Gentlemen:

What do you think, will Jacob Hester get more than 15 carries today? You would think that Miles would go to him more with today being Jacob's last home game in Baton Rouge.

It's amazing Hester has been averaging 4-5 yards per carry lately with the way that Miles utilizes him. Honestly, it's like he only gets handoffs when he's in the game. Defenses have to have a strong inkling that when he's in, LSU is handing it off to him.

On another note, it will be interesting (more like sickening) to compare how CBS analyst Gary Danielson describes Darren McFadden versus Hester. Sure, McFadden's a fine back, but Danielson will use all of the stereotypical descriptions about McFadden being a "natural runner", "a pure back", "elite talent" etc. Hester is the "the do-it-all team guy" for LSU.

Give Hester the ball 20-25 times and throw it to him 5-7 times and the nation will see an extremely talented tailback.

I don't know if Jacob will get more than 15 today, although he might get close to it. I would hope he'd get over 20 and run for well over 100 yards, but that hasn't been the norm at all. We'll see what happens.

I see this as a trap game for LSU.
Nutt is fired. He has nothing to lose. In the back pages of the playbook, there is a ton of trickery and misdirection left over from last year. Nutt refused to use it all season long, but he most likely will put all his cards on the table today. The Hogs offense is very good when it is being used appropriately. The defense is good against the run and hit-or-miss against the pass. But they'll be playing with full intensity with the knowledge that they could knock off #1 and get that god-awful boot trophy back.
I'm predicting an upset.

Not likely Hester will outplay Mc Fadden today, and the whole country will see that Hester is a legitimate NFL prospect at running back. Hester I feel does many things better than Mc Fadden better pass receiver, blocker and runner between the tackles. Mc Fadden is faster but really how much. Hester is a legitimate 4.5 so what really are the differences perception by the media and skin color. Those are the only two things that are stopping Hester from being a first round draft pick for those of you who don't beleive he is then I will ask this question. Who is the all around best offensive weapon foir the #1 ranked team in the nation? The answer I think is obvious.Edited by: White Power

McFadden has three fumbles already... ouch! fortunately for Razorback fans, he's only lost one. and he just scored.

Hester has been looking pretty good, and getting lots of praise from commentator Gary Danielson.

and Hillis, though not getting many touches, has been given praise as well. Edited by: Jimmy Chitwood

earlier today, tremendous dual-threat quarterback Dan Lefevour from Central Michigane had a HUGE day.

he ran 16 times for 132 yards and 2 touchdowns, as well as throwing for 382 yards and 2 more touchdowns in the win.

he did have two interceptions, though.

he made it look sooooo easy. 65 yards for the touchdown!

what's even more impressive was no one on the LSU defense was gaining ground on him, INCLUDING the speedy #3 for LSU who caught McFadden from behind on his long touchdown run before getting blocked.

wow. just wow!

Did you hear Lundquist (or whoever) earlier in the game? He said Hillis had 4.5 speed.
I'm not sure that's exactly accurate (4.58 maybe), but I'm glad it got on the air and without correction.

Hillis and Hester are both having a good day, when they get the ball. LSU needs to give it to Hester more instead of passing so much. Seems like Jones' carries would be better in the hands of Hillis too. What a flub by Arkansas' Fish on that punt.

actually, that is probably very accurate with regards to Peyton's speed.

before the injury to his thigh, Peyton ran a faster 40 than Ronnie Brown from Auburn, the #2 pick as a tailback in the NFL draft a short while back.

of course, that was after Hillis' sophomore season, and he didn't run the 40 for pro scouts last year due to the aforementioned thigh injury.

it got called back due to a penalty for illegal formation, but how about Hester's speed on that wheel route for a 54-yard touchdown catch and run? awesome!

am i the only one who finds the repeated claims that these white athletes aren't fast ridiculous? visual evidence proves otherwise, methinks.

what a catch by Hillis! touchdown!

he had to stop and catch the horribly underthrown ball off his shoelaces, but he was so wide open that he had plenty of time to still score!

give my white man the ball!!!

this begs the question... why don't they use him more?!?! Edited by: Jimmy Chitwood

wow! what a game! to double overtime we go!
smiley17.gif

after Matt Flynn came through with a touchdown run in the first OT, Peyton Hillis came up with TWO clutch plays. a catch for a first down on 4th and 10, then the touchdown catch to force the second over time!

Hillis = really, really good

edited to add: and now Hester responds... touchdown! we're going to triple overtime! what a game!Edited by: Jimmy Chitwood

Hillis once again led the Razorbacks in every receiving category: 5 catches, 62 yards, and 2 touchdowns. he also had 11 carries for 89 yards and 2 more touchdowns, including a 65 yarder!
smiley32.gif

Hester had a big game as well. 28 carries. 124 yards. 2 touchdowns. awesome!

what a great game by two talented white athletes!

Its a shame LSU lost. Now we won't get to see a White RB start in the national championship game. I guess I'd rather see Ohio State get in then WVU at this point, at least we can hope for a White WR and a star White LB to shine.

Reclaimsocal, We still have Jake Sharp for Kansas who has still been getting close to half the hand-offs for Kansas. McAnderson is like Kansas's Hester, the cutback power guy (but slower and less versatile), Sharp is like Kansas's Kelland Williams and sees more carries than Williams! I will be really mad if Kansas loses tomorrow. Kansas coach also allowed QB Kerry Meyer to get work at WR b/c of his athleticism when he lost his starting QB job to Ressing. Meyer has been seeing some looks lately. I think Mangino is about as fair as you will see these days in a college coach. Sharp should see the majority of carries next year! GO Kansas!

Go Ohio State! I want the "Black Power" West Virginians to lose to UCONN or Pitt!

LSU - Arkansas was a huge statement game for our cause. a white starting runningback who went over 125 yards and 2 TDs, underused FB/RB/HB/TE in Peyton Hillis displaying speed, great hands and nose for running a football, saving his team from losing on 2 occasions in the overtime and scoring 4 times...

When was the last time in such a high profile game white runningbacks were so inportant and scored 6 TDs between them?

let's just hope this makes at least some people open their eyes! Hester being succesful as he is might actually get a chance at runningback in the NFL, remember that Brian Leonard was actually a college fullback in his last season, whereas for Hester this went the other way around: people got to know him as a starting RB of a top team.

Hillis, on the other hand, might become a new Chris Cooley, however i would much rather see him at runningback, or fullback even, with at least some carries to display his talent. no idea what team would be a good fit for him, but i'd like to see him in Tampa if Alstott retires. Gruden used to like their fullbacks (Crockett in Oakland) before he decided to f**k Alstott over. Edited by: backrow

I've noticed that Brandon McAnderson has been ineffective today against a physical Missouri defense. They are neutralizing his tough running. Kansas should bring in Jake Sharp; with Jake's speed he could make something happen against the physical Missouri defense.

I say screw that fat no neck bastard for Kansas he should of played Jake Sharp instead of fat and slow Brandon Mc fat ass. It's the same old B. S. Mc Anderson is slow he runs a 4.85, but what does Mangino do he plays his fat counter part. Oh well at least they can enjoy the buffet together after the game if Sharp plays they win with his speed and big play ability. Mangino really pissed alot of people off tonight by playing Mc nugget instead of Sharp. It just goes to show you no matter what strides white players make coaches always go back to whats safe in the really big games as to not draw attention to the fact that they are going against the grain by playing a white running back. It's pretty damn pathetic. I hate to say it, but I'm almost glad Kansas lost because sharp did not play.Jake sharp is so much of a better athlete than Mc Anderson why is he even playing Mangino you are a coward for playing the brother.

I've been decrying this Kansas situation for more than a month now, yet people kept defending man-sloth McAnderson. On this board even!
Clearly people touting McAnderson weren't watching the games. I was. Sharp is a true running back. He's faster than McAnderson and he actually has 'moves'. McAnderson has nothing going for him but weight. Sure, McAnderson was getting big yardage. But that was the fault of the great play calling and the offensive line. Rosie O'Donnell could've piled up yardage in those situations. Furthermore, if Sharp's number had been called on each of those plays, they would've gone for 15 yards instead of 10, and 70 yards instead of 30.
Tonight was a perfect example. On each of the plays where McAnderson got stuffed behind the line, a single cut move or a quicker burst of speed would've been able to get past or around the tacklers. I truly believe that Sharp would've turned this game into a victory.
Unless Jake was injured (I never heard that, though), Mangino has no excuses for this loss. It's all his fault.

I agree 100% with both of you. It is inexcusable to not play Jake Sharp in the biggest game of the year. I'm glad they lost to. What a joke!

one freaking carry! ONE!

hell, they barely threw to Meier, even though he was making big plays every time they did... Kansas just did not use their talent very well.

give credit to Mizzou, but the KU coaching staff deserves a lot of heat.
