just another ho-hum night for a white nba center, Timofey Mozgov

23 points, 29 rebounds, 3 Ast, 1 steal, 3 blocks

Good stuff Claimjumper. That's, (29 rebounds), is the most this year. Mozgov has played well when he gets minutes and or starts.

Of the 21 Centers that are in the top 40 rebounders, 9 are white. Mozgov is not one of them (53rd), but he would be if he was given the minutes in every game.

The 9 centers in the top 40 rebounders are...

8. Vucevic, OR. 11.0
11.Bogut, GS. 10.0
15.P. Gasol, LAL. 9.7
17. Gortat, WA. 9.4
23. Valaciunas, TO. 8.6
28. Hawes, CL. 8.3
32. Plumlee, PX. 8.0
35. Kanter, UT. 7.3
40. M. Gasol, ME. 6.9

It's crazy, but the percentages of white leaders in the NBA are better than the NFL with the exception of QB!

..43% of the top rebounding Centers are white. Imagine what it would be like if they would actually give more white players a chance or actively seek more white players!

I noticed Omer Asik has been having big games (20+ rebounds) filling in for Dwight Howard. The NBA has tried to remove the center position from the game - it's not even on the All-star ballot anymore.

Right icsept. Thanks. Asik is averaging 7.7 rebounds/game, good for 33rd in the NBA, but he wasn't listed among the qualified leaders because he's only played in 45 games this season.

So that makes 10 of the top 21 rebounders are white, making that 48% or almost half. Maybe that's why they're trying to eliminate the Center position.

Sorry guys, I've been out of town for a few days and I'm making some mistakes. I left off Nikola Pekovic and Omer Asik. They're not listed among the rebound leaders either because of injury or not enough games played to be qualified, but I'll list them anyway.

22. Pekovic, MN. 8.7
33. Asik, HOU. 7.7

That would give us 11 centers among the top 23 in rebounding, or 48%, better than I originally posted!

Does this list from the "NBA teams to root for/watch" forum still apply to who people are rooting for? I think I would tend to weight "Alphas" higher (i.e. root for Dallas over the Spurs even). What are people's thoughts?

NBA 13/14: Teams To Support

Point System:
3 points for a White starter (S)
2 points for a White rotational reserve (R)
1 point for a White non-rotation reserve / benchwarmer (B)

(INJ) Indicates a player who is injured for a significant amount of time and he is NOT included in the teams point total

Bonuses:
Alpha / team leader / All-star(+2)
15+ point scorer or 8+ rebounder or 6+ assister (+1)

Most Diverse & Watchable
Minnesota Timberwolves, 24: R. Rubio (S)(+1), C. Budinger (S), K. Love (S)(+2), N. Pekovic (S)(+1), J. Barea (R), A. Shved (R), R. Hummel (B) *Many injuries so the 24 score right now is deceiving
Los Angeles Lakers, 17
: S. Nash (S), S. Blake (S)(+1), R. Kelly (S), P. Gasol (S)(+2), C. Kaman (R) *Nash plays sporadically and Gasol is injured at the moment, hard to believe they'd start 4 Whites if everyone were healthy
San Antonio Spurs, 13[/COLOR]: T. Splitter (S), M. Ginobili (R), M. Belinelli (R), A. Baynes (R), N. De Colo (R), M. Bonner (R) *Can't figure this rotation at all but every White guy gets minutes occasionally

Memphis Grizzlies, 12
: M. Gasol (S)(+2), N. Calathes (R), M. Miller (R), K. Koufos (R), J. Leuer (B) *Gasol is the reigning defensive player of the year
Phoenix Suns, 12: G. Dragic (S)(+2), Mi. Plumlee (S) (+1), A. Len (R), V. Kravtsov (B) *Dragic averaging over 20 points and over 6 assists, biggest snub from All Star team
Racist but Watchable
Golden State Warriors, 10
: D. Lee (S)(+2), A. Bogut (S)(+1), N. Nedovic (B), O. Kuzmic (B) *Bogut leading the team in rebounds

Yeah, I might agree on Dallas, it would further cement Nowitzki's legacy should he win another title. I would move Golden State up to most diverse/watchable with Steve Blake now on their roster. Also, move Cleveland to most diverse/ watchable with Spencer Hawes now the Cavaliers starting center.

Great game by Dirk last night to help beat the Suns. I have to be honest. I will be a little bummed out if Phoenix doesn't make the playoffs. Goran Dragic and Plumlee have so much fun to watch all season long and they have shut up the skeptis & critics. With 2 games left, Phoenix is down by a 1/2 game to Memphis. Memphis plays the Lakers tonight so it doesn't look good for the Suns. I'm rooting for the Lakers to pull the upset. Memphis has a few guys I like but I just love watching Dragic and the Suns a little more. Will have to wait and see what happens.

Like Carolina Speed said in a previous post, our guys from around the NBA are tearing it up night after night. The NBA is more watchable than it has been in a few decades. I hope this trend continues!

Wow! I guess everyone went to bed early on this one, including me.

Kevin Love went for 43 points and 11 boards against Sacramento, but ended up losing and are now 40-40. Too bad we won't get to enjoy Love's game in the playoffs.

M. Gasol, 18/15/4ast./ 3 stls.
Valanciunas, 18/8
Mason Plumlee, 17/11
Singler, 14/6/3 ast.
Dunleavy, 13
Miller, 13/5

What a monster game by Kevin Love. I'm sure he is taking out his frustration on another missed opportunity to go to the playoffs. I really wish we could see him in the post season. He would be so fired up I could see him averaging 30 and 15 per game. He wants it so bad!

Happy to see both the Plumlee brothers becoming stars. Mason Plumlee makes Brooklyn fun to watch along with Teletovic and Kirelenko.

Huge game tonight for the Suns. They play Memphis and they need to beat them and hope Memphis loses their last game and they win out.

I'm happy Dirk made the playoffs again. As you get older playing for titles is even more important.

Kevin Love with another 40 point night, and missed a triple double again by one assist! At least he broke Garnett's single season team scoring record. And this is the man that $@$#%ing POS racist Bill Simmons was mocking in his latest column. I sent Simmons a strongly worded e-mail, I suggest you all do the same.

Isn't Memphis the whitest team in the NBA, along with MIN? Both have 6 whites on their rosters, if I remember correctly. So, it's not a all that bad to see them make the playoffs over the Suns.

It was another night of solid performances: David Lee, Olynk, Dunleavy, Hayward, Marc Gasol, Kanter, Belinelli, and Parsons. I might be leaving out a few more.

Yeah foobar75, it's ridiculous they can't get Love 1 more assist. I believe that would have been triple/double number 4 or 4 times he missed it by 1.

Yes Memphis is very white, but only starts M. Gasol with Mike Miller getting minutes off the bench. Miller had 21 points last night. Gasol 18.

Yes, our guys continue to do well. Chicago might be a playoff team to watch as they start Dunleavy and Kirk Hinrich. Dunleavy 22 points last night.

I'll give Jimmer Fredette his own paragraph as we all our pulling for him. Jimmer had 17 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists last night for the Bulls.

What ethnicity is Greivis Vasquez? He does well most nights, 25 points last night for Toronto.

Right foobar75 we keep doing well night after night. Also, we have many with injuries or their would be even more!

Love, 40/14/9
Olynyk, 28/9/3 ast.
Lee, 25/9
Dunleavy, 22/5 ast.
Miller, 21
Fredette, 17/3/2
Parsons, 21/7/4 ast.
Hayward, 21/6/4 ast.
Kanter, 19/12
M. Gasol, 18/8/3
Belinelli, 17/4 ast.
Rubio, 15/8 ast.
Dragic, 14/6/4 ast./5 stls.
Valanciunas, 14/13
Hansbrough, 12/11/3 stls.
Gortat, 10/13

There are no words to describe the immense talent of Kevin Love. No one in the NBA can do what he does. No one. Yes I repeat it again and again. It's a damn shame he could have had 7 or 8 triple doubles this year. One assist every time and that's the reason the Twolves have lost so many close games all year long. It has to be at least 15+ games and maybe even 20 that they lost by under 4 points. I shake my head to even think about that. Regardless I give this team credit for still playing hard in back to back games at the end of the season. Anyone who doubts Loves heart, dedication or character should shut the hell up. The guy brings it every night. MVP in my opinion even without the making the playoffs. With out Love, they might win 10 games.

He better at least get first team All NBA. He is 4th in scoring and 3rd in rebounding. I am trying to remember the last white player to be first team. Probably Dirk or Nash.

Edit: It was Dirk in 08-09.

I've started seeing some season-award articles, and most have Dirk as 2nd team and Love as third-team. I think what's hurting Love is his team's record. If the T-wolves made the playoffs or had a top record, he'd definitely be up there. I think we'll most likely have 3 guys out of 15, Dirk, Love, and Dragic also as a third teamer.

One article I saw had Durant, James, Noah, Curry, and Griffin on the first team, cannot argue with that. All 5 are going to the playoffs. But no matter what, Love should be 2nd team All-NBA at worst.
