When he was SI's Sportsmen of the Year a few years back, I was impressed by how generous and humble Favre is. This portrayal of him as an attention-grabbing wiggeris hardlyaccurate. Yeah, he's turned his annual retirementritual into a joke -- one which the media actually started by hounding him with retirement questions every year beginning when he was still in his mid-30s --but in what other ways hasFavre been an attention hound? He goes home in the offseason to his ranch and maintains a low profile. He's not hanging in Vegas with rappers or "dancing with the stars" on TV. He's pretty much a good old boy, a flawed one, but a good old boy.
