Francisco Liriano started the season hot (and the media went crazy), but it looks like he's falling back "down to earth" now.

With all the media-hype over the years, one would think that Liriano now has 100 career wins now, right? Maybe 75? 50?

NO, he ONLY has 30! Yes, 30 wins.

Sure, he may have some ability to K opponents, but he's not the Superman that the media tried to make him out to be. Also, over the years, it's clear that the hitters' have made the necessary adjustments. I'm really happy that Justin Verlander won yesterday!

Keep your eye on Kershaw of the Dodgers. He may very well be the next real big pitcher in the NL.

Liriano's won more than 6 games in a season just once, and has zero complete games for his career. Now that's quality pitching!

Add Chone Figgins to the lazy ass afflete/affletito list with B.J. Upton and Hanley Ramirez this year who disrespect the game of baseball with their lollygagging on the field.

I have seen Jay Bruce and Drew Stubbs of the Reds a bunch of times this year and they definitely deserve mention as a couple of the top young OFs in the game at the plate and with their speed and athleticism in the field.

They've got a ways to go to be sure to reach their potential, but they are tremendously talented players.

I think you are referring to this incident that happened yesterday: http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/blog/big_league_stew/post/Mariners-fight-each-other-in-dugout-after-manage?urn=mlb-257931

Well, the Mariners, like the Pirates, the Cubs, etc. are getting what they deserve. If you put together teams based upon "Affirmative Action" policies, then you'll get "Affirmative Action" results...with the requisite TNB from the likes of Figgins as described in the article.

Looks like the Yankees are getting Whiter, adding Lance Berkman, Austin Kearns, and now I'm hearing they're trying to get Kerry Wood, too.

This has got to be the most Affirmative Action year, ever, in the Majors...

So much AWFUL middle-relief. So many AWFUL, no-name hitters.

Why is Luis Valbuena still getting ABs? Andy Marte? Asdrubal Cabrera? The Indians' have sold their souls down the Latino abyss! They, and many others, AREN'T superior to American ball-players, not even close!

The Reds' are a veritable White paradise compared to their in-state rivals, and they are competitive. I wonder why..?? Joey Votto is having a magical season. Scott Rolen has been a very nice addition. Stubbs' has contributed.

Joey Votto currently leads the NL in batting with a .322 average and in homers with 27. He's 4th in RBIs, 9 behind the leader, Ryan Howard who was just placed on the DL. Winning the Triple Crown, which hasn't been done in the NL since 1937, is very much within reach. Edited by: Don Wassall

The Dodgers' acquistions of Podsednik and Theriot should really help their chances of getting to the postseason, especially if they keep Manny Ramirez on the DL or ship him out.

Podsednik's next SB will be 300 for his career. (How many more would he have without the leg injuries?)

Don's comments above about Votto and Howard are spot on. Right after the All-Star break, the first thing that damn Joe Morgan wanted to talk about on a Sunday broadcast was how Ryan Howard should've been an All-Star, even in front of Joey Votto.

In a surprising move, the LA Angels have moved longtime center fielder and jerk Torii Hunter to right field to make room for speedy white rookie Peter Bourjos in center.

Considering that top prospect Mike Trout is also a fast, white outfielder, the Angels may have a dramatically different-looking outfield from years past sooner rather than later.Edited by: PhillyBirds

Brandon Morrow of the Blue Jays just misses a no-hitter, settling for a one-hit shutout against the Rays.

It should be noted that Morrow was one out away from achieving the feat as well as racking up 17 strikeouts in the process!!

I thought Cincinnati Reds' Joey Votto should get some love. At .323, 29 HR and 86 RBI, he is leading the NL in batting avg., 2nd in RBI and 3rd in HRs. Not to mention 1st in runs scored and OBP, 2nd in slugging. He and Pujols both have a shot at the triple crown. Not bad for a guy making $525,000.

Speaking of the phenomenal Joey Votto, I think its time we show some proper love to the Cincinnati Reds. They start 6 of 8 whites in the field, 3 of 5 starting pitchers and all 6 of their outfielders are white! Oh yea and by the way, the Reds lead the National League scoring 4.94 runs per game. Here's the roster:

C Ramon Hernandez, Ryan Hanigan
1B Joey Votto
2B Brandon Phillips
SS Paul Janish
3B Scott Rolen
RF Jay Bruce
CF Chris Heisey
LF Jonny Gomes
OF Laynce Nix, Drew Stubbs, Jim Edmonds
INF Miguel Cairo

Jim Edmonds was just placed on the DL and replaced by white SS/2B Chris Valaika.

SP Bronson Arroyo, Johnny Cueto, Homer Bailey, Edinson Volquez, Travis Wood (Jimmy Chitwood's buddy!!)

I will be pulling for this team to win the Central. I also hope the STL Cardinals win the wild card. A Reds/Cardinals NL Championships Series would be really enjoyable to watch.

Toronto Blue Jay Jose Bautista leads the major leagues with 42 home runs. His previous career high was 16 back in 2006. And, he's Dominican - they've had their share of 'roiders. To be fair, I've never watched him play and I don't know anything else. Maybe he's just having a great year.

Something stinks. Years from know when he is busted for steroid use he will still have the home run title and the millions in contracts that he will sign for.

I agree completely on Jose Bautista. I think he looks bigger than before and no one, and I mean no one, legitimately goes from a UT type hitting around 15 HRs a few times in his career to suddenly making a run at 50.

Congratulations to Trevor Hoffman on 600 career saves!

As with Jim Thome and his pursuit of 600 HRs, Hoffman has never gotten the credit he deserves, but this is par for the course.

Tulowitzki with another great game today...3 for 5 with two bombs and 4 RBIs. He's on a tear.

He's a very streaky player, but add it all up at the end of the season and he's a tremendous talent.

Matt Holliday is playing very strong - right now - as well.

Roy Halladay is pitching lights-out and has 19 wins. Jon Lester has 17 wins and 208 Ks.

Whites' can ball, for sure, but some of the teams just need more of them...

Lester should no doubt be in the Cy Young debate in the AL but for some reason the MSM only mentions Price and CC as this years possible winner...
