Colts vs. Packers: The Good, The Bad, and The Downright Dreadful

The Good



Pierre Garçon: After a mysterious injury which led to the emergence of Collie as a real option for number two on the depth chart, Garçon returned to his usual form with a couple of explosive catches in conjunction with a couple of drops. While the drops are frustrating, they are not out of the ordinary for him and so will not count against him. He played very well, especially after missing training camp and the first two preseason games. He finished the night with two catches for 42 yards.

It's amazing that they can write this stuff with a straight face. In other words, two dropped passes, which probably resulted in the team having to punt, are okay, as long as there are a couple of "explosive"catches to "make up for it". In a sane world, a team would instead take four "pedestrian" catches to keep the chains moving. And what exactly do they mean by "explosive catches", anyway? That he "looked good" making the two catches?

I've noticed that "explosive" and "explosion" are being usedquite a bitduring preseason games this year, for black players only of course. Seems to have surpassed "electric" in Caste-ese for the time being anyway, while"athletic" remains the favorite racist code word for black football players.

Chad Kackert ended up being the leading rusher in the last Blacksonville preseason game against the Falcons. He had 46 yards on 10 carries with a long run of 15 yards. He's looked very good for the Jags this preseason, and has that WSTD dynamic as well. Of course, hell might freeze over if he makes Black Jack Del Rio's squad.

Was wondering if Kackert may land on the practice squad?? Will Blacksonville allow him on the 53 man roster when they already have Bolen; who BTW scored on a 16 yard TD! Also wondering about undrafted rookie LB Jacob Cutrera who had a fumble recovery who is battling for a spot!

Ryan Wolfe led the Falcons 3rec-55yds...Bergeron had 3-36 + a 9 yard carry....Strickland 4-38

Blair White had 7 receptions for 132 yards!

Danny Woodhead had over 40 yards and 1 nice rushing TD, check out his highlight on nfl.com! great balance and speed.

and how about Brett Swain's 6 for 130 !!

defensively Matt Kroul had a great game, so did Sean Lee.

Mariani had 1 catch for 41 yards.

Corey Lynch had 2 interceptions including one returned for a 91 yard TD!!!

What a game by Brett Swain and Blair White. It just makes me sick how many exceptional white wide receivers along with other position players only get garbage time at best. There is no doubt in my mind that many of these fine athletes could be pro bowlers if only given the same opportunities that others get. Mike Hass is only one of hundreds of examples over the past 3-4 decades! Edited by: white lightning

Just a few additional guys who stood out yesterday.

-LB Rob Ninkovich has 7 tkls, 3 of which for losses and a sack
-S Chris Reis lead with 8 tkls
-FB/RB John Kuhn had 5 carries for 20 yards which was a team leading 4.0 yards per carry
-LB Chris Chamberlain had an into he returned for 83 yards
-LB Pat Angerer had 12 tkls
-WR Sam Giguere had 3 catches for 53
-TE Garrett Graham had 4 catches for 66
-LB Bobby Carpenter had 4 tkls, 1 of which was for a loss, a sack and a pass defended
-WR Max Komar had 1 catch for 34 yards and returned kicks and punts

The true stars though were the aforementioned Decker, Swain, White, Kroul, Lee, Casey and Lynch

A few predictions:
-Pat Angerer will start at one of the linebacker positions by the end of the season. He is a beast.
-Max Komar will make the Cards roster
-Blair White will make the Colts roster
-John Kuhn will get some play as the power back over loser Brandon Jackson
-Corey Lynch will get screwed over by Raheem
-Kevin Jurovich will make the practice squad for SF

Angerer has been amazingly good right from the get-go. After he was drafted virtuallyall the punditssaid the Colts reached in taking him in the second round and that he would be a special teamer and backup to Gary Brackett. He should at the very least replace the awful Phillip Wheeler on the outside this season. Unfortunately Brackett just got a contract extension and is a "beloved and revered" black overachiever so Angerer may not be able to start in the middle for a while barring another Brackett injury even though he's an obvious tackling machine.
