Michael Phelps now has 20 total medals (16 golds), and still has a legit chance to get 2 more before his storied career is complete. It was so predictable that the racist Michael Wilbon would immediately spring to action and try to discredit Phelps by bringing up Carl Lewis and Jesse Owens as two guys he would actually rate ahead. By any objective measure, it's not even close.

The media's new talking point will be something along the lines of, "Oh Phelps is great but Jesse Owens is the greatest". Another "journalist" hemorrhoid, Greg Doyle of cbssports, now must try to rain on the parade.

However, Phelps won the fan poll on the cbs homepage by 49% to 30% over Owens. Guess the populous isn't buying what Marxists like Doyle are selling.

Maybe they're tring to look at it from some historical perspective, but even factoring that in Phelps is still way more dominant than Owens. Owens had four golds in a pretty good Olympic performance, but Phelps has 20 medals 16 golds and 9 Olympic world records. He's also been in 3 Olympics as opppose to Owens just having 1.

Every now and then there's a black who breaks through in a traditionally White dominated sport, but it's no biggie (though it is if the judges paternally boosted Douglas to the gold). I expect the 2016 U.S. gymnastics teams to be all non-black; same with the swimming teams. "the hive" got me laughing. Perfect description of what they do. Every time a black does well in a predominantly white sport like tennis, golf, swimming, gymnastics, whatever, the media goes to this same template.

Gabby is sitting there as an Olympic champion, and what a Bob Costas sees is a black to use to make himself feel better, and to further an agenda. I might even be happy for her on some level if the media didn't use her like that. A small part of it is usually caused by the athlete saying something about wanting to be an inspiration to other blacks in the sport. I imagine a Wes Welker would like to say something like that, if he could. Honestly, I don't hold that against the athlete. The athlete could say one sentence about that in a 30 minute interview, and that's the only thing a Bob Costas would hear. His mind fills with visions of all black medalists in just a few short years; young black girls eschewing crime, drugs and early unwed pregnancy for a life of gymnastics glory, and he can congratulate himself for being soooooooo progressive for even thinking about it. Meanwhile, Tiger, the Williams sisters, Dawes, et al, have been around for over 15 years, and blacks are still rare in those sports. We can only name so many things after Arthur Ashe. I think you could also nominate Paavo Nurmi as he is the all time leader in medals in track and field. He also is tied for the most gold medals with Carol err Carl Lewis. Interestingly he had his career cut short by politics as he was declared a professional just before the 32' games in Los Angeles, otherwise he might have won 2 more medals(in the 10K and marathon).

Michael Phelps goes out on a high note, with one last chance tomorrow to get his 22nd overall medal (!!!), 18 of them gold. He continues to make Wilbon and any other other racist/cultural-marxist lapdog foolish for questioning his legacy. Just for proper context, for the past 10-12 years, some of the best swimmers from all over the world have competed against him and lost virtually every time.

This is almost unprecedented dominance, and it's downright silly to compare a cheating fool like Carl Lewis or Jesse Owens (not a cheater, but the numbers simply do not compare) just to racially balance the situtation, which seems to happen automatically whenever a White athlete does well and gets the spotlight.

The second half of the Olympics should not be too bad. Sure, the blacks will get some of the limelight in the T & F sprints, but there are still plenty of White athletes to root for, including in track. The medal standings are starting to look a bit normal now with China the only Asian country in the top 5.

Anyway, the only way Owens can ever be considered in the same sentence as Phelps is if you factor in sentimentality.

As in, for all practical purposes, Phelps is obviously the superior Olympian, but the Owens story is more of a feel-good, thumb-in-the-eye of that piece of sh** Hitler.

Yeah, it's a good story, and by all accounts Owens was a stand-up guy, but come on, now. As bad as the Nazis were, by every reliable account they were exceedingly proper during the games, and Owens was not bullied or anything.

I don't know if the USA could make the same claims in the way they treated their African mercenary athletes back then, though... Hmm.

Another fact the USA conveniently forgets is that in 1936, despite Owens giving the USA a boost in certain marquee events, the rest of the Olympics was a TITANIC Nazi as$-whooping of the world. Which has nothing to do with their Whiteness, but the fact that they poured money into developing their talent.

The Soviets in the past, and the USA and the Chinese currently do that. The USA will never admit to having an unfair advantage, though.
