Bucs have to be one of the least white teams going into training camp.

The Buccaneers are projecting to have only two white starters, Josh McCown or Mike Glennon at QB and Evans Dietrich-Smith at center. Only 2 out of 22 starters!

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are a racist organization. White people should boycott the Buccaneers!
 
This is absolutely ridiculous; sadly, it seems as if the NFL is getting blacker and blacker. Between Tampa Bay, Seattle, San Francisco, Pittsburgh, Carolina, Oakland, Miami, etc. will there be more than 5-6 teams with over 6 whites starting?

According to Ourlads, as of now there are 8 teams with at least 7 whites starting:

- New England: 11
- Green Bay: 10
- Houston: 10
- Philadelphia: 8
- Minnesota: 8
- Cleveland: 8
- Jacksonville: 7
- San Diego: 7

EDIT: Also Dallas, Atlanta, and the Giants start 6. Though 6 is really nothing to get excited about.
