Russia produces so many fast White women, but where are the men? i don't understand that.

the two Russians in the first 200 semifinal were head and shoulders the class of the heat.

yet another Russian woman is on to the final in the women's deuce. that makes 3 Russians and a Ukranian. that is dominance by the former USSR.

unfortunately, Emily Freeman didn't qualify for the final. her injuries this year just didn't allow her to show her speed today.

it's just a few moments to the men's 200 final ... Edited by: Jimmy Chitwood

damn, he really struggled on the curve. between slow start and lack of technique on 200, Christophe can easily shave time off and compete with American and Jamaican sprinters. what closing speed!

Lemaitre ran the bend very well in this race ... until the last couple of steps. in those two steps he lost almost all his speed and nearly fell to dead last going into the straightaway. he really had to hit the gas, and he fought himself so much that it almost cost him. his speed saved the day, as his technique completely abandoned him.

all in all, he has so much talent to win despite such a huge struggle. congratulations to The Master for winning the sprint double at just 20 years of age.

3 more Russian women in the 400 final. wow. they go 1-2-3. then there was a Czech (5th) and a Ukranian (6th) in the final, as well.

remember that earlier today,3 Russians and a Ukranian qualified for the final in the 200-meters, as well.

that is completedominance in the longer sprints by the former USSR. but i still don't understand where their male sprinters are ...

just watched a interview with Lemaitre on veetle and I'm starting to wonder if he is autistic? I know his english is bad, but that interview was rough to watch. either way, he's got double gold! i think as long as they don't have any problems with the baton, he will get a 3rd for the 4x1.

how painful it must be for Svoboda ... he had the clear lead but clipped a hurdle and lost it all. that's got to be tough to handle.
meanwhile, Andy Turner maintained his composure and cruised in for the win. not to be forgotten, Kiss snags the bronze.

not to worry, man. in all seriousness, Christophe just began learning English. he mentioned earlier in the week that his most nervous moments preceding the Championships came when he thought about trying to answer interview questions in English. he is quite a sharp lad, as i've seen how composed and articulate he sounds when speaking his native tongue.

i know we've been talking about the lovely German sprinters, but the Russianwomen in nearly every event look pretty good to me. furthermore, is it a requirement that all female pole vaulters be drop dead gorgeous? i mean, seriously!

Yeah man, Russian women are hot!! And what's cool about Slavic women is that they generally don't like blacks.

Congrats to Kevin Borlee. What a recovery. Sad to see Johnathan Borlee and Gillick fade very badly. They were the 2 favorites to win. We took 2 of the 3 medals. Martin Rooney put in a very gutsy perfomance. I think he should have got the silver but a bronze is nice.

the times weresomewhat slower than i expected, but what an exciting race. it was "the other" Borlee, Kevin, who came through at the end to steal the win in a total surprise. meanwhile, places 2-5 were separated by only.05 seconds! what a tight finish, and what a run by Martyn Rooney who takes the bronze out of lane 1. simply amazing.

we all know about Gillick (the first Irishman to ever qualify for the final in the European Championships in the 400 and took 5th), but how about the 19-year old Russian Vladimir Krasnov who finished fourth.

next to Christophe's and Verena's individual performances, that race was the most exciting moment for me so far in the whole Championships.

up next, the women's 400-hurdles.

I still haven't seen the final of the mens 200. Damn the conditions have still been not what we had hoped for. The times are not nearly as fast as we had hoped but overall it's been a hell of a euro champs. So happyfor Andy Turner. To run a 13.29 into that wind is incredible. The Russian Women are tearing it up. Jimmy asked why the men don't perform nearly as well and one of the main reasons it their mandatory military service. I keep hoping that this will change in the future. It seems like with the Russian Men, the only event they seem to care about is the High Jump which they dominate everyone in. Just imagine if they could get more involved in the sprints. They would at least be competetive. Just look at them in boxing.

So sad to see Emily Freeman not make the finals of the 200. She had the same exact time but as the other girl who made it. They must have went to thousands of a second to determine it. She is a such a sweetheart and very talented. I was hoping she would make it.

dang! the Russian women continue to dominate (once again there were 3 Russians and a Czech in the final). what a completely dominant performance by Antyukh. she won by almost a full second in a new Championship and national record!

why don't the Russian men do this?

thanks for sharing this, white lightning. this could very well be the reason. what ages and durations are they required to serve?

it's a broken record ... Russia wins the women's 800. they make 'em hot and fast over in the cold White north.
