The present Bears' offensive line is the worst I've ever seen, rivaled only by the consistently awful lines that "protected" David Carr in Houston. They are all obese sumos, and are so ineffective and unathletic that I think you could line up five random fat citizens and they'd do just as good a job. When you combine that line with the horrific group of WRs he has, it's astounding that Jay Cutler is able to produce as well as he does.
During the Monday Night game, even Gruden and Jaws expressed amazement at the awful offensive line, after they kept repeatedly getting false start penalities (the sumo special). At one point, Gruden actually said about shockingly bad TE Kellen Davis, who also kept committing penalties, "you might want to think about getting a new TE in there."
Yesterday, on the Mike and Mike show, they were showing Lovie Smith's insane reply to the question of whether he was concerned about Cutler taking too many hits. Lovie said, "He's a big boy, and this is football," or something absurd like that. Even the odious Greenie expressed mild outrage at this, stating, "I don't think that's the answer you want your coach to give" to such questions. Well, we know Lovie isn't about to get rid of the sumos, cut Roy Williams or admit Devin Hester is just a kick returner, and not an NFL WR.
It's all fun in today's wide world of sports....
