When he was SI's Sportsmen of the Year a few years back, I was impressed by how generous and humble Favre is. This portrayal of him as an attention-grabbing wiggeris hardlyaccurate. Yeah, he's turned his annual retirementritual into a joke -- one which the media actually started by hounding him with retirement questions every year beginning when he was still in his mid-30s --but in what other ways hasFavre been an attention hound? He goes home in the offseason to his ranch and maintains a low profile. He's not hanging in Vegas with rappers or "dancing with the stars" on TV. He's pretty much a good old boy, a flawed one, but a good old boy.

He will certainly have a great legacy when he actually retires and I'm sure he's left us all with great memories. I enjoyed the Brett Favre that played for Green Bay. He had countless great games and Brett was a great leader then. I don't know what's happened with Favre in the last few years. Maybe he's going through a mid-life crisis or something. He's 41 now and he knows he won't be playing too much longer. That could explain his behavior. I just wish he was the same guy from Green Bay..

He was better last year with the Vikings than he ever was with Green Bay, at least statistically. That was a season for the ages. I don't see how he's any different now than when he played for Green Bay.

Behavior wise. He was well respected in Green Bay and the fans loved him. I've talked to quite a few Vikings fans that can't stand him. I wish he would have retired already. No use in killing yourself out on the football field.

That's typical DWF group-think mentality following the lead of the media. I haven't noticed howFavre changed from how he conducted himself in Green Bay to now being "a little boy who constantly needs media attention wherever he goes," but I guess that's a matter of perception. Coming very close to leading the Vikings to the Super Bowl last year at the age of 40 took great ability, leadership, and character.

Hopefully it'll be a nice showing by two of the Whitest offenses in the league, with White tight ends and receivers on both teams, quite a contrast to the Sunday night game, especially the Steelers' 20 black starters. Hopefully Schaub will get Kevin Walter involved. He's been close to invisible in the passing game of late. But I won't be very surprised if it turns out to be the Andre Johnson and Reggie Wayne show.Edited by: Don Wassall

Manning probably throws for over 300 yards tonight against the Texans passing defense which is ranked last in the league. Tamme should be able to make a few catches as well. I'm hoping Walter has a big game so he can have a chance at getting that elusive 1,000 yard season this year.

The one problem I have with Favre is, when one of the black starters got hurt in the game at outside wr, Don Beebe went in and had like 220 yards receiving on 11 catches. The black guy returned and then Beebe returned to being a situational slot receiver that didn't see the field as much. Favre should have lobbied for more playing time for Beebe. He got a few more targets but not as much as he should have gotten. He would have probably had well over 1,000 yards that season if he had the same role the entire season as he did in that one game.

Otherwise hes a great qb, I think probably a little French heritage, Favre is a Cajun name but he pronounces it wrong

Tamme is another guy who should be playing wide receiver yet was pushed into his racially acceptable position. Can't have too many white receivers in the NFL on any given year.

Yeah he looks great. Great moves to get himself open. The Houston afroletes were burned big time.

I think one of the commentators even made a comment to the effect that he was a WR playing TE.

Just checked the CF FF site to see if I could get him...you @$^!@$!Edited by: DWFan

Once again the sumo dominated OL are exposed as frauds. The Houston sumo infested OL is allowing non-stop pressure on their QB.

Also, is Michael Hart taller than Woodhead? He looks pretty short, yet not one reference to his size from the announcers. Comparing that with the non-stop references to Woodhead's size, we can see the double standards.

"somehow" i anticipated Tamme playing well if he got a chance, so is it wrong to quote myself?

forthose who didn't get the chance to watch Jacob Tamme play college ball, i'll summarize his attributes. he's a wide receiver playing tight end, which is likely the reason he's gotten so little run with the Colts thus far in his career. he's never been much of a blocker, but having an athlete like him block has always seemed like a waste to me anyway.

while playing for Kentucky, he won just about every award a tight end can whilst setting numerous records along the way. to note just a couple, he was a two-time first-team All-SEC tight end and was the SEC Scholar Athlete of the Year as a senior.

from a purely physical standpoint, he is 6-3, 236 (at that size, you can see why i don't consider him to be a true tight end) and if i recall correctly he ran a 4.58 at the Combine.

like so many White athletes, Tamme is a potentially dominant player who has just needed an opportunity.

for the Colts, Wayne has not looked good at all. for the Texans, the same can be said about Walter. he doesn't look like himself ... i wonder if he's playing through an injury, because he's not running like he normally does. and his routes have not looked crisp.

Blair White has looked very good returning punts, but i've not seen him on the field on offense ... i wonder why he's not getting reps?

similarly, i've not seen Anderson for the Texans. have i just missed him or is he injured or what?Edited by: Jimmy Chitwood

Yes, that was a Monday Night Game** when Beebe went wild. Instead of that being a launching pad for Don to finally become a starter, Green Bay soonbrought in the "troubled' Andre Rison from Jacksonville after week 10and Favre openly praised Rison up-and-down and targetedhim much more than Beebe -- who soonbecame an afterthought and retired the next season because Favre made him so irrelevant.

This is in contrast to Troy Aikman, who I like much more than Favre. I remember how hard Aikman tried to get owner Jerry Jones to sign a young, unkown kid named Patrick Jeffers. Aikman told the media he thought Jeffers could not only play well for Dallas, but start. He would also always tell Madden and Summerall that he wished Caste-Clown Switzer would eventually "turn loose the Moose"....He meant actually giving his all-pro fullback, who came into the league as a power-tailback, more carries. I don't remember Favre ever suggesting a athletic freak like Travis Jervey should get more time at tailback. Perhaps I'm wrong, as that was a while back?

Overall, my biggest beef against Favre was when he flopped on the field in order to give Mark Gastineau's coveted sack record toMike Strahan, who is beloved by the media, but is reportedly just a miserable person -- treats everyone around him like garbage, particularly after rumors surfaced that he had a gay lover in Hollywood. That Favre dive against the Giants still tugs at me as classless and clueless.

watching Mike Hart run, i am reminded so much of Brock Forsey. Forsey (like Hart) was a tailback who didn't have blazing speed (although, if i recall correctly, Forsey was actually a bit faster) but he had excellent patience, always seemed to make the good cutback to kill over-pursuing defenses, and had a knack for picking up yards/falling forwardafter contact. yet, despite leading the nation in scoring and setting numerous school records at Boise State, Forsey was little more than an afterthought to NFL general managers. meanwhile, Hart has had a solid career with the Colts.

the difference, of course, is that Hart is a gifted"afflete" while Forsey (according to Hatie Smith)looked more like a team manager. nope, there's no double standard at all. the best players always play, and talent is all that matters.

Anthony Gonzales is having a very nice game. I wish they would play Blair White more though. Does anyone know when Austin Collie will be back?

The Great Duane Brown!.. You big dummy!

Overall, the game was absolutely unwatchable to me, especially considering all the hype leading up to the game.
