2012 Wyoming Cowboys

Since '05, Wyoming has started 15, 17, 14, 16, 15, 13 and 14 Whites, making them one of few consistently majority White teams that we have tracked. Sadly, they have gone caste big time on defense this year and will likely have just 12 White starters for the 2012 season.

Whites who may get playing time include QB Colby Kirkegaard, WRs Spencer Bruce and Josh Smith, LT Austin Traphagan, LG Rafe Kiely, Cs Travis Bogard and Skylar Hinton, RG Jake Jones, RTs Kyle Magnuson and Connor Rains , LDE Jeff Roueche, LDT Max Gustafson, RDT Patrick Mertens, NB Luke Anderson, WLB Alex Borgs, and SLB Patrick Hartford.

Colonel, so far with these previews it seems teams are getting darker. The slight gains on some teams seem to be lost because of significant dropoffs on others. It will be interesting to see once all teams are done how the numbers stack up to last year.

Thanks for all of your hard work with the previews Colonel Reb...been on vacation the past week...figured it was that time of the year again!

Wow...Wyoming being one of the whitest states..would expect at least 6 starters on defense. Luke Ruff is probably their top defender...I can see him as at least WSTD in the NFL.

I'd figure a Kyle Bell or Chance Kretschmer type RB to finally emerge for Wyoming one of these years.

The state of Wyoming is about 93-96% White, and 1-2% colored. They must be recruiting some of these afroletes from more "minority" filled states. I like pullin' for the Cowboys, but I guess I'll have to be more guarded in that this year.

TwentyTwo, I appreciate that! Yeah, I too was saddened by these numbers for Wyoming. Maybe Brandon Miller will have a nice year and they will bring in some more White backs. They definitely need more White defenders.

wa33, it does seem like things are starting out a bit rough in terms of the numbers. Having said that, it won't be till we are finished that we'll know for sure how 2012 stacks up to previous years. I have had the same bad feeling early on before, only to actually see improvement by the time we finished all the teams. We'll know in a couple of months how this season's number will measure up.

Sad to see the darkening defense. On the bright side I believe Brett Smith was a freshman all American so it will be fun to see him develop.

I highly doubt this is possible but 2 walk on white corners are getting 2nd string reps for Wyoming. Diminutive Brandon Allbright and Canadian import Jake Schiffner. I know nothing about them but I still expect super - quick true freshman Dylan Muscat to get some playing time before the year is out.

Does anyone know what happened to true freshman cornerback Dylan Muscat? He is not listed on the 2012 roster.
