I couldn't agree with you more greyghost. He also very casually ran a nice time of 6.64! Just imagine if this kid has some sponsors and could actually pursue his dream. I would love to see someone like Shane move to Ireland, Scottland, or somewhere in Europe. He might have to sit out a year but he could still train and get acclimated to the new country/culture. I'm sure they would except him with open arms and he would be able to continue to follow his dream of being a professional sprinter. If it were me I would go rather than to stay here where no one is going to endorse you. If not Europe then Canada would be another option with him staying closer to family. I think Europe is a better hot bed for athletics though so that's where I would go. Good luck to Shane and I hope he keeps running.

Some news from the 1st day of NCAA Indoor Championships:
Andrea Geubelle of Kansas won the Long Jump.
Katie Grimes of Texas Tech qualified for the women's 60m hurdles final.
Jonathan Cabral of Oregon (So) qualified for the men's 60m hurdles final.
Patrick Feeney and Christopher Giesting both of Notre Dame qualified for the men's 400m final, along with Anton Kokorin of Arkansas.
Georganne Moline of Arizona qualified for the women's 400m final
Laura Roesler of Oregon (and others) qualified for the women's 800m final.
Elijah Greer or Oregon and Cas Loxsom of Penn St. qualified for the men's 800m final.
Marek Niit of Arkansas qualified for the men's 200m final.

Jack, you seem to have left the best results for me to deliver:
1) Blonde bombshell Emma Coburn won the mile.
2) The Dartmouth Dart Abby D'agostino completed the nearly impossible 3k/5k double, winning one on Friday night and the other on Saturday night, defeating runners from Kenya, among others. Blonde pixie Jordan Hasay was second in last night's 3k. Southern belle Callie McCumber was third. The highest Kenyan was fourth.
3) Neil Braddy and Marek Niit helped break the collegiate record in the 4 by 400. The time would have been even faster but Anton Korokin had earlier run in the 400 and so a slower runner took his place. Imagine the time if Korokin were in and Braddy and Niit were in better shape (both have been slacking this season).
4) Speaking of 4 by 400's, Nebraska won its heat in the finals using four white runners. All of them young, too, (three freshmen and one sophomore) so watch out for them next year.
5) All of this 400 talk reminds me that Brady Gehret remains a man without a school. Sigh. But back to the good news:
6) Laura Roesler came back from her 800 to run a leg on the winning 4 by 400. I can't tell if she's faster than she is gorgeous or more gorgeous than she is fast. Incidentally, I believe she could have taken the 800 if she'd started her blistering kick a little earlier.

An athlete to make note of from NCAA DIII:
Men's Field Athlete of the Year: Isaac Vazquez, UW-La Crosse
"Vazquez, a senior from Arcadia, Wis., contributed heavily to UW-La Crosse earning its 16th NCAA DIII Indoor Championships team title, winning the triple jump and finishing runner-up in the long jump to score 18 of the Eagles’ 74 points. He won the triple jump with a mark of 51-03½ (15.63m) to win the event by nearly a foot and cement a position in the DIII indoor record books as the fourth-best performer in division history. He finished runner-up in the long jump at 24-01½ (7.35m), but he finished the season with 2013′s best mark in the division and the seventh-best in division history at 24-11 (7.59m) at the WIAC Championships. He won WIAC titles in both events."
Again, another guy showing that we have great long jumpers and triple jumpers.

Jeremy Wariner running Outdoors this weekend - 21.30 in the 200m with 1.0 wind. So sad to see how much he has fallen off from his great self.... I really wish he could somehow make it back to his old form that made him the top 400m runner in the world....

I would not count out Wariner just yet. He did just recently win the 400 at the US indoor championships albeit against a lackluster field.
wariner should not be written off..injury and bad coaching choices cost him . but i am convinced if he stays injury free he will make moscow in august..he has already run 20.9 indoors in febuary in prep for the usatfs. early outdoor deuces dont mean alot after an indoor season where he posted the 2nd best time of the yr while not really being challenged. i guarantee you if he stays injury free he has the ability to go very low 44s again and will challenge for medals in moscow..first aim is to make the team 1st 2nd or 3rd regardless.remember wariners aim has been to strengthen his last 100 again ie, between 300 and 401meters
