the italians did really well in the mens 4 x 100. Checcuci, their "slow" man not in the individual sprints made Mbandjock work really hard. He runs sub 10.10 and Checcuci lost about 2.5 metres on him so he's a pretty fair sprinter. Butr the Italian changes were for the most part really well executed. They are a well drilled outfit.

Really pleased for Personneaux, Lemaitre's training partner, too. He held onto finalist Di Gregorio well. I thought he replaced Pognon only for the heats but maybe he works so well with Lemaitre that they left him there for the final.
They had safe slow changes to run that 38.11 so this team is potentially a 37s outfit.
And good for the Germans too after they had some pretty ordinary individual performances. Lead-off runner Unger looked to run above his individual form.

Pity the poor Polish back straight runner who Lemaitre looked to pull in 5 metres from.

The Italian NR is now tied with the Australian record at 38.17 (phew! glad they didn't beat it)Edited by: mastermulti

I think they would have beat France (and the Aussie record) if Fabio Cerutti had not been injured.

Krasnov reminds me a lot of Andrew Rock. Their running styles are similar, and their racing styles are similar.
Rock always went out moderately, but was one of the fast finishers coming off the curb.
He was a speed endurance type of 400m runner, and he was a silver medalist at the WC behind Wariner.

I dont know anything about Krasnov's pure speed, but he impressed me with his closing speed in the heats and the finals. If he can become as good as Rock was, that would be great!Edited by: jacknyc
