BIG time props to Johnny Manziel! Entertainment at it's finest!!! And to Ryan Swope!

When i made a special post about Manziel in Texas A&M pre-season thread...during the first game of his career vs the Florida Gators in early Sept...knew he was a special player in just a few series of watching him...but had no idea way back then he'd win the Heisman Trophy as a redshirt freshman!

http://www.castefootball.us/forums/showthread.php/14686-2012-Texas-A-amp-M-Aggies

Looking forward seeing what Ryan Swope, Conner Vernon & Brandon Kaufman can do in the NFL!

That is the greatest football performance I've ever seen. He did whatever he wanted to the whole game. This kid could end up being the greatest of all time. I could see him helping to take the Aggies to a National Championship and on to the NFL.

Amazing. Incredible. Superb!!!!!
Hey White Lightning, did not see the game live, however, did see the highlights on BSPN, Yahoo Sports and Foxsports on line. All, including the CM stalwarts BSPN and Yahoo gave glowing praise and kudos to Johnny Football, it would be hard not to based on that epic performance.

On Yahoo, Johnny advised he would be hitting the weights in the off season and going to QB school/camp. I am certain he will not be making the Crouch mistake of 14 years ago, by switching to reciever. No, he will flourish as a mobile/running QB thank you very much!

WL, just curious, how much better was Johnny's performance compared to CF's favorite unemployeed black quarterback AHDIW performance in the Rose Bowl of 2006 against a good USC team?

And to think Manziel did it all without being fast

From the good people at ESPN:

http://espn.go.com/blog/dallas/coll...6/johnny-manziel-sure-is-fun-to-see-in-person

in a very laudatory piece, in which Manziel is even praised for athleticism, the writer just can't let it go without this gem:

"Perhaps Manziel wouldn’t win a 40-yard dash against some of the Oklahoma defenders, but his ability to change directions and make shrewd cuts..."

You see, he isn't "fast", he's "shrewd". One of you trolls try to explain this one.

Here's an interesting point that SBNation makes about Oklahoma from yesterday's game (not that we aren't already aware of this stuff):

11.3. Oklahoma's average recruiting ranking, according to Rivals.com, over the last four years. Certainly not too bad. So here's an honest, non-accusatory question for Oklahoma fans: Where is the truly elite talent? Is there any? As I mentioned above, Oklahoma almost perfectly executed the Kansas State game plan in the first half, but the subtitle for the Kansas State game plan is "Beating teams seemingly more talented/athletic than you." There aren't supposed to be teams more talented/athletic than Oklahoma.

In the last three recruiting classes, Oklahoma has signed three players rated at either five stars or the highest four-star designation. Receiver/athlete Justin McCay, from the class of 2010, failed to make any impact and transferred to Kansas. Running back Brandon Williams, from the class of 2011, failed to see the field in 2011 and transferred to Texas A&M. Receiver Trey Metoyer, star of 2012's spring practices, caught just 17-of-29 passes for 148 yards in 2012 and was fending off transfer rumors himself.

In 2009, Oklahoma signed three such lofty recruits: defensive end Justin Chaisson, who left school after making no impact (OU's lack of elite end play last night was both obvious and staggering), defensive back Kevin Brent, who left school after making no impact, and defensive end/linebacker Ronnell Lewis, now a Detroit Lion. Oklahoma has signed consistently solid (if unspectacular) recruiting classes, but the Sooners have struggled to either uncover truly elite talent or get it on the field. And it was painfully obvious last night. When Oklahoma desperately needed to make a play, the Sooners realized they were outmanned by their opponent.

This is what happens when a coach restricts his available talent pool to only 12% of the male population.

that's a great find, Highlander.

*******************************

i'm currently watching the FCS National Championship game between North Dakota State and Sam Houston State. one of the most intriguing match-ups is between SHSU's top receiver/returner Trey Diller and NDSU's All-American affletic cornerback Marcus Williams.

SHSU has the ball to open the second half, and already (including this series) Diller has drawn 3 pass interference penalties on the top cover corner (according to the pundits) in the FCS. i also have him for 3 catches. how is that possible?!? :tape: Williams has 1 interception on a badly overthrown ball.

NDSU, wide receiver/returner Ryan Smith looks to be the fastest player in the game.

I can't even compare Manziel and his performance to Vince Young. "Radio" as he is nick named here was not near the all around athlete, scholar, or even close to as explosive as Johnny Football. It's really like watching Barry Sanders with a arm. I even heard one guy on sportscenter say that while the others cringed. Johnny Manziel has an ability to cut and accelerate that is unmatched by no one else in college or in the nfl at the qb position. He is a very high fast twitch athlete who excels at everything and can do a 360 degree dunk on a
ten foot regulation rim. This guy can do anything and yet he still has an arm to die for. Then on top of all of that, he has already almost finished college way ahead of everyone else. Can you say superstar? In a fair world, he should have more hype than RG3 and Bo Jackson put together. Somehow I don't see that happening.

I love this kid. He is the "one". Expect alot of jealousy and attempts to derail him by the media, fans and players of opposing teams. Another thing they will hate is that he is another good white christian boy which they cannot stand. I love it! I hope Tim Tebow can give him some advice on what to expect down the road!!!

Yeah Johnny Football is quite literally the best Ive ever seen. Hes just an unbelievable talent. If he was black he would be considered deity by now. He really does move like the best tailback you can imagine, but can also throw with the best of them. Hes not like the other "duel threat" QBs of the past, because nobody can possibly question his throwing ability. I still fully expect him to get the Frost/Crouch/Jones/Tebow treatment when the time comes to go pro. If that happens surely the DWFs will wake up a little.

Doesn't Notre Dame have a qb that can actually pass the ball? They are going on about his mobility but its not helping and the Bama qb isn't relying on his legs

Golson has "upside" and "makes plays with his feet", using his athletic athleticism to athletically out-athlete defenses. I hear he can "wrist flick" the ball 90 yards. He's part of the "new wave of quarterbacks who are revolutionizing the position."

Kirk ****-street was saying that the Irish have to stick with Gholston because he gives them the best chance to win. The brainwashed will not let go of their indoctrination no matter how much it violates reality. It's 28-0, game is basically over.

I didn't think the Irish were that good this year. The defense was okay and the advantage of playing Gholston is that a ball control offense compliments a good defense. However when the defense plays poorly the running/poor passing Qb is nothing but a liability.

Expect the sports media complex to shade this as further verification of the superiority of black players. Notre Dame is whiter, but not where it counts, at the QB position. Alabama is winning because they have a great White QB leading them. Put a guy like that on ND and it's a different story.

Hah, too bad they can't win. Also, where is this game changing Teo guy that was so hyped up for the Heisman? The guy who is supposed to lift up his an entire defense? Missed tackles left and right, can't shed blocks. Looks like Bama will put out another plodding RB into the nfl, this one looks slower than Richardson and Ingram

Lacy might be a stiff runner, but physically he is on another level of any back that Notre Dame has seen this season.

That's what bothers me, we have tons of White guys that could do what he does. Marcus Lattimore was another guy, not elusive or a burner. I mean Jed Collins could do that. I mean most of our bigger guys moved to fb or lb have better change of direction skills but just don't have elite top end speed.

That's the whole problem, in a nutshell: any white guy that runs with power is going to be roided up into a fullback, and any white guy that's elusive (which necessarily means little) won't get the chance because he's "too short". We might see some sort of critical mass reached at running back if Hillis, Gerhart, and Burkhead can somehow all three end up in the right situation at the right time. I can dream.

I watched the first quarter and a half, and Herbstreit was per usual spewing forth one Caste-ese comment after another. He was particularly picking on ND safety Zeke Motta, who was far and away the team's best defensive player during the time I watched. He was making lots of tackles and was always near the ball carrier. When the Alabama RB barely made Zeke miss after he had shot into the backfield and nearly made a great play, Herbstreit singled him out for criticism, with of course the camera lingering on Motta then and several other times. In fact, there was a lot of camera lingering on the White ND defensive players, which makes me glad I don't have time to watch the rest of the game. The synchronization between the producer in the truck, as far as what camera shots are chosen, and the announcers in the booth, has become quite the art form.

Are you saying Jed Collins could equal the production of Eddie Lacy on Alabama, all things being equal?

Get 1k for Alabama, yes, he was a good h back in college no top end speed but Lacy only has a couple of runs over 30 if I am not mistaken. Heath Evans or John Kuhn probably would have been better names to throw out there but they did put Collins out on kick returns a few times a season and he added about 25 pounds from high school to college

Willie Rose is another good example, the fastest player on fau the year he came out but was stuck in a role that Hillis had in college fb te slot wr, occasional carries

I don't think he would come even close to 6.5 yards a clip. But I do think Kuhn would be very successful.

I think he could've came around 6. The back up got 1k. Ingram did it and has been nothing special. Richardson overhyped as well. Go look at the scouting reports, toughness, instincts, power, acceleration...Areas for improvement change of direction, described as stiff in the hips and an upright runner, that's both Lacy and Yeldon. I could go look at tape of a bunch of White guys that fit that profile both supposedly fast in the 40 but haven't seen it in a game. Yeldon looks a bit faster but weighs less.

Collins ran a 4.88, which is painfully slow to be a starting running back. Yeldon is 18 years old and runs a (reported) 4.4.
