Dickson named to Mackey watch list

Jul 29, 2009 at 9:01 pm
The Nassau County (N.Y.) Sports Commission announced Wednesday that LSU tight end Richard Dickson has been selected to the 2009 John Mackey Award preseason watch list, presented annually to the nation's top collegiate tight end.

Dickson goes into his senior season with a shot at breaking every receiving record in school history for a tight end. In 39 games, he's caught 69 passes for 795 yards and 10 TDs. The 10 TD receptions tie with Brad Boyd for the most in school history, while his 69 receptions is the fourth-highest total and the 795 yards is the fifth most in school history.

Kerry meier is a lot like Jordy Nelson, Jordan shipley is a lot like welker apparently. Every white athlete must be compared to another white guy. Its so ridiculous.

"Matt Jones is a lot like Brandon Stokely.
Drew bennett reminds me of wes welker"

Good Heavens!

Chris that is in the Caste speak 101 code book.

Here are five cardinal rules that "experts", announcers, and writers use.

1.Every white WR must be compared to another white WR no matter how stupid the comparison.

2.If a white WR defies the best efforts of the caste system to get rid of him and performs well, they must be called overachievering, high-motor, lucky, sticky-handed, gritty, a team player, a possesion receiver, or described has having "deceptive speed."

3. In no circumstances should a white WR be compared to a black WR. The exception is if the white WR has a small issue. Then, the issue may be blown up out of proportion, and he may be compared to players like Chris Henry.

4. If a white WR makes a great play, never give him credit. The credit goes to the QB, or the WR got lucky.

5. Never call a black DB bad in coverage against a white WR, unless the black DB is absolutly horrible and/or there is no avoiding discussing it (unless the white WR beats said black DB consistently.)

Here are some more examples I've seen and read.

Eric Morris is Wes Welker.
Austin Collie is a Brandon Stokely clone.
Greg Camarillo is like Wayne Chrebet.
David Anderson is an overachiever of the highest level to get to the slot WR position.
Jerehme Urban isn't very talented, but still takes away PT from Early Ducet for some unknown reason.
Danny Amendola plays like Wes Welker.
Mike Furrey is a overachiever and has sticky fingers.
Kevin Curtis has that "deceptive speed."
Walter is a "gritty" overachiever.
Camarillo may not be the most talented guy in the world, but that "deceptive speed," enabled him to beat the Ravens in OT, giving the Dolphins their first win.
Riley Cooper is like Wes Welker out there.
Anthony Gonzalaz is another Brandon Stokley for the Colts.

Saw an anonymous comment from James on the Draftdaddy poll.

I was initially shocked when I saw Sharp in 4th place in this poll, it seems high as of now. However, if you base this on what he might do this yr. with a full season as the starter & his improved running instincts, his speed & agility will have him do great things. 20 RBs were drafted last yr.- here would be my top 20:

1. C.J Spiller (should really break out with James Davis gone- he's a freak athlete)
2. Toby Gerhart (a faster version of Charles Scott who posted nearly identical stats with little passing threat to complement him. He carried the ball 70% of the time on 1st down- used uncreatively)
3. LeGarrette Blount (speed isn't a great asset, but has a burst, good vision, runs through arm tackles & posts elite YPC)
4. Stafon Johnson (quick, agile, elite YPC)
5. Chris Brown (productive splitting time with Murray- can be a workhorse)
6. Cedric Scott (speed could hurt him, but tough with good vision for the cutback lane & is productive- has a solid burst)
7. Jake Sharp (loads of athleticism, I predict he'll break out big time this yr. if very average o-line doesn't hurt him- similar to Spiller in many ways)
8. James Starks (haven't seen much of him, but from what I've seen & read this guy is a great AP threat)
9. Keiland Williams (very good athlete with great speed & agility, but plays behind Scott- may be the better NFL prospect)
10. Lonyae Miller (good rushing YPC, but hasn't been used as a receiving back)
11. Brandon Minor (a slower version of Gerhart-might be more comparable to Cedric Scott- but less productive than these two- has to prove his fumbling is behind him- should have good yr. if offense clicks)
12. Anthony Dixon (IMO this guy is overrated- he hasn't produced a good YPC & is probably slower than advertised, but he has good size and strength)
13. Ben Tate (Auburn isn't all that good anymore- Tate has the tools though)
14. Michael Smith (very undersized, but that hasn't stopped MJD, Danny Woodhead or Darren Sproles- Smith must add a little weight, but he's a shifty speed demon with good production)
15. Andre Anderson (underrated- enough said)
16. Andre Dixon (speed could hurt him, but this guy can be a bullish workhorse)
17. MiQuale Lewis (undersized, but this guy is a speed freak & is productive)
18. Keith Toston (underrated- he has produced a good YPC when he's gotten a chance and has the tools for much more)
19. Javarris James (overrated, he isn't a freak athlete & hasn't had a good yr. since he was a freshman)
20. Joique Bell (he's the best small school back me thinks)

Underrated UFAs who "should" find a career in the NFL if given the chance:
21. Matt Asiata (he isn't fast, but ran for almost 5 YPC last year & is posed to break out)
22. Kevin Harris (this guy continues to be Wake Forest's best back. He's had the best YPC on the team the 2 years he carried the most in his career & absolutely saved Wake in their bowl game last season (Pendergrass & Adams haven't shown anything). The best H.S prep back in central Florida- Harris posted the 25th best Nike SPARQ rating in the entire country)
23. Daniele Dufrene (underrated, athletic & posed to break out for Illinois)
24. Jared Hawkins (the raw athleticism is certainly there, but he plays for maybe the worst offense in the SEC- so his production has been fairly pedestrian- he was a top H.S back in Texas)
25. William Ford (the 2nd best small school back IMO)
26. Trevyn Smith (the 3rd best small school back IMO)
27. Montario Hardesty (a top H.S back who hasn't done much in the FBS, he's received little carries- the talent is there)
27. Cordera Eason (has the talent, but has been hurt playing for a weak team in the SEC like Hawkins)
28. Eugene Jarvis (only 5'5-he has raw speed & athleticism & production to go with it-an undrafted FA contract sounds low risk for this possible role player)
29. Roy Upchurch (top H.S back could break out.)
30. Reggie Arnold (top H.S back excels in the Sunbelt)

Note: I see Brandon James as a return specialist and Trindon Holliday as a WR.

If this guy James is aware of the caste system as he appears to be- he is doing a good job of not plugging "every single" deserving white player. Maybe he realizes that things haven't changed enough to prop up every good white player without being labeled a white supremacist. So James if you've checked out Castefootball please come out and declare yourself!

Yeah I agree, McCarty is likely in the top 30 RBs, but he's not as good as Trevyn Smith. We'll see which players step up to the plate this year. Remember these aren't my rankings these are some anonymous James guy's rankings. My name is Ryan.

Here is where the comment is located:
http://answers.polldaddy.com/poll/1797030/?view=results

James has 5 white RBs in his top 30, but if he would have had say 2 more unheard of whites (or 7 out of 30) Al Sharpton and Obama might be screaming "James is a racist". Hanging with the Footballsfutureisdark crowd is for idiots anyway. Come out in full force against the real "racists" James. So if you are here at CF- please identify yourself- no need to hide under a rock if you agree with us James.

Rivals is definitely having an effect with their white loathing fanatic rankings. They fanatically have ZERO white WRs in their entire top 100. That means they want college football to be an 100% black affair other than at o-line, QB and TE. And it's only because it would be impossible to convince DWFs to get rid of Caucasians at the aforementioned three.

Here's proof whiterivals.com is having an effect. NFLdraftscout seems to have lost their entire spinal vertebra. They rank two white WRs in their top 100 for 2013 (John Cole at #47 and Mitch Burroughs at #80). So if Rivals can continue to influence NFLdraftscout- we can expect zero white WR starters for the future in the NFL- actually zero white WRs period in the NFL because NFLdraftscout influences hype a great deal.

NFLdraftscout only started doing H.S senior rankings since last recruiting class. This is extremely unfortunate since they can't think for themselves.

I posted James' rankings from the DD poll, so here are my rankings:

When you count UFAs, 35 total rookie RBs will get contracts after the draft. These are my early top 35 senior rankings. I will use James comments from the DD poll that he posted, b/c my rankings would be pretty similar.

1. C.J Spiller (He's poised to have a huge year with James Davis gone- he's a freak athlete. He might benefit from adding 7-10 lbs. of muscle as he's a little thin framed at only 195 lbs. at 5'11)
2. Toby Gerhart (A faster version of Charles Scott. He posted nearly identical stats to Scott- with a poor passing offense to balance the attack at Stanford. He carried the ball 70% of the time on 1st down and was used uncreatively. He is California's all time career H.S rushing leader)
3. LeGarrette Blount (Speed isn't a great asset, but has a burst, good vision, runs through tackles & posts an elite YPC)
4. Jake Sharp (He has loads of athleticism- recently ran a 4.28 40, I predict he'll break out big time this year, if average o-line doesn't hurt him. He's similar to Spiller in many ways- a little undersized, but not as much as some other prospects- could use adding 7-10 lbs. of muscle at only 190 lbs. at 5'10, but runs stronger than his size. He's a great receiving threat and has shown pretty good production in a tough conference. This ranking might be a little high as of now, but wait until the end of this season and you'll be on the same page as me. Sharp ran for 3,300 yards as H.S senior on 10.8 YPC and has run a 10.4 second 100 meters before!)
5. Chris Brown (Productive splitting time with Murray- he has the bulk and athleticism to be a workhorse type back)
6. Charles Scott (Speed could hurt him, but he's tough with good vision for the cutback lane & he's productive- has a solid burst)
7. Stafon Johnson (Quick, agile and impressive with his YPC)
8. James Starks (I haven't seen much of him, but from what I've seen & read this guy is a great AP threat and he has size and the athletic tools for the NFL level.)
9. Lonyae Miller (Good rushing YPC and he's very quick, but he hasn't been used as a receiving back)
10. Keiland Williams (A very good athlete with good speed, power & agility, but plays behind Scott- he may be the better NFL prospect though)

2nd tier Draft pick worthy:
11. Andre Anderson (Underrated- a well rounded talent)
12. Anthony Dixon (IMO this guy is overrated- he hasn't produced a good YPC & is probably slower than advertised, but he has good size and strength and plays for a lousy team)
13. Ben Tate (Auburn isn't all that good anymore- Tate has the tools though and is better than his stats indicate)
14. Michael Smith (Very undersized at 5'7 at only 176 lbs, he'd be best to add 10 lbs, but being short hasn't stopped MJD, Danny Woodhead or Darren Sproles. Smith is a shifty little speed demon with good production)
15. Brandon Minor (A less explosive and less productive version of Gerhart- might be more comparable to Charles Scott- but less productive than both- has to prove his fumbling is behind him. He should have a good year if the offense clicks)
16. MiQuale Lewis (He's very undersized at 5'6, but he does have bulk at 195 lbs. Lewis is a speed freak & is productive- he could be a good 15-18 carry a game scatback in the NFL)
17. Keith Toston (Underrated- He has produced a good YPC when he's gotten a chance and has the tools for much more)
18. Kevin Harris (This guy continues to clearly be Wake Forest's best back. He's had the best YPC on the team the 2 years he carried the most in his career & absolutely saved Wake in their bowl game last season (Pendergrass & Adams just haven't produced). The best H.S tailback in central Florida- Harris posted the 25th best Nike SPARQ rating in the entire country, but has yet to see more than 75 carries in a season for the Demon Deacons. He would probably be ranked higher if he would actually be given even 100 carries, but Wake's coach is just a clown.
19. C.J Gable (Posted good YPC for USC and is a solid all round athlete)
20. Joique Bell (He's the best small school back me thinks- he has size and runs strong with a no nonsense north-south style and has been EXTREMELY productive in division II)

Priority undrafted UFAs who deserve a chance at the NFL level:
21. Javarris James (Overrated, his athleticism for an NFL tailback is probably below average & he hasn't had a good year since he was a freshman. He can be a workhorse, but gets too much hype for being Edgerrin's cousin and playing for the U)
22. Trevyn Smith (The 2nd best small school back IMO- has some similarity (in running style) to Auburn's Tre Smith IMO- albeit a little less agile, but stronger than Tre)
23. Matt Asiata (He isn't fast, but ran for almost 5 YPC last year & is poised to break out)
24. Jared Hawkins (He's a very impressive athlete, but he plays for maybe the worst offense in the SEC. His production has been fairly pedestrian (he's underused), but he's shown some signs- he had a very good career as a H.S RB in Texas)
25. Daniele Dufrene (Underrated, athletic & poised to break out for Illinois)
26. William Ford (My 3rd best small school back- he's undersized- he should probably add 10-15 lbs of muscle at 5'10 185 lbs- but he's very explosive.)
27. Andre Dixon (Speed could hurt him, but this guy can be a north-south bullish workhorse and wear you down- his production hasn't really "stood out" at Connecticut and he doesn't appear to stand out in the explosiveness department either)
28. David McCarty (My 4th best small school back. He's very light framed at only 190 lbs. at 6 foot, but this guy has an elite burst and has an impressive gliding/ slashing style. He's been very productive in the FCS too. If he can't add weight- he could still be a complimentary 12-15 carry scatback in the NFL or he could maybe try playing WR)
29. Eugene Jarvis (5'5 is very small and he's only 173 lbs, but Jarvis is a VERY explosive athlete and has production to go with it. An undrafted FA contract sounds low risk for this possible role player. If he can't add 10-12 lbs, I doubt he can be much more than a situational player who gets maybe 12-15 carries a game AT MOST)
30. Montario Hardesty (A top H.S back who hasn't done much in the FBS yet, as he's received little carries, but the talent is there)

Low priority UFAs:
31. Reggie Arnold (Top H.S back excels in the Sunbelt- he's more athletic than scouting reports give him credit for and has good tailback vision)
32. Brandon West (He has good speed and is productive in the MAC, but he didn't run strong when I watched highlights of him, He's a bit undersized at only 190 lbs. at 5'10)
33. David Sinisi (My 5th small school back. Compared to your typical draft worthy NFL tailback prospect- Sinisi is a little slow and his overall agility is very average - but he's a very determined runner. He has been very productive in the FCS and makes the first guy miss very well at that level. He is no nonsense- and does make a very quick first cut with a burst to the hole- has a one cut and go style. He also has good instincts. He caught 29 balls as a sophomore, but only 14 last year. He will need to catch more balls- to prove his versatility- to move up my rankings, but he could be a potential powerback/ role player. He has some bulk at 5'10 205 lbs, but may need to add 10-15 lbs. while maintaining his speed for a Powerback role)
34. Jameson Konz (Kent State is moving him to H-back this year after playing TE last year and LB in 2007. I like this move. Konz is 6'3 227 lbs. and runs a 4.43 40-a 4.38 by some accounts. His size, speed and competitiveness are intriguing as an NFL prospect. He has never played much tailback (even in H.S), but he has the tools to be a match up nightmare at either H-Back or playing true tailback in the NFL. I predict he shows his versatility this season and moves up my rankings)
35. Roy Upchurch (I predict a breakout season for this top H.S back- he should move up my rankings)

I'll edit to add stats tomorrow for all my ranked RBs (last 2 years and only if they received 75 carries or more).

Keiland Williams is a tap dancer. I didn't see "power" from him when I watched LSU last year.

I thought we were fighting against the "hype" from the "recruiting services?"

If Keiland kicks everyone's asses this year, I will promptly shut up, but until then he has A LOT to prove.

You're right, Keiland doesn't run with a powerful "style", but I have seen him run through arm tackles when I've watched him before when he can't elude the tackler. As an athlete he is very talented. I think as far as measurables he will test out with- AT LEAST- solid speed. He will show outstanding quickness and agility and show some power in the bench press. The NFL combine doesn't test the squat, but I think Williams would be impressive there as well.

Wow, I just realized I'm in the Castefootball HOF- 3,000 posts- and it took me less than 3 years!

There are several small school whites that are getting noticed. Danny Batten and Austen Lane are two very athletic DE's who could play OLD in a 3-4 scheme. Derek Hardman and Jared Veldheer are two very athletic Tackle prospects. Pat Simonds is a 6'6 220 Wideout who has great body control and who i think could run in the 4.5 range. Here is a link of some other guys black and white to check out. http://www.jbscouting.com/index.php/blog/243-early-season-top-10

Overhyped afflete LT Bruce Campbell from the Terps declares for the NFL draft. Despite having a injury plagued season and not being productive, the prospect is a sure bet to have the "potential" NFL scouts all look for!
