Looks like Strief will be starting this Sunday, giving the Saints a second starting o-lineman, and seven total starters (including FB Evans).

They were up to allowing 9 white starters in 2006 when they made the NFC Championship game. So two more starters should get them back there.

It is funny how Bushrod comes in and plays horrible for Brown, and suddenly Brown is expendable according to Saints fans (both black). Now that Strief is in fans dont think there is any way we can get rid of Brown.

Strief does a great job, much better than Bushrod and I would say on the same level as Brown. I think he will become better than Brown with more game experience. I dont know why fans think Bushrod is the future as a LT for the Saints, when he was in Payton had to bring in Strief as a TE to help pass block.

Saints also picked up Nick Leckey G/C after releasing him earlier in the season. Not sure what the plans are for him, Goodwin has been getting beat quite often while pass blocking which slows down the passing game. Brees is great at avoiding pressure from outside rushers but likes to step up into the pocket, when Faine was with the Saints this wasn't much of a problem.

Charleston (White) is in the DE rotation quite a bit, and will probably be in it more often this week because Bobby McCray has been dealing with an injury. Chris Reis the S is used somewhat in some of the defensive packages. Williams is a dc that has at least 15 different packages that use different personnel that he sees fit and Reis sees the field quite a bit, except for last week against the Bills because they do that no huddle thing so you can't substitute unless the offense does.

So technically, pretty close to 9. I still wish they had the snow patrol and Brian Young. It would also be nice if Brees had an all White line. He has one of the quickest releases and makes the line look better than it is. One can only imagine what he would be capable of if he had something like the Patriot's line.

Heath Evans is headed for IR, but Saints picked up his once teammate from Patriots: Kyle Eckel. he might do less blocking and more running than Heath.

This team should trade for Peyton Hillis and actually give him 15-20 carries a game. I like Eckel, but he didn't impress me on the Pats nearly as much as Evans. And Hillis is a rich man's Heath Evans! The Saints could be unstoppable, if they actually stopped handing the ball to Reggie "Has A" Bush and other players who are marginally better RBs and gave the ball to Hillis instead. If Mike Bell can do rather well on NO, imagine what Hillis could do...And he'd catch passes too with the way Brees sees the open man!

As far as I know, the NFL trading deadline has come and gone-it happens six weeks into the season. There might be some details of it that I don't know about, but I don't think a Saints' move for Peyton Hillis would be doable at present.

By the way, many thanks for all the enthusiasm you show in pulling for a fair deal for Hillis, Hester, Leonard, Woodhead and the very few others we have in the NFL.

Yes, when I get the time this weekend, I sure plan on trying out arguing against the CS in a more hostile environment. Thanks for the compliment on all the enthusiasm I have for helping our guys be treated fairly. I have all my relatives and my wife behind me now. They want me to write a book b/c they are disgusted, now that I've convinced them with all my research!

Does anyone know Hillis's contract status?  How many years does he have left?

Hillis' contract info:
7/16/2008: Signed a four-year, $1.755 million contract. The deal included a $49,800 signing bonus. 2009: $385,000, 2010: $470,000, 2011: $555,000, 2012: Free Agent

so yeah, unless he gets released or someone is bold enough to trade for him (maybe Shanahan once he returns) he is pretty f**ked, because by the time he will be a FA, he will become a nothing more than a battering ram, at least in the eyes of the league...

Backrow as I recall reading Hillis played several positions in college including rb and punt returner.  He is very versatile and needs to get out of Denver somehow.

Thanks Westside! Just got back from my test and I was thinking how strange it is that a fringe white player like Kyle Eckel might be getting carries, when much more talented guys like Peyton Hillis, Jacob Hester and Tre Smith either get no carries or are completely out of the NFL.

I think the NFL might actually be worrying about a lawsuit in the future. If multiple very talented white runners like Hillis, Hester, Leonard, Gerhart, Woodhead, Sharp, McGuffie, Martinek, Gaffney and Wegher- all took the NFL by storm and a few even made the Pro Bowl- there is no doubt a talk of a lawsuit for past white RBs could come up. The NFL would rather keep whitey off the field completely than have their CaucasianRivals.com house of cards fall.

I know it's not 2009 anymore, but I'll post this here anyway. An idiot black coach got himself in a pickle and is charged with some sort of mail fraud. From the looks of the guy, he's innocent. I'd say he's much too stupid to have anything to do with mail. See, I'm sticking up for the black guy.

Here's a sports tradition that's been ruined and turned into buffoonery by blacks taking it to ridiculous extremes. Joe Horn
smiley8.gif
, himself a notable buffoon but of course beloved by the media and DWFs, hasn't played in the NFL since 2007 and has been washed up since the '04 season, but he is "announcing his retirement":
smiley29.gif

Ex-Saints WR Joe Horn will announce his retirement from football after signing a one-day contract with New Orleans. The pride of Itawamba Community College, Horn toiled in obscurity for one year in the CFL and four years with the Chiefs before the Saints stole him as a free agent in 2000. "Hollywood" immediately became a star in New Orleans, setting the Saints' single-season receiving marks for yards (1,399) and TDs (11) while finishing 55th in NFL history with 8,744 yards. He's perhaps best remembered for a 2003 incident in which he pulled out a cellphone for a mock phone call as a TD celebration.
