Since '05, Stanford has started 11, 14, 14, 14, 15, 14 and 13 Whites, making them one of few consistently majority White teams. As expected, there will be a huge drop-off in the number of White starters in 2012. Unless there are significant changes between now and September, Stanford will field a team with just 9 White starters. I'm sure this has absolutely nothing to do with them having a black head coach in David Shaw.

Whites who should see some playing time include RB Tyler Gaffney, FB Geoff Meinken, TE Zach Ertz, LT Brendon Austin, LG Dillon Bonnell, C Conor McFadden, DEs Josh Mauro and Charlie Hopkins, OLBs Alex Debniak and Kevin Anderson, and ILB A.J. Tarpley.

Offense
QB Brett Nottingham or Josh Nunes
FB Ryan Hewitt
C Sam Schwartstein
RG Kevin Danser

Defense
DE Ben Gardner
DE Henry Anderson
OLB Chase Thomas
ILB Jerek Lancaster
OLB Trent Murphy

Are you kidding me?? I guess Shaw ran out of Harbaugh's guys. At least Harbaugh recruited white players to Stanford, even though he's a caste coach in the NFL. Shaw is clearly a whole lot worse than Harbaugh. Wow, I never thought I'd see Stanford with a less than half-white team.

I hope Gaffney isn't screwed over. It might change because he plays baseball and had to miss reps. Toby was able to miss practice but that was under a different coach. He has the opportunity to go pro in baseball, was drafted recently.

The coach can't blacken the team that much, isn't their strict academic requirements at Stanford?

dwid, for what it's worth, Tyler Gaffney should get a few carries a game and could end up starting if Taylor gets hurt. It does stink that they are both seniors and Gaffney has never had a real shot to start. He'd do well no doubt, there's just that ever-present problem with White backs, lack of opportunity.

To answer your question, yes there are comparatively strict academic requirements for Stanford athletes, but if he wants to, Shaw can take a disproportionate number of blacks that are already on the team and make them starters. We don't usually see huge changes like these in one year, so it tells me that it says quite a bit about a coach who will do something like that, even before he has a chance to impact the racial makeup of the roster through recruiting.

I expected Stanford's number to drop this year because so much White talent graduated, but I didn't think it would end up being this low. As always, there is reason to believe that changes will happen before the season begins that will result in Stanford having one or two more White starters. Time will tell.

Definitely a good career move on Tyler's part, although I'm sad to see him leave football, especially since he's one of very few White RBs who would get at least a few carries a game and a chance to start if his teammate was injured. :mmph:

That's true, Colonel. It's definatly better when a white RB gets 4-5 carries a game is better than teams that have none at their roster.

Black coaches almost always are racist and fill the squad with lesser qualified Negroes. As such, Stanford will suffer this year with a less athletic team.

Junior QB Brett Nottingham officially announced that he's transferring. Sophomore Kevin Hogan is the way of the future anyway...

I am not trying to be a sour grape here but is Tyler Gaffney white? He looks to be part Hispanic. I am still going to root for the kid. Stanford does have some young black talent at rb to challenge him including Barry Sanders Jr. but I wish him the best.
