Even though the 2011 college football season is practically over, I decided it still wasn't too late to post this preview. Caste garden tool extraordinaire Butch Davis is gone, but his anti-white legacy remains in the '11 version of the Tar Babies. The new AA hire is black and I doubt he'll change things much. Since '05, they've had 9, 8, 5, 7, 4 and 5 White starters. Looks like just 4 for this season. Some White backups who may see action include TB Hunter Furr, QB Braden Hanson, FB Matt Kolojejchick, TE Sean Fitzpatrick, LG Peyton Jenest, LG/C Scott Mincey, C Russell Bodine, RG David Collins, RT T.J. Leifheit, LDE Adam Curry, RDE Alec Petrocelli, MLB Tommy Heffernan, and CB Pete Mangum.

Offense
QB Bryn Renner
TE Nelson Hurst
LT James Hurst

Defense
SS Matt Merletti-in a fight for the position

“Hunter came to me this week and asked for his release,â€￾ said Withers in a statement. “He is seeking an opportunity for more playing time and I respect his wishes. We’ve enjoyed having Hunter in the program and I wish him nothing but the best as he continues his college career.â€￾

And here's how it really went:

Furr: "Coach, I'd like an opportunity to compete for one of the runningback jobs this season."
Withers: "NO GODDAMN HONKEY IS EVER GOING TO TOUCH THE BALL ON ONE OF MY TEAMS!!! YOU'RE ON TOWEL DUTY FOR THE REST OF YOUR CAREER!"

Withers is right about one thing. Hunter's career is over. Too much time wasted with nothing to show for it. No school is going to let him carry the ball now. Let this be a lesson to all white high school football players. You are not welcome at the University of North Carolina. Furthermore, you are not wanted by any Butch Davis coached team except as a means to improve the APR score.

Riddlewire, are you ever in a good mood buddy?! Every post reeks of negativity.. Ik with the caste system in place it is hard to stay positive, but to always be in such a sour mood isn't good for anyone. We should be cheering that Furr has finally transferred and that he has experienced the caste system first hand. We need more naive white athletes to experience the inequalities set in stone.

Furr's a talented kid and I hope he is itching for the opportunity to go somewhere else, maybe he'll do a little research this time on schools that allow a white runner, and tear it up once he gets on the field!

I've got to give some credit for having the good sense to atleast try to go to another program. It definitely wasn't going to any better for him at UNC.

It doesn't look good for Hunter, but I hope I'm wrong and truly hope something good will come out of this for him.

Im glad he finally transferred. It might be a little too late but you never know, he could go to a school and light it up for a season, hope to get on some team's radar as an UDFA with his freakish athleticism. It is a long shot, but better than if he had stayed with North Carolina.

I agree. There are a lot of posters here that I respect but I still make a habit to point out when they say stuff like "his career is over" or "he will get no carries this year, he will be a WSTD."

I always like to use the example of would you say this to yourself if you were in that position, or keep your hopes and dreams alive and try to make an impact somewhere? Would you say it to your own son if he was playing college football? Would you go up to Danny Woodhead at camp, which I'm sure you could if you staked out the opportunity, and tell him to pack his bags because he's not getting any carries?

I have no problem with anyone making a claim that someone was screwed for a specific period of time when and after it happens, like with Hillis in Denver, and even the first couple weeks in Cleveland. But to forecast negativity makes no sense to me, even with the well-noted track record of guys that did get screwed over. To me I am always pulling for every white athlete in a sticky position to be the one that spontaneously breaks through, that many of us thought had no opportunities left, through like Danny Woodhead when he didn't get drafted, was on IR with the Jets rookie year, got very few touches year two, and was cut mid-season in his third year. Or when Hillis had two other RBs getting carries in front of him at Arkansas, got drafted as a 7th round FB to Denver, and 5 RBs who started games before he did (although Don famously conjured up the notion that the five RBs could get injured forcing them to use Hillis, I doubt many of us believe it was possible). Since all these crazy scenarios have happened before, I'm always open to their possibility again and optimistic that special things can, have, and will happen.
