Watching college football yesterday with a friend who is a bit of a Bama DWF. We were flipping between Georgia-Kentucky, Tennessee-Vandy, Baylor-Oklahoma State, and probably something else.
Him: "Geez, Georgia looks like a Big 10 team on offense. How many white guys are out there?"
Me: "There's 8 at the moment, but it can go as high as 9, depending on formation. I call it the Patriots offense."
Him: "Hahaha, how do you (I'm a Georgia alum) get guys like that McGowan and Douglas?"
Me: "Well, McGowan is a walkon, and Douglas only had offers from UGA and Georgia Tech."
Him: "Wow, that's crazy. Damn, he just made another catch! That guy is a walkon?"
Me: "Yeah, he was. So is the fullback."
It's kind of interesting to talk with him. He was surprised to hear that McGowan was a walk on who had NO offers at all. He also really likes Douglas, the UGA running back, who could start for scores of teams. This guy tends to think that such players are anomalies, when the fact is that they are just examples of rare players that got a chance. I didn't bother getting into the Caste System with him, as it's pointless. He's one of those guys who thinks blacks are stupid, but superior athletes. I just point out the great white players.
