nice win by Bubba, because 1) he's a southpaw like me, and 2) americans should win american tournaments, I could have done without the tears though. geez it's just a game.

Phil would have been my first choice but that triple bogey did him in, he was trying to play back from it the entire game. If he didn't have a right handed club in his bag he should have went back to the tee, trying to turn a lefty club over and hacking it out was not a good choice. He still played very good.

Watson's iron shot on the second playoff hole and Oostheizen's double eagle will go down as two of the most famous shots in golf history. Oostheizen made a lot of very tough par putts from the 4 to 8 foot range on Augusta's glass-like greens. It really seemed like his destiny to win after the double eagle. Watson had to play superbly to take it away from him. His four straight birdies on the back nine (13, 14, 15 and 16) were similar to what Schwartzl did last year to emerge from a large pack to win.

What a shame to have to wait 51 weeks for the next Masters.

It sure seemed like Oostheizen was destined to win. He's good friends with Schwartzl and it almost was pre-ordained that his good friend would be helping him on with a jacket. I thought Bubba had blown it with that first sudden death hole when he missed a makeable clinching birdie, and then when he shanked one into the woods it appeared over.

Oostheizen perhaps over thought it when he went back to his bag for a 3 to ensure he stayed in the fairway (which he didn't) and his cautious shot to the stick on the approach left him short leading to the bogey that lost it for him. But he sure played good for the most part. Hard to understand how those guys can hit shots with that kind of pressure.

Just think of the reaction they would have if he was black. They would be messing themselves for sure!

Well, I suppose I can excuse the two occasions in which Watson’s eyes well up with tears after his victory, as the purse for the 2012 Masters Champion was $1,440,000...

As others have mentioned, this was a fantastic tournament. White golfers dominating the playing field contrasted against the immense psychosomatic torment (for the TigerCentric Golf Media) of Tiger falling apart on Saturday after winning his first PGA-sponsored tournament in years only weeks prior. I wanted Phil to win because he’s my favorite golfer (and was playing very well over the weekend), but Watson is a worthy champion.
