In case anybody is interested in keeping track of the Gold Cup, here's a thread for it.


The US is playing against Canada right now.

The US started the game with 7 whites, and 4 blacks. (I know Bocanegra is a hispanic, but the guy has straight hair and greenish looking eyes.)

Canada started with 8 whites and 3 blacks.

Altidore just scored for the US. That has to be his first goal in the last couple of years. I can't remember the guy doing anything very important.

Well, following a 2-0 win over Jamaica the United States has reached the semifinals, where they shall face Panama, who only scraped past El Salvador on penalties.
Hopefully, the U.S. shall avenge that embarrassing loss in the group stage...

I couldn't believe it when Bradley didn't start Landon Donovan against Jamaica. He came on about 60-65 minutes in to the match. I guess with them only playing Jamaica they could afford to rest the best athlete.

I think the reason they didn't start Landon was some physical issues regarding jet lag and lots of traveling the previous day. He still should have started the elimination game though as Jamaica was performing fairly well in previous games and a victory should not be assummed.

Yeah Rebajlo, I hope the US is able to beat Panama this time, and that the group stage game was a fluke. The US just played their best game of the tournament against Jamaica on Sunday. Panama isn't exactly world beaters either.

If anyone is curious, the US started 7 whites against Jamaica, and would've started 8 if Donovan started, which he will against Panama. They finished with 8 whites after Donovan came on. The US is actually whiter than a few European teams, like Holland, England, and of course, Senegal North.

Yeah, I noticed that the Jamaican team is a little low on talent. It must be because all of the athletic Jamaicans are huddling in the sprint camps.

If only Usain Bolt, Asafa Powell, Steve Mullings, Yohan Blake, etc. played soccer, the country's team would be saved!

USA vs Mexico this Saturday in the Gold Cup final. This game will be played at the Rose Bowl and there will probably be more fans cheering for the Mexicans than the USA. It might as well be a road game.

Well, if the U.S. really does start 7-8 whites I will cheer for them.

But I tuned in to a friendly versus Spain a few weeks ago and saw 5-6 blacks in U.S. uniforms capering around aimlessly on the pitch. If that is the case again I will cheer for Mexico.

Freddy Adu finally played well. He came on as a substitute and helped set up the goal, as did Donovan. If he's willing to be a team player in a supporting role helping out Dempsey and Donovan he may be useful. But would he (and the media) be satisfied with him being anything other than The Man?

Freddie Adu is starting and he sucks. Every time I see him with the ball some Mexican is taking it away from him.

Make that 7-8 whites as I just learned Tim Howard has a black father. Figures as he let in 3 straight goals.
