Since 2005, Notre Dame has had 10, 11, 11, 11, 10, 10, 11, 11, and 9 white starters. They fall once down once again, this time to 8. Brian Kelly has fallen in love with black QBs and all three scholarship QBs on the depth chart are black, a shocking revelation for a historically white school and football team. Furthermore, Kelly has a polynesian freshman TE that he is reportedly in love with. Expect Notre Dame to fall to 7-8 starters for the next two years with the majority of white starters being on the o-line, although a good portion of the younger lineman are black. On the positive side, Koyack, Hegarty, Martin, and Lombard should all have NFL futures. RB senior Cam McDaniel was a standout last season but appears to be third on the RB committee behind two sophomores. Expect him to once again outplay these two men and earn some carries this year.
The defensive end of the ball features a true freshman starter in Andrew Trumbetti and a senior LB in former walk on Joe Schmidt. Austin Collinsworth returns at the safety position. Notre Dame has some solid white defensive depth which will make be the only thing watchable about this team in the near future.
