Butler punched-their-ticket by defeating Milwaukee!!

And, Villanova lost, in the 1st Round of the Big East Tourny, to lowly South Florida!!

Butler played great against Milwaukee, and beat them handily. Matt Howard had a great game for Butler. I think the Bulldogs had chemistry issues early in the year trying to replace Gordan Hayward, but I think they've turned it on. They're gonna be a dangerous team in the tourney. I really like Center Andrew Smith, he is one heck of a player, especially on the boards. He has a little bit to go yet, but he's certainly has potential.Edited by: Jack Lambert

Notre Dame CRUSHED the Bearcats' of Cameroon... I bet Jay Bilas is really wallowing in self-pity with PITT out and Notre Dame advancing!

Lousville is leading Marqutte 36-31. It's almost at halftime. Kyle Kuric and Mike Marra have been playing well for the Cardinals, with 9 and 11 points respecitivly. Bill Raftery even called Mike Marra athletic after he got some serious air to swat a shot out of play. They gave Kuric his props too. Louisville has been playing with 3 whites on the floor for most of the half, and even put out four whites for the last ten seconds.

As deadlift alluded too, the Irish demolished the Bearcats today, with Ben Hansbrough leading the way with 23 points and 6 assists. Tim Abromaitas had 17 points and 6 rebounds. Too bad if the Cardinals win, they have to play Notre Dame tommorow.

As alluded to above, Notre Dame and Louisville absolutely pulverized their all-Afro competition. Marra finished 1 point off of his career high with 22. In the other game Psycho B was 8-11 from the floor. Is there a more efficient guard in the country?

Jimmer had a poor shooting night but still finished with 24. Up next for BYU is New Mexico whom they have already lost to twice. They really need to redeem themselves with a big win in that one.

The rarely mentioned E.J. Singler (yes he's the brother) had a huge night in the upset of UCLA. E.J. had 24 points, 7 rebounds and 3 steals. The sophomore averaged 11 points per game and almost 6 boards a night this season. Look for him to emerge as a top player in the Pac-10 next season and maybe even in the country. Oregon will have to win the Pac-10 tourney to make the big dance, by the way. In the loss, Reeves Nelson had 7 points and 10 boards. An off night for the young fella who averages 14 and 9. He's also a guy who will be huge next year. Mark my words.Edited by: Freethinker

THUG U went down.. due to SEVERAL clutch-shots by Tyler Zeller! Nolan Smith gets hurt, and Duke then plays even better.. in their win over Maryland. Singler surprised me by scoring 29 points.

Tennessee, who I absolutely loathe, lost to Florida.. but will likely still make the Dance. The WAC Final will be Boise State -vs- Utah State. I'm glad New Mexico State got knocked-out!

Gasp, I thought Mr. Taylor was the best player on the Badger's team and a legit B10 POY Candidate.

As the poster above alluded to, the Louisville Cardinals came back to beat the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. Ben Hansbrough had a pretty off game. Weird how the media says this is Pitino's "least talented team." I guess it's those guys like Kyle Kuric or Mike Marra that make this team his "least talented."

I didn't want to clutter Jimmer's thread to talk about something that should be talked about here.

Could you elaborate about the "hot black teams" in the NCAA? I didn't see anything unusual going on this year during the Conference Tourny portion of the season.

Yeah, Wisconsin choked against PSU, and then Michigan State just utterly-choked against them, too..

The Tar Heels did win a couple of games, against Miami and Clemson, that they probably should have lost.. but I don't think anyone on CF will shed tears for THUG U or Clemson. Maybe Florida and Kentucky are playing better, but they were generally expected to be the top two SEC teams, and, I'm kind of looking forward to watching this SEC Championship game..

A lot of the black teams' that are likely to get "at-large" births to the Dance (VA Tech, K-State, Michigan State, Clemson, Penn State, Cinci, Texas A&M, Missouri) -- probably won't do much damage in the Tourny. Right now, I'm only concerned about the TOP teams' like PITT, Kansas, Texas, UCONN and such. Keep in mind, Ohio State does play Diebler and Craft.. Purdue gives PT to several Whites.. Florida State gives PT to Kreft, Laucks and Dulkys. This Tourny may, in fact, feature MORE White athletes than last year's Tourny!

As far as BYU, I'm personally not sold on them, but we really don't have to put all of our eggs in only a few baskets. Notre Dame will likely get a #2 seed at worst, so they can't be counted-out from making a Tourny run. I do consider Wisconsin to be almost a "mystery" team.. I think they need more passion and need to play uptempo ball.

And, there are several "mid-major" programs (in the Tourny) that have good White players, and, win-or-lose, I can feel good for them and their opportunity. If we don't believe in our athletes, who will? I'm not really worried how the brackets are set-up.. over-the-years, I've noticed that many of the black teams' come out and play really flat/tight. And, a lot of black teams' will simply be cannibalizing other black teams.

on Sunday and called a news conference to discuss the future of the

Pelphrey was 69-59 in four seasons with the Razorbacks, including an
18-13 record this season. Arkansas lost to Tennessee in the opening
round of the Southeastern Conference tournament on Thursday.


Pelphrey replaced Stan Heath as coach of the Razorbacks in 2007-08
and finished 23-12. Arkansas advanced to the NCAA tournament that
season, defeating Indiana before losing to North Carolina.


The Razorbacks struggled in Pelphrey's next two seasons, winning 14
games in each. This season will mark the third straight year Arkansas
will miss the NCAA tournament.


Athletic director Jeff Long said in a statement that a national
search would begin immediately. The school called a 6 p.m. news
conference to address the program's future.


"After a thorough and comprehensive evaluation of our men's
basketball program, including an assessment of the overall
student-athlete experience within our program, it is clear that we have
not made the progress over the last four years that is necessary to
return Razorback basketball to a place of national relevance," Long
said.


Arkansas saw a steady decline in attendance in Pelphrey's four
seasons. The Razorbacks averaged 17,148 in his first season, 16,043 in
his second and 13,182 last year. This season, the school averaged 12,022
in 18 games in the 19,200-seat Bud Walton Arena.


During its national championship season of 1993-94, Arkansas averaged
20,134 at home. This season, the school drew a season-high 14,174 for
its game against Ole Miss in February.


Two weeks ago, following a home loss to Mississippi State that cost
the Razorbacks second place in the SEC West and a bye in the conference
tournament, an advertisement ran in the statewide Arkansas
Democrat-Gazette. The ad called for Razorback fans to contact university
officials "on the future of Arkansas basketball before too much times
passes."


It listed addresses for university officials, including the school's
Board of Trustees members. Pelphrey said at the time he wouldn't be
distracted by the ad. He won't have to worry about it after Sunday.

When Duke had players' like Elton Brand and Sheldon Williams, isn't it interesting that they were "fed the ball?".. but, now, Duke is clearly a "guard-oriented" team (when they have White bigs).. I'm also tired of the "Seth Curry story" -- how this "superhuman" went to Liberty and then transferred to Duke. As for Dawkins, at least he has been with Duke the WHOLE time!

Deadlift, Sorry, I have to disagree a little on this. I don't think Nolan Smith has the ability to consistently find the open man. If you'll recall at the beginning of the season Kyrie Irving was finding the Plumlees down low and they were having big games, especially Mason. Since Irving went down Duke has struggled a little, because they are relying on Smith and Curry too much. Smith is definitely not a true point guard and its taken some time for Duke to figure it out. They played pretty well today. The Plumlees have to be more aggressive as they were today.I love Miles and Mason,they have great athleticism, but they have to use their athleticism to get rebounds and get their shots. I do agree, Nolan hasn't gotten them the ball , but I wouldn't just depend on him to do so.

P.S. I'm no Pegasus, but I want our guys to earn it and I'm calling it the way I see it. We need to be smart,hard, tough,athletic, and aggressive, not relying soley on others to make our way! Thanks.

Sorry again,I missed your other post on K. Irving and N. Smith. You're right, Smith is ball-hogging somewhat and throws up wild shots, again I just don't think he has the ability of Irving. They really miss J. Scheyer, although not a true point guard either, he did an outstanding job of running the Duke Team.

i personally attended several Razorback games this season at Bud Walton Arena, and the above-listed attendance numbers must be based on something other than actual attendance ... of the four/five games i was present for, only one had the stadium appearing to be more than half-filled. on a couple of occasions, the arena was so quiet that you could hear the coaches calling out plays from the sidelines ... and i wasn't exactly sitting near the court, if you catch my meaning.

as an aside, i personally watched two of Pelphrey's vaunted recruits this weekend, and neither looked very good. Hunter Mickelson (the lone White player Pelphrey has recruited since his first year) has obvious talent, but he is weak and played way too soft for my taste. Aaron Ross, a 40-year-old-looking "student" afflete, was so lazy that even the negroes sitting near me were talking about it with frustration. he may be the first-ever championship game MVP (which was a total joke award, by the way, as he wasat bestthe fifth-best player on his team in the game) who didn't break a sweat whilst "competing." i doubt if he jogged the length of the court on more than three occasions, and he walked up the court the rest of the time. i'm not exaggerating. if that was any indication of what he'll do at Arkansas, he's a bum. i liken him to a no-talent version of Marshawn Powell on a bad day.

as for the NCAA Tourney bracket, how the hell was Saint Mary's left out?!?!?!?!

the Gaels had an RPI of 44, accumulated 25 wins, and won the regular season title in the WCC. i mean, what the crap?!?!

I saw a bit of a St. Mary's game a couple weeks ago. Shame they were left out.

JC, I've seen SEC event attendance numbers that seemed to be inflated as well. I'm curious as to how they are calculated. From your description of those two recruits, it sounds like Arkansas isn't going "up" anytime soon.

I hope to catch a few of the more decent (caste-wise) NCAA tourney games over the next couple of weeks.

JC and Colonel it's a shame. I wanted to see if McConnell and Deladova could put on a show and pull out a first round win! Hopefully the Gales continue to recruit and develop white players. They definitely need some big men down low. Omar Samhan was that guy last year and the Gaels were beautiful to watch on offense.

The media has been reacting to last season's unprecedented success of white teams in the tournament with the mantra that the "best players" come out early for the NBA, thus diluting the talent in the NCAA. I've heard this anti-white (and never doubt that this is why it's being said) nonsense numerous times on ESPN, etc.

I hope Jimmer Fredette can do for white players what Duke, Butler and co. did for white teams last year. Of course, no matter what he does, I'm confident that the jock-sniffers and DWFs will still claim he "can't create his own shot" or some other absurd notion, to explain why he, like all other white college stars, just can't make it in the NBA.

I'll be rooting strongly for Notre Dame.
