Azpilicueta puts in a great, accurate pass, for a tidy finish by Torres:

Some mutt got a deflection^^.

The first Atletico goal:

Ashley Cole^^ inexplicably allows the ball to go underneath his feet.

Eto'o was then brought on to try and get a goal, and he did this:

Hell yeah!

champions league acquired :azn:

casillas was horrible as expected, atletico deserved to win with a goal on a corner (what a surprise) given away in a very silly way by varane (another surprise!) the french black defender who only played because pepe was injuried

benzema had zero impact on the game
he missed everything, had zero shots, was nowhere to to seen on the crosses put in by real madrid, and laughed after missing oportunities
khedira was the second worst player of the match, he missed everything too

bale scored the winner in the spanish cup and now in the champions league
great season even though he was forced to play very defensively and wide
he scored more goals in this champions league campain than benzema, the striker

I remember the announcers here in the United States saying something to the effect of: You can really hear the Real Madrid fans getting upset with Khedira, he has not done anything today! :D I think Khedira was only playing because Xabi Alonso was suspended from the game. Hopefully that loser doesn't start for Germany in a couple weeks.

A great win for Real Madrid today!

yes but he could have started illaramendi instead
illaramendi played some games this season unlike the arab clown
illaramendi was expected to start in xabi alonso's absence
incredible to see that real madrid is able to win with so many players clearly underperforming
bale+ronaldo, no team have 2 players on this level
dimaria and modric are also excellent

ronaldo beat the record for most goals scored in a champions league campain, 17 goals

That's very true about Illaramendi; I forgot that he could've started to; Real certainly would have gotten more production out of him than Khedira, who was worthless for the 58 minutes he was in the game.

I agree, Modric played very well today, and delivered a great ball in to Ramos to tie the game up in stoppage time.

Yes,notice the blackhole caused by the lack of activity near the penalty box in the image below:

Poor passing:

And his pathetic aerial duels:

The one in the box was the goal.

Yes,the delivery from the corner was excellent.....and by God,did Ramos bury it or what?

Atletico though should've had have men on the posts.

Yes,Bale deserves the plaudits, but so does Angel Di Maria for his excellent run that created the chance in the first place:

Bale was actually poor until then. Ronaldo also had a bad match possibly due to his lingering injury. I thought the Diego Costa thing was ridiculous. You don't get over a hamstring in one week. Throwing away a substitution so early was foolish.

Both Bale and Ronaldo were some of the worst performers for Real during the regular play time, missing some clear opportunities and being repeatedly frustrated by Atletico's defence. De Maria and Modric were the best on the field for RM.
Atletico's defence performed excellently and were great to watch until the faithful goal at the 93. minute, then they fell apart. Too bad for the Atleti.
It was refreshing to see two overwhelmigly White (with a couple of exceptions) and heavily Spanish or at least Iberian teams... Why the Spaniards can field this type of teams, while the English / French cannot? It must come from the fans... it looks to me that the Spanish fan base would not accept to watch the heavily Africanized (with 4, 5, 6 or more Africans) you see in EPL... or maybe also from the style of play, with the English "physical" style of play more suitable for large but talentless Africans...

i agree about ronaldo but bale was just unlucky
as far as i remember he was the only one to bring danger in atletico's defence
also, i'll be forever thankfull for the 2 occasions on which he could have given the ball to benzema for an easy tap in but chose to be selfish instead

also remember that he plays out of position, not at all like he used to play in england
he has a lot less shots per game than in england
he plays very wide and has to defend much more
maybe that's why he is less efficient when he can shoot

Did Gus Johnson do the play-by-play again for American TV? That guy is without doubt the worst commentator I've ever heard.

Yep. It was Gus. He's just started commentating on football matches since FOX got the Champions League Matches (he usually does the NCAA Tournament and NFL), so he is a bit better than when he started, but he's still pretty bad, and doesn't seem to know the game very well (a lot of awkward silence at times and he even pronounces some of the player's names wrong at times yet).

ThePhilosopher, I agree on Ramos' header; that was pretty impressive! I forgot to give him proper credit; there was no chance Courtois was getting to that.

What?
They looked like Bergkamp and Pires in their prime!

Well, compared to the utterly useless Benzema anyway.

Yeah - that's why it took Real until the 93. minute to equalize, on a corner (not action), by a defender!

Benzema was useles as usual and that was expected, but Bale and Ronaldo definitely didn't offer a very convincing performance, and I'm being kind here. I'm talking about regular match time. In extra times - completely different story for Real.

more protagonism was expected from ronaldo, but nobody will mention it because he scored a record 17 goals in the campain and won the 10th champions league with real madrid
without that ramos goal, things would have been very different

but people who have watched bale play this year knew that he would play very wide end defensively
every goal scoring oportunity that he had in that game he created it for himself
he was just unlucky
otherwise he would have scored another decisive goal for real madrid after the one in the spanish cup final, 2 decisive goals in 2 finals after long solo runs, that would have been unreal
instead he was unlucky with his shots and only scored the winning goal

still a great game from him and a great season, and hopefully next year he will be allowed to play in the same position as he did in england
if that happens he will win the ballon d'or
it's amazing to see that he is able to create so many goal scoring oportunities for himself game after game from the position he plays in

the spanish fans complain a lot about the lack of spanish players in their clubs
florentino perez had to promess that he would buy spanish players everytime because otherwise he wouldn't be elected (he has to be elected by the spanish fans as you know)
and yet real madrid plays very few spanish players
some spanish players are also obviously discriminated against like morata for example
spanish fans also know that their league was basically bought over by arabs/muslims and they complain abut the club's policy of having arab players
for example right now at malaga they complain about spanish players not being given a chance
malaga plays with an arab player who looks axactly like benzema, amrabat
and they are arab owned

I love Gareth Bale and I think he's worth every penny of his 100M Euros transfer fee. However in this particular game, in regular time - he was not up to task. There's no such thing as an "unlucky" striker... especially not at a CL final level. As a striker, your job is to put the ball in, and if you don't - the other guys will...

That's what I'm talking about. The fans explicitly asking to have a certain number (the majority?) of Spanish players in the team. In EPL fans seem to be indifferent to this. The ownership model of some Spanish teams (based on "socios" - associates - some sort of superfans who pay an annual fee for the privilege to vote on issues important for the club) definitely helps. EPL clubs have ownership models where the owner can do with the club pretty much whatever they want, ignoring the fans (look at the recent Hull City "Tigers" scandal). However - Real Madrid has an abismal record in building their own players - just look at players like Juan Mata, Alvaro Negredo, Roberto Soldado and many others they recently ditched in favor of foreign players. Barca - for example - is much better in this respect.

yes, and morata will be the next one
he well be sent to another club while benzema is less efficient than him

I noticed Ronaldo in the background after Sergio Ramas scored the equaliser. Ronaldo wasn't celebrating as he had a neutral expression on his face and he didn't even run towards his celebrating teammates.

On Malaga playing more Arabs/Muslims. (I didn't see any of their games other than against Atletico a few weeks ago but I certainly believe it). How well did that work out for them this season? Answer: They finished 11th. Last year they were 6th and the previous year 4th.
