Harrison does stand out as a lot stronger and fiercer than the average black LB. I kind of like the guy, as he plays hard, eschews the media spotlight, and evendissed Obama when the team was invited to the White House. But he has that all-too-common other sideas well-- domestic violence, drama queen, etc.

Harrison was a juvenile delinquent in high school (and still is), which is why he played at Kent State. He went undrafted and actually played in NFL Europe. He was cut several times by the Steelers and once by the Ravens. So until the past 2-3 seasons, he hasn't really been pampered (unlike most of his brethren). I did enjoy his total disregard for Barry O's and Bush's White House invitations. Edited by: Thrashen

Dan Dierdorf just couldn't stop criticizing the play of Doug Legursky in the first half. Dierdorf obviously didn't do his homework or he would've known Legursky was gutting it out on a knee with a sprained ligament. And no, Dierdorf, Legursky is not filling in for immobile sumo Trai Essex. Legursky is the starter.

With Aaron Smith out most or all of the remainder of the season, and Brett Keisel struggling with a hamstring injury, now we get word that the Steelers are reneging on their preference for Doug Legursky at one of the OG positions, meaning sumo Trai Essex will start this weekend.

The Steelers will have only three regulars on offense on the field.

Come to think of it, I can vote early and not watch the Steelers this weekend.

I'm more interested in what Hillis, Woodhead et al. are doing anyway.

This just in, Steelers offense much better with return of sumo. Mendenhall had plenty of running room thanks to this tub of lard.

Steelers RG Trai Essex (ankle) returned to the starting lineup Sunday night, as expected.
<div ="s_pNewsTextMain">
Doug Legursky headed back to the bench after filling in for the
previous four games. Rashard Mendenhall averaged 4.7 yards per carry in
Week 8, his best rate since Week 3.

Yeah right. Steelers sumo-infested OL was a joke. How many times did Big Ben have time to throw the ball to his receivers, instead of scrambling and running away from defenders?

The Steelers also clearly missed Aaron Smith and Brett Keisel on the d-line. Their replacements, first round bust in the making "Ziggy" Hood, and Nick Eason, each managed the herculean feat of 0 tackles and 1 assist for the game as Drew Brees went 20 of 22 passing in the second half.

Chris Hoke, the backup nose tackle, made a big play stuffinga runat the goal line during one of his few plays. Meanwhile, the "beloved" huffin' and puffin' morbidly obese starter, Casey Hampton, achieved 2 whole tackles for the game, one of which elicited lavish praise from Crissy Collinsworth for the somehow"perennial Pro Bowler." I'll still never understand why Hampton has made five Pro Bowls in his career. He comes into camp every year extremely out of shape and unmotivated. This season he has a whopping six tackles in six starts. Not exactly Pro Bowl numbers. Last season was the sumos best year with career highs in tackles(43) and sacks(2.5). The guy is a lower, plain and simple.

Most ignorant DWF's will say that Hampton doesn't need to put up big tackle numbers to be effective, he just clogs things up so that the LBs can make plays, and he's the bomb diggity. By comparison, though, look at the numbers that Kyle Williams from the Bills has this year. Here is an athletic, strong NT that had 6 tackles, 3 assists and 2 sacks against the Chiefs this week. If it weren't for him and Paul Pozlusky (and Donte Whitner, to be fair), the Bills would have been blown out.

As I expected:

The Steelers were set to start the season with a mediocre-at-best, sumo line before Willie Colon got hurt. Now with Max Starks out too, the team is completely inept at OT, and both OG are poor.

The Patriots started an all-white, athletic, strong, disciplined line that got the better of the Steelers' D.

The Steelers are a shell of what they were most of the first half of the season without Aaron Smith and Brett Keisel. Ziggy Hood and Nick Eason are embarrassing. It's interesting how the LBs just aren't as good without the two standout DEs.

Now in his fourth season, Mike Tomlin has brought in only a few useful players. His sometimes success has depended greatly on the use of Bill Cowher's players-as has been pointed out many times before by myself and others on CF.

I can see another second half swoon for the Steelers, followed by the realization next year that the team is old at too many spots, or simply not talented enough, like on the O-line.

Unless the Steelers get both Smith and Keisel back before the playoffs, and try Legursky and someone else from outside the organization at G/T, they will go nowhere this year again.

Knowing the draft history of Tomlin and Kevin Colbert, their solution will probably be to trade Big Ben, draft Cam Newton, and pick some other coal-black sumos from the SEC to man the lines.

It would have to be a toss up between Hatie Smiff and Uncle Tomlin in terms of who displays the best vacuous, mask face during games. What I mean is both these dolts look as if they are channel surfing or walking the isles of Walmart, rather than coaching an NFL game.By their appearance, there is no sentient signs at all as they silently stand on the sidelines with ear pieces listening to others coach for them.

No play calling, no strategy changing, nothing.

In the day and age of a million coaches for each job, perhaps the "head coach" is nothing more than a motivator for the affletes and a face for the franchise. In that case Tomlin is perfect as the affletes will play for him and he satisfies the Rooney Rule as well.

I loved that when he said they lack quickness. The Patriots with their 5 white men looked very different in terms of physique and performance.

Of course Crissy Collinsworth talked later about how well Mike Vick and Vince Young were playing....

It's great fun watching black defensive players become injury prone as soon as the media begins hyping them in a big way. Mike Brown, Ed Reed, Bob Sanders, all ridiculously fragile. This season, "Revis Island" has pulled a hammy in one leg and now the other.

Troy Polamalu has been injury prone for years, this is just the latest installment:

Achilles injury could sideline Polamalu for rest of regular season

No need to start a new thread here,as Pittsburgh DWF's are so intertwined with the Steelers, but they started tailgating at dawn, for a 4:30 p.m. start!,no need to say how many made fools of themselves either, but the MSM played down what was evident, reporting,"the fan loyalty to the team is refreshing"! Aaron Smith might be ready to play this weekend.

On a down note-no surprise, though-I noticed the other day the Steelers signed six players to futures contracts, and all of them are black.

We'll see if Tomlin and Colbert draft one white player this year.
