2011 Chicago Bears
Lovie Smith is one of the worst caste coaches in the NFL, and has buried numerous talented White players (especially WRs and DBs) on the depth chart and/or cut them from the team for no reason except their skin color. Despite having an overwhelmingly black roster, they aren’t getting much better as a team. It undoubtedly has something to do with their being one of the most consistently anti-White teams over the last several years. Of course, the ownership goes right along with it.
A couple of the many Whites cut include record setting RB Brock Forsey and Biletnikoff Award winner Mike Hass. In ’05, ’07, and ’08, the Bears had 6 White starters and just 13 Whites on their roster. In ‘06, they had 5 and 12. In ’10, Chicago had just 4 and 12. This year, the Chicago roster includes 16 Whites, 1 polynesian, 1 hispanic, and 35 blacks. The starters include just 4 Whites, 1 hispanic, and 17 blacks. So while the Bears roster got a little Whiter, their on-the-field product is darker than ever before.
Talented starting QB Jay Cutler doesn't get the credit he deserves and despite having a horrible WR corps is actually very solid. Former CSU Ram Caleb Hanie backs Cutler up. Rookie Nathan Enderle comes from Idaho and is the 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] QB.
Arguably the biggest surprise from the Bears preseason is the emergence of un-drafted WR Dane Sanzenbacher. Dane was a fast, sure-handed, deep threat at Ohio State and will do good things if Cutler is allowed to throw to him regularly. Any black WR with Sanzenbacher's resume would have been drafted, without question. Still, it is nice to see the Bears pick up a White WR. Despite making the 53 man roster, Dane starts his racial apprenticeship buried on the depth chart as the 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] WR behind the perpetually stone-handed Roy Williams and half-decent Johnny Knox. It remains to be seen if Hatie will actually allow Dane to play or progress in his very caste-oriented system.
The Bears just signed FB Tyler Clutts from the Browns, and he will be the starter at that position when it is used.
The Bears never used former starting TE Greg Olsen correctly and now he is plying his trade in Carolina. Hatie Smiff has turned to Kellen Davis (black) as his TE of choice. The Bears acquired veteran Pittsburgh backup Matt Spaeth as their second TE. Backing him up is Rookie Kyle Adams from Purdue.
RT Gabe Carimi is the only White starter (and the only White player) on a perpetually bad offensive line. Hatie loves his sumos, don’t you know! Even the DWFs in Chicago know the line is bad, but Smiff refuses to upgrade with more Whites.
On special teams, Kicker Robbie Gould has been “goulden” for the Bears the last 6 seasons. Punter Brad Maynard was released by the Bears after a great career and has been replaced by Adam Podlesh. Veteran Long Snapper Patrick Mannelly has played in more Bear games than anyone in the history of the franchise and is the longest tenured Bear on the roster.
Former Seattle Seahawk DE Nick Reed landed a roster spot with a strong preseason and hopes to eventually see some playing time.
6 time Pro-Bowl MLB Brian Urlacher returns for his 12 season and will add to his prodigious tackle total. Rookie Dom DeCicco (6-4 230) from Pittsburgh will back-up Urlacher.
Safety Craig Steltz has been *almost* named a starter by coaches numerous times over the past few seasons. Despite this, he will occupy the second string behind Chris Harris. Another big surprise is that the Bears drafted former Cal DB Chris Conte in the 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] round. The tall and fast Conte played CB at Cal before switching to Safety (a more racially appropriate role). Conte is currently behind Major Wright at Free Safety on the depth chart.
