I hope Col. Reb doesn't mind to much, but I can't sleep and I saw that CFN posted their BYU preview, so I figured I'd just get it done. BYU looks to be back after having a down year by their standards in 2010. Jake Heaps will be much improved as a sophomore, this guy has talent and he will be able to hook up often with big play WR McKayJacobsen!Matt Reynolds is projected as a top Tacklefor next year's draft and he's a beast of a man. BYU will start14 whites and 6Poly's.

It would have been nice to have previewed BYU, since I was there for several years. I'd much rather have had UCLA pulled out from under my feet than BYU.

To be honest though, I'd rather have the help than not. I'm really busy right now and that is why I said I was going to wait to preview teams this year. I just hope there are still as many of you competing to preview the ultra-caste teams that aren't quite so much fun. Time will tell.

I get your point, Jack. I just know that the excitement wanes after all the "good" teams are done.

I think there's only 1-2 of us after the Stanfords and Northwestern teams are done. Also, we now have two 2011 BYU thread, a mod should delete the other one.

BYU has started a few more whites in the past, 18 in 2005, 16 in 2006, 15 in 2007, 16 from 2008 to 2010. this number may be a little high, though, as I counted the white as winning in position fights.

One thing about reviewing Auburn or Miami of Florida is that it doesn't take too long, and usually you only have to deal with a few offensive players. Just looking at the bright side.

referendum, you can check the "Whitest College Teams" threads from each season to see how BYU ended up each year, as I tried to update the original post anytime we received new info on a team. 14 is a drop for BYU, even though I counted polys on all teams through '07 (a big mistake on my part). It usually takes me longer to preview darker teams than Whiter ones because I'm more familiar with the White players. Even though it is tempting to skip over the names we think are black players, every once in a while we find a White player with a black sounding name.

BYU wants top football recruits, Mormon or not

Provo "¢ Fresh off a three-year stint at Navy, new BYU football recruiting coordinator and running backs coach Joe DuPaix insists he isn't the sole reason for what appears to be a subtle shift in BYU's recruiting philosophy.

It just kind of looks that way.
Having signed a nearly all-LDS class of football players in February â€" 18 of the school's 19 signees from the class of 2011 are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints â€" the Cougars' revamped coaching staff, by all appearances, has broadened its scope a bit when it comes to trying to attract non-LDS players to the school owned by the church.
BYU already has a commitment from linebacker Bobby Wolford, a self-described devout Catholic from Bishop Kenny High School in Jacksonville, Fla., and has made scholarship offers to several other non-LDS players, including running back Jamaal Williams of Fontana, Calif., and Jherremya Leuta-Douyere, a linebacker/defensive end from Servite High in Anaheim, Calif.
"I don't think that is just my influence,"Â said DuPaix, who is LDS. "I think when you have a new staff that comes together, there are maybe a lot more ideas that are shared amongst the staff that kind of bring the new coaches up to speed. And then the new coaches bring some new things to the table as well. Collectively, we just really feel as a staff that we can go out and find the right kids, whether they be [LDS], or anything else."Â
All told, the staff has 12 commitments from members of the class of 2012 â€" 13 if you count Lone Peak defensive back Micah Hannemann, who committed last week but won't sign until 2013 due to a scholarship crunch. Eleven of the commits are LDS, but there's no question that the net has been expanded.
Former recruiting coordinator Paul Tidwell said last year that BYU coaches are targeting players from private Christian schools across the country that share many of the same standards and values as BYU espouses.
"We are looking for the best kids that will come to BYU, whether they live in a different state across the country, or whether they live right here in Provo, Utah. The point is to find the best BYU-fit football players to come to BYU. That might mean that they are LDS, that might mean that they are not LDS. Either way, that is irrelevant,"Â DuPaix said last week.

I think you have a point, Don. Going independent, now BYU will use its own network, BYUTV to air games (live and delayed) around the world, plus they now have a deal with ESPN to air all of their home football games. I'm sure the coaches had this in mind when deciding to "expand their recruiting base."

one addition to the BYU team isn't going to be on the field, although he's done his share of playmaking in the past. Ben Cahoon, the CFL's all-time leader in receptions (and a BYU alum), is now the receivers coach. hopefully this former phenomenal wideout can turn BYU's receivers into the big-play threats they need to be. the Cougars passing game struggled mightily last year, and poor play by the wide receivers was a big part of that. even a guy i thought would shatter the record books played terribly: McKay Jacobson.

it would be nice to see McKay return to his freshman glory (as well as the other wideouts), and perhaps Cahoon is a guy who can get it done on the sideline.

Id never thought Id see the day but BYU receivers are now more non white percentage wise than white. At least the 5 or 6 that will see time this fall. I hope Jacobson, Faldsev and Rhen Brown have monster years though.

I keep debating on whether I should go watch BYU play New Miss in Oxford. I could spare the expense and watch it on TV, but it is kind of an interesting situation for me.

Nice Caste Football referenced article over at Stuff Black People Don't Like-BYU Safety Daniel Sorensen has said he and his fellow "white boys" are coming down south to whoop up on Ole Miss. Although he connects it into creating interest in BYU and "the church" it is interesting to hear something like this from any White athlete.

White Boys, Armageddon, and College Football: It all comes down to Sports

BYU represents what all colleges and universities in America once looked like, sporting an Honor Code (that Black people hate) and sports programs that are majority white and reflect the majority of the students. Certainly, BYU represents what the SEC schools all looked as late as 1971. Just as BYU basketball star Jimmer Fredette was made fun of for being a white boy competing in the Black world of basketball, BYU football players have received scorn from Sports Illustrated and other outlets for playing white boys.

Daniel Sorensen, the starting strong safety for BYU, dared to point out that a bunch of white boys from Provo are getting ready to head to Oxford - he didn't state that the crowd will be 99 percent white - and play a team of largely unqualified Black athletes. Read The Blind Side by Michael Lewis or Meat Market to learn about the academic titans Ole Miss recruits. Here's what Sorenson said to the Daily Herald:

"The purpose of BYU, why we're here and why we're playing – and where we're trying to go with this program. It kind of fires you up. It kind of gets you excited.

"To go out there and play for a specific purpose of showing people that we're playing for more than football. This is a faith-based university and we're trying to represent that. The players, and the flag bearers.​

"What if we go out there and dominate (at Ole Miss, Sept. 3) and people start seeing us? And they put us on the map, and we're on ESPN. And they start wondering who these kids are – what are they doing with their lives, and why are they so good?

"And maybe a bunch of white boys out there go down and beat up on an SEC team, a big, physical team like (Ole Miss). If we go in there and dominate, what does that say? It starts raising questions and curiosity.

"It starts making things interesting. Getting the pot stirred, and what not. Shoot, that's fun. That's what we're out here to do. We're out here to turn heads. We're out here to change the norm of BYU and what people think of us.

"I would like to see people start fearing us. I don't know. Kind of looking at BYU as a dominant team. Especially the defense. Nobody is going to want to run against us. Start setting that respect

It's not "white boys" getting into trouble (and if they do, normally a bunch of Black guys got them in trouble like at Auburn and LSU recently), but it is white boys keeping those graduation rates up.

"White boys", Armageddon, and sports; it all comes down to college football being the tool that allowed Birmingham, Atlanta, Memphis, Columbia, and hundreds of other southern cities and counties to be completely turned over to the Black Undertow and corrupt Black city leaders and their Disingenuous White Liberal (DWL) enablers.

When Boise State plays UGA this coming Saturday in Atlanta and the Georgia Dome and BYU kicks-off against the Mississippi Black Bears from Oxford, remember that Boise State and BYU reflect what SEC football teams should look like.
