Offensive lines are becoming black dominated in the NFL in spite of the strong evidence that smaller, more athletic lines -- often white dominated such as those of Indianapolis, New England, San Diego, Cleveland, and Green Bay -- are often better than ones dominated by slow-footed, sumo-sized blacks. The 49ers appear to be bucking the trend, as this year's team starts four whites on the line.

Left tackle Joe Staley was a first round draft pick in 2007 out of Central Michigan and is already a good one.

Starting left guard Adam Snyder was a second rounder in '05. Center Eric Heitmann is in his seventh season out of Stanford. Tony Wragge is the right guard.

Veterans Barry Sims is a backup at both tackle spots and David Baas (another second round pick in '05) is a backup guard. Rookie Cody Wallace backs up Heitmann.

Billy Bajema is a backup tight end.

Uber-journeyman J. T. O'Sullivan begins the season as the starting QB, promoted over Alex Smith, the first overall pick of the 2005 draft. Smith is battling a shoulder injury again and may be finished in San Francisco, where he was never able to get untracked playing with some awful offenses. O'Sullivan is familiar with new offensive coordinator Mike Martz's scheme from when both were with the Lions. Not as many white quarterbacks get the opportunities they used to due to the NFL's fanatical mission to blacken the position, a mission that continues to be a notable failure, and O'Sullivan may surprise in 2008. Then again, given the receivers he has to work with, maybe he won't.

Shaun Hill, another journeyman who showed well while starting games at the end of the 2007 season, is O'Sullivan's backup with Smith injured.

Zac Keasy is the starting offensive lineman in the backfield (aka fullback). The over/under on the number of carries Keasey will get for the entire season is currently 2.

The 49ers appear to have made a shrewd signing over the offseason by bringing Justin Smith to the team. Smith was a consistent but not great sacker with Cincinnati, but was always among the elite defensive ends when it came to tackles. Like so many white defensive players he was under-rated and under-appreciated. San Francisco plans to use Smith as a pass rushing end and as a roving linebacker, so he may make more big plays than he did with the Bengals.

Jeff Ulbrich, the veteran out of Hawaii, won back one of the inside linebacking jobs and is the 49ers second white starter on defense.

Second year linebacker Jay Moore from Nebraskais the only other white defensive player on the 49ers besides Smith and Ulbrich.

Don, some changes are that Ulbrich is listed as the starter at linebacker, though his hold on that is tenous as Takeo Spikes was signed and is his backup right now. I believe Ulbrich started against Arizona. Also, I believe Moore was placed on IR.

You're right about Ulbrich being ahead of Spikes for now. Thanks for the heads-up.

White lineman Barry Sims replaced Jonas Jennings at some point in game against Seahawks, and from that point on whenever they had fullback Keasey in the game they had seven whites on the field for offense, but no receivers among them. Also, I heard on the highlights of the game that at one point they had a double tight end formation with Bajema on the field, plus Keasy, which would have made eight white players on offense, but all in caste approved positions.Edited by: referendum

Singletary replaces Nolan SANTA CLARA, Calif. â€â€￾ Mike Singletary was named interim coach of the San Francisco 49 ers, replacing the fired Mike Nolan.

Singletary, a former linebacker who made the Hall of Fame during his career with the Chicago Bears, has been Nolan's right-hand man since he entered coaching in 2003 Singletary also will be a candidate for the permanent job after the season, General Manager Scot McCloughan said.

Nolan was 18-37 in nearly 3 1 / 2 seasons with the 49 ers, who are 2-5 this season after four consecutive losses.

I'll tell you, it makes me grin ear to ear to watch that little caste pimp, Mike Nolan, get FIRED.

Nolan, while getting his ass kissed during an interview on NFL network last year, said something to the effect of: "You know, you need some bad guys on your team....you can't have too many lily-white guys."

I'm not sure if you guys caught this on ESPN this past monday night countdown....but Chris Berman was nearly in tears when he heard the news of Nolan getting fired. He kept crying how "it wasnt fair" and how "unbelievable" it was.

Rest assured that Nolan will be back, probably next season as a coordinator. His caste ideals run as deep as any other pea-brained NFL coach.

Well, 8 white starters is better than most teams in the league. Still, he sucked as a coach and needed to go.

I did like how Nolan dressed on the sidelines. Almost Tom Landry like with suit and tie without the hat. I am not comparing him to Tom Landry character wise, Landry was a man among men.

Another post that probably deserves it's own thread - the Mike Nolan firing. This could generate a lot of discussion but will get lost in another posts about the 9ers.

Isn't that what we want? Team folders with individual threads about different subjects or players related to that particular team?

Just asking cause this relates to the discussion in Happy Hour about individual team threads and generating more posts.

I like the idea of these being team blogs that are continually added to until the following year's is started, but understand your point. It's really up to posters if they prefer to add to an existing team thread that covers a lot of different topics over time or if they want to start a new thread about something.

Here's RotoWorld's description of the 49ers win today, replete with completely gratuitous racial boilerplate added:

"Shaun Hill completed 28-of-39 passes for 285 yards, two touchdowns and one interception as the 49ers beat the Jets 24-14 in Week 14. Hill lacks pinpoint accuracy or supreme athleticism, but he did a great job of running the Niners offense today. He bravely through into traffic, completed passes to 10 different receivers, and moved the offense consistently."

The words "Hill lacks pinpoint accuracy or supreme athleticism" are irrelevant and that sentence should begin with the word "he." It's racist gobbledygook that would never be in there were the QB black.

I agree, Don. White athletes are frequently described by pointing out what they can't do before being complimented. There is no reason for it except to infer that a superior player exists who can do more, i.e. a Michael Vick.

It was nice to watch Butt Favre and his nearly all-black teammates falter against the "whiter" 49ers and the "unaffletic" Shaun Hill. God, with all the amazing white QBs this season, I guess the jealous turds have to degrade somebody....they hate Shaun Hill, because at times he's an exciting gunslinger.

There is a 3-way tie in AFC East, and hopefully the Pats, the least-caste franchise, will somehow pull it off.

With the Packers out, I'm hoping for a Broncos / Pats AFC Championship game (or even the Colts).

Sadly, the only team in the NFC with a chance at the playoffs with white receiving threat is the Eagles (Curtis/Celek) or the Giants will the underutilized Kevin Boss.Edited by: Thrashen
